Pome, you are not going to survive if you do not finally start serving all of the items on your menu. Why are so many of them crossed out? If you don’t serve them, just remove them permanently, it’s weird. And Pome, you are not going to survive if you are out of basics like«lids» for your cups. You are especially not going to survive if you must then DOWN-sell me from a medium to a small to accommodate the only cups that currently have lids available, because I need one. Finally, Pome, you are not going to survive if your servers do not get a little spunkier. I originally gave this place 4 stars because the smoothie I had(banana dark chocolate) was really good, and it was still a new place, so I forgave them the inconvenience of cash-only(at the time). However, today my smoothie had an overly tangy after-taste, and they’ve been open for months. So I don’t get it. Step it up, people.

Fresh Smoothies made right in front of you! I don’t mind taking out cash(they don’t have to pay 2−5% to credit card companies, big deal for small places) or the fact that they never have pomegranate seeds and its on the Menu(again small start up places can’t have everything on the menu) As much as I love Jamba juice, Jamba juice is not fresh!!!

Strike One: Cash only. Not a huge deal, but considering that all the other sweet shops in the area(Yogorino, The Plant Café, Tuttimelon) take plastic, this one can be a no-go. Strike Two: Lots of things whited out on their menu. I understand this is still relatively new, but when I can’t see half of the things on the menu for smoothies, something needs to be done pronto. Strike Three: NONON-DAIRYALTERNATIVE?! Seriously? They don’t have soy milk, they don’t have almond milk. What is a lactard supposed to do? The only choices of milk are whole, 2% and nonfat. With that many options for JUST milk, you’d think they’d invest in a soy alternative. Other random things about this place: They have froyo(peach and tart) — $ 3.45 for a small, $ 1.00 for toppings. They also have hot caffeinated drinks, juices, customized smoothies(which is where they had a lot of the ingredients unavailable), and pre-blended smoothies. I ordered a banana nutella smoothie, which, as I watched the girl make it, consisted of chocolate froyo, ice, and bananas. It wasn’t bad, but I didn’t taste any nutella. 16 oz. for around $ 5(they charge tax). Until this place starts offering more options, including SOY or ALMONDMILK, I’ll be happily splurging on a smoothie at The Plant Café.

«Don’t Bother» I’m not the first reviewer to note this joint never has half of the stuff in stock that it advertises. For example, I asked for hemp protein only to be told they’ve never had any since they opened, despite the fact that a GNC sits a mere block away. Nor did they have soy milk. The young girls behind the counter could tell me nothing health-wise about the smoothies, and the manager doesn’t keep regular hours but«drops by» once in a while. In other words, the manager cares only about collecting profits and nothing about investing the time and energy to properly oversee a business.

After a vinyasa flow yoga class with a friend at Aha Yoga a few blocks up from this establishment on Union Street, we were craving something refreshingly light and cold on this particular sunny afternoon. So I thought, why not head over to the Jamba Juice on Chestnut! We were elated as we headed over, but as we drove by, noticed that it had changed to «Pome» instead. Seeing that it was still a juice bar, we decided to check it out. We walked in, noticed the still-present Jamba Juice sign… and figured they were pretty new in changing hands. We went to order, but every single item we attempted to order, they did not have. So I asked for one of their juices without any milk blended into it. Paid a good 6 dollars for it, and was disappointed to find that what I got was not refreshing, and definitely too creamy not to have any dairy in it. My friend ordered a smoothie, and what resulted was a goopy yogurt like substance – definitely not what she was looking for. Thinking of giving them a second chance, I ordered a watermelon juice with a pomegranate juice base with NOMILK. This time, they managed to get the no milk part right, but as they were speaking amongst each other of making the watermelon aspect of the watermelon juice, one of them blatantly talked in front of me about being«too lazy» to cut into the actual watermelon, and just using the small chunks they had cut up for the froyo… incredible. When I got my watermelon juice, it was very lukewarm and watered down. DEFINITELY not what I was looking for. Don’t think I will ever come back. If they are not ready to be open and in full service to the customers, they should take some time to prepare the ingredients and the employees.

Build your own smoothies. Don’t forget the froyo. The best smoothies are the ones made exactly how you want them made. For me perfection is defined as bananas, strawberries and blueberries. Add nonfat frozen yogurt. Blend. Enjoy. For less than $ 5 it’s cheaper than other locations where the choice is not always yours. Even better, the froyo is also available on its own. Chocolate was so good it almost didn’t survive the bus ride home.

The lady and I were thirsty and we wanted a cold drink on a nice warm day. The wifey ordered the watermelon juice which wasn’t cold or sweet. Ice would of helped. I ordered the banana nutella smoothie which the cashier recommended. It was so sweet that I cough off the first sip. I have to stick to Jamba Juice for now.

Pome opened a couple of days ago and I tried it out about an hour ago. This place is more of 3.5 stars. It’s so new that the Jamba Juice poster is still on the wall and the employees still haven’t familiarized themselves with the register interface. Pome advertises itself as a place for organic frozen yogurt, espresso drinks, and customized juices/smoothies. I wasn’t craving any espresso or juice($ 4.45-$ 6). I just opted for the small organic tart frozen yogurt($ 3.45). Toppings are $ 1.00. There is also pomegranate tart and another flavor that I have forgotten. Sadly, my yogurt was already melting when it got into my hands. It’s definitely different in taste from the original tart froyo at Tuttimelon down the block, but not strange. It’s strikingly similar to Straus organic froyo that is served at The Pro Shop @ the Recreational Sports Facility(UC Berkeley RSF) and Yogurt Harmony in Berkeley. I wish they actually remodeled the place to include an actual sitting area; that would be way more attractive than have a crowd stand and mash with the line/wait area, something Jamba Juice never learned nor perfected. I don’t think there is free Wi-Fi or if there ever will be but hopefully sometime to stay competitive with the other café on Chestnut.
