Beef carpaccio Mussels, clams in garlic, white wine sauce Wild salmon Risotto, squid ink, scallops, shrimp Pasta Portions are small, but dishes are pretty tasty. The food wasn’t great but it wasn’t awful.

Italian tapas! $ 5 happy hour on well drinks, cocktails, and the first red/white wines on the menu. Friendly wait staff. Their thin pizza bases are essentially flattened focaccia bread with Rosemary and olive oil. With that being said, don’t order their focaccia bread with rosemary and olive oil because it’s not what you’d expect. Rest of the food was a pleasant surprise. See photos for deets. Overall worth checking out once for the novelty, but it’s not something I’d necessary recommend.

The manager is so nice here, and the food is OK but the happy hour is incredible! It starts at 5:30 daily at the bar until close.

This place is dynamite! I had beat salad, caesar salad, squid ink risotto, shrimp and escargot linguini in white sauce. All outstanding. LOVE everything! The cauliflower thing was decent but nothing special. Still tasty though just ordinary, unlike all the other dishes which were exploding with flavors. I hesitated between the tiramisu and chocolate ice cream dessert but went for the chocolate dessert based on the waitress recommendation, that was very underwhelming. I mean it doesn’t even beat Ben and Jerry chocolate fudge brownie. I can’t wait to go back and try the homemade tiramisu! LOVE This place. Great service too. Very nice people! Oh and the $ 5 dollar house wine was a Malbec, very nice also. had three and didn’t bother ordering other drinks…^__*

The dishes are just not to california standards, the place is loud, and two of the dishes were ordered wrong out of four. I came here at the suggestion of zagat and was really disappointed. 1.5 stars The only dish that was decent was the salmon carpaccio. But be aware of the large peppercorn — try to skip those since they are too strong for the salmon. The pumpkin ravioli was a lot of flour for the skin of the ravioli and the balsamic vinegrette was drenching the ravioli so much that it started tasting like a salad dressing on top. The tomato salad had way too much dressing and the tomatos looked like that they came from the corner deli store rather than the farmer’s market. Cauliflower wuth bechmel: too creamy and too saucy. I would not recommend this place — don’t think that this will last very long on the SF scene unless they start changing the food soon.

I just came back from a 3-week trip traveling all around Italy. All I can say is I am very happy to have found Piattini. I had the burrata, pizza, wine, seafood fettuccini. Spot on. I’ll be back.

A great place for a group or date. The prices and plate sizes are reasonable for tapas. It is more upscale than some of the neighboring restaurants, so keep that in mind when considering the price. The staff was incredibly attentive. I had to leave early in the meal due to a migraine, and they made an effort to not only box my meal and resolve the check quickly, but asked if there was anything else they could do. It was very thoughtful of them to see that my experience was a pleasant one. The food itself was great, which made leaving early a bit of a bummer. Normally I would finish a meal like this at the restaurant, but given the situation, I ate most of my meal as leftovers. Even reheated, it was fantastic! I highly recommend the risotto with fontina cheese, Gnocchi di Ricotta, and grilled seasonal vegetables. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes!

Went here for tapas last night and while nothing on the menu was awful, nothing really blew me away either. I think my favorite items were the meatballs and the cannoli. It’s also pretty moderately priced for tapas. Service was pretty slow and we had to struggle to get the waiters attention a bit, but it was pretty busy so that’s kind of to be expected. Also there was four of us and they did 3 servings of most dishes which was a little annoying but I guess that’s just how their dishes are set up?

Came here with my family last night and we had the best time. It was completely empty when we arrived at around 7:00, which was nice because we were seated right away and attended to promptly. Our bartender was Mici, who was very friendly and gave us generous servings of wine. Then Gino, the owner, came over to check on us and we ended up having great conversation. Im still in shock that this place was empty because the food is delicious and the service was fantastic! Food: Margherita Pizza– delicious! Super flavorful, and not oily. Mozzarella was fresh. Focaccia– amazing! Toasted and perfectly salted. Prosciutto with pears and marscapone– probably my favorite dish. I love the prosciutto! Muscles with clams in white wine garlic sauce– super tasty, I wish the serving was bigger! Squid ink risotto– fantastic! So flavorful and delicious! It was so good, we ordered two! Wild boar meatballs– very tender and full of amazing flavor Clam pizza– delicious! Seafood and pizza were meant to be. Tiramisu– thought Gino was holding out on us, but then he let us in on the tiramisu and it was one of the best I’ve ever had! Cant wait to go back. Gino and Mici were awesome, the food was awesome, and the ambiance was awesome! I would give them more stars if I could!

Came on a Saturday. At 7 pm, place rather empty strangely so. But the ambience was really nice, great music. Waitress very friendly and knowledgeable on the food. We had the wild boar meatballs, steamed mussels/clam in white wine sauce, chicken liver pâté and burratta cheese salad. All great, with my fav the meatballs. Thumbs up!

I am surprised this place is always empty! I was shy to the idea of eating there for the fact that its always empty BUT I was very pleased with my food. We ordered the meatballs and YES they are delishes! We had a small margarita pizza which was simple and exactly what I wanted. Light and flavorful. I am mostly very happy about the service. The staff were kind and cheerful. I will definitely return here.

really delicious and original«Italian» tapas, will definitely return. Service was good and the owner checked in on us several times. When we didn’t like the home made sorbet he gave us an amazing chocolate and nut covered ice cream desert, on the house. I’m a vegetarian and left stuffed and happy, my meat eating friend said everything she had was excellent.

Came back for a quick… We order chicken liver pâté, it was yummy! It came with grilled baguette. Yummmm. The last time we came the bread was store bought, but this time is was fresh. So yummy when it’s grilled it had a nice chard. We had the steak tartar again. Yummmmy once again. We also ordered the pizza, it was exactly what we wanted. The crust was thin and it was cooked beautifully. It went great with the pomegranate mimosa. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.. Once again the owner was very nice!

Relatively large restaurant with lots of openings, even on a friday night. We split 6 plates between the four of us. — cheese with honey — wild boar meatballs — decent, with good sauce — salame pizza — normal, thin crust pizza — beef tartar — not great — gnocchi — pretty good — truffle risotto — extremely truffly, pretty tasty Overall, the food was decent but nothing special

Come for the gnocchi and wild boar meatballs, stay for the panna cotta. So good! We came here with a group of 4 and had no trouble getting a table. We started with cocktails and ordered rounds of small plates to share. Super nice, leisurely meal perfect for conversation and catching up with friends. We will be back! Thanks Gino!

Sucks. The atmosphere is cold and food bland. I called and made reservation and told them I had a groupon but when I arrived and ate, I was told that the groupon will not be honored as they changed ownership and name. He asked if I knew who I called to when I made reservation. He actually expected me to know the name of the person I talked to when I made reservation. Needless to say, I drove 45 minutes to eat bland food for $ 50. And now I have to call group to get my purchase price of the groupon back. Hard for me to believe that I was the first groupon confusion they had. They chose to ignore my groupon mention so they can lure me to eat there

We had a group of 6 and ordered A LOT of dishes, thinking they would pace the courses. To my surprise, around 8 or so dishes came all at once, or within a few minutes of each other. I felt like I was at a buffet eating ceasar salad and pizza and mussels on my little small plate(which was never changed). Nothing was really that special except for the squid ink risotto, but then again I could hardly taste the dishes how they were supposed to be tasted, unless the chef wants us to eat his dishes lukewarm. We spent about $ 50 a person and I didn’t feel it was worth it. 3 stars because I hope they can fix this problem, and survive.

Great small plate options and lovely classic cocktails! I highly recommend the wild boar and eggplant meatballs. Gino is always friendly and Michi is always smiling behind the bar.

What can I say… Refreshing class on Mission. Not your typical loud and obnoxious tapas bar. Classy and refined with amazing pizzas, tapas and… the gnocchi. WOW! Wait have I yet to mention the cocktail menu? Well, if you’re looking for a classic Basil Mojito or Negroni please no need to go anywhere else. Fun spin on a Diavolo? AMAZING! New menu. Same amazing owner. Get here and get here quick before Gino gets the word out. Amazing energy and amazing place.
