And who wants to walk upstairs for the bathroom. Ain’t nobody got time for that man. My noodles were hard I like em soft.

I was in the EC to do a return and thought I’d get something quick. Service to get seated and at the table was pretty bad. To top it off, I started bloating severely on my way back to the office. And sure enough I had to run to the bathroom shortly thereafter! I will never eat here again!

In terms of Financial District expectations and pricing, the phở here is okay. But under any other circumstances, I would’ve been disappointed by the food for the price. It’s not horrible — the food is decent and the wait time isn’t terrible so long as you come with a smallish group(say 2 – 4). But they skimp on the meat(for $ 10, I feel like I should be getting more than just half a dozen pieces) and the quality just isn’t up to par with what I expect from experiencing other, yummy phở places in the East Bay. Overall, if you’re really craving phở and Sai’s Restaurant on Washington has too long of a wait(or you don’t feel like walking a few blocks), then this is a good alternative.

Not bad, not great… McDonalds of Phở? I guess once you go to great Phở places this place doesn’t stand a chance. It’s acceptable I guess if your in downtown SF and you’re desperate. Personally, I think there are much better choices within 3 blocks of here.

Came here w/my team for lunch. Prices are a bit high but we ARE in the FiDi. Idk, my eyes just went a little wider at $ 10+ for a large bowl of phở. I ordered chicken rice plate. The eggs rolls that came w/it were crunchy but the entire roll itself was wrapped too loosely. The texture of the chicken was a bit dry. They also put peanuts on the chicken. Didn’t know that but they were nice enough to switch it for me. Kinda weird since peanuts only go on the vermicelli.

I come here whenever I’m craving phở and in SF. It’s a chain. In FiDi. If you want authentic, go to Little Saigon district in San Jose. In fact, I think their original location is in San Jose. Tastier and in a sketchier location :). Bottom line: You can get lunch for $ 10 and it’s not just a box of salad greens like the most of the other places in FiDi.

This spot is close to my job so whenever I have a phở craving or hangover, it’s my new go-to spot. If recommend eating there because they’re more likely to get your order right than if you call in. The phở is decent and the price is slightly more expensive than if it wasn’t in the financial district but hey that’s SF for ya. My only annoyance was with ordering over the phone for pickup because they always ask what number you’re ordering but their website doesn’t have numbers next to the dishes so I don’t see what’s up with that. This time I called in an order of the veggie phở… tofu only. No vegetables. Guy over the phone: ok so you want the angus steak?! Me: no. I want veggie phở with tofu only. Guy: ok what size Me: regular please Guy: ok got it, angus steak phở regular size Me: NO I want just phở with tofu please Guy: is there a number? Me:(about to lose my shit) I just want phở with tofu (I get there) Me: I’m here to pickup a tofu phở for Jae Guy at register: got it so that’s angus steam regular? Me: no all I want is a veggie phở with tofu only. No vegetables Guy: what kind of broth? Beef? Me: NO veggie phở with your vegetables And then he still charges me for angus steak phở…(sigh)

Place smells consistently like dirty mop water. Others have commented on the smell. Barring that issue, its convenient phở in FiDi. Train the staff on how to disinfect the mop bucket(which i am pretty certain and HOPE the smell is coming from) to get rid of the smell and they immediately bump up a star.

YES, YES, I KNOW. It’s not the best Phở place in the world. I get it. BUT, this is the financial district. Unless you’re going to a high-end restaurant, you’re going to have to settle. That being said, Phở Hoa has been an absolute godsend when I’m sick(coughcough. sometimes hungover as balls). They give you pretty big portions and you’re looking to pay about $ 10. Standard FiDi lunch. Hey, whatever gets you through the work day, amirite?!

Only decent phở spot in the heart of financial district. The phở is average at its best but it’s really unfair for anyone to compare this establishment with any other phở spots in SF. I would say this place is good, only if you’re looking for a quick fix without having to travel away from the financial district; or if you’re cold and need to warm up during the winter season. Three different bowl sizes to choose from but«just enough» is literally just enough. Honestly I would much rather take the muni/bart to the TL for something more authentic. Unfortunately I work near the embarcadero and traveling to the TL is a bit of a stretch. Love it or hate it, I’ll let your taste bud be the judge.

Everybody has friends like that show, Big Bang Theory, right? Well, I do and we(co-workers) have a get together luncheon at least 3 times a year. This is a time for us to release anger, any frustrations, secrets that no other ears can hear of, and geeky breakdowns of various movies that doesn’t make sense in the real world or the movie world. These lunches are sacred and what’s spoken at the table, remains in the tables. That’s the rules. What the Phở! It was a phở real cold and dismal day in SF, the census voted for warm food. Warm beefy brothy soup with slurpy rice noodles. Since we needed our bones defrosted, the warm soup really did the trick for us starving cold FiDi workers. But to be truthfully and honest, I can’t remember if it tasted good. Our conversation of the irony of ‘Turbo Snail’ was so intense that I can’t remember if I enjoyed the flavors. But I do remember a good conversation about ‘Tangled’, and how the movie came out during the same time they found kidnapped victim from Antioch. Plus, the similarities of the story is to the real deal. I now look at ‘Tangled’ in a very dark manner now. Since I can’t remember if I enjoyed the food, it must be worth coming back to for a 2nd try. But this time, I’ll go without my Big Bang Theory companions, they may throw me for a loop again.

Average phở, decent prices, fast service, and it’s the only game in town in that neighborhood. I wouldn’t drive here just for phở, as there are a lot of much better places in the city, but if you’re in the financial district and craving phở or even a fast casual Asian lunch, it’s not bad! Plus they have hot water in thermos you can use for replenishing your tea kettle so you don’t need to keep flagging them down for more tea!

2.5 Stars I went with a couple of coworkers this past week for lunch at Phở Hoa. I had no idea there was a phở place tucked away in the Embarcadero center so I was definitely intrigued to give Phở Hoa a shot. Ordered the standard Phở w/eye round steak(regular size). They offer 3 sizes, just enough, regular, and large. Broth-had a dark rich hue but lacked depth in flavor. It was reminiscent of those instant phở seasoning that you can buy at the supermarket. I was looking for a pure flavorful broth but instead found it to be water down beef soup. Protein was fair and noodles were plentiful. Service was subpar, don’t expect much. Overall Thoughts The broth doesn’t warrant another visit especially when you consider the price point of $ 10 for a bowl of phở

This is one of my go-to locations for lunch on a foggy SF workday. Considering there is a serious lack of phở places in the Financial District, this isn’t a bad option. It’s a quick sit down lunch, otherwise you can take it to go. I’ve never had to wait for a table for 2. Total will be under $ 10 which is expensive for phở, but not for the financial district. My favorite is the Phở Ga.

This Phở Hoa location serves the worst phở I’ve had in San Francisco. It’s worse than the other Phở Hoa locations(Seattle and Mountain View) I’ve been to as well. The last time I ate here, the broth was so greasy and oddly flavored that I felt nauseated before finishing the bowl. I can’t imagine anyone would eat here for any reason besides the convenient location. I recommend walking a few blocks further to Sai’s, Golden King, Golden Flower, Golden Star… anywhere but here.

Well, I should have trusted the Unilocal reviews on this one. But I was tired and feeling lazy and did not want to travel to the better rated Phở places in the area. Phở Hoa is one block from the Hyatt Regency San Francisco where I was staying — so I thought I would roll the dice. First of all — I will say that the service was prompt. I ordered the medium(regular) bowl of Phở Ga with white meat. The plate of aromatics/veggies that accompanied the bowl of Phở was among the skimpiest I’ve ever seen in terms of the amount provided — particularly in the Basil and Bean Sprouts department. I asked for, and received a second plate full. The Phở came out — the broth was steaming and somewhat dark for a Phở Ga. The broth was rather bland — I suspect it was a beef-based broth — not the rich, delicious chicken-based broth I expect for really good Phở Ga. The level of broth was also not as high in the bowl as it should have been. Finally, while there was ample chicken in the bowl, it was sliced rather thickly and much of it was kind of tough and chewy. I won’t come here again for Phở…

With bouts of gusting winds spiraling my hair into a complete rat’s nest and chills sending vast amounts of goose pimples up my arm, I needed to retreat and find a place to warm me up real good. I was able to find Phở Hoa within a block’s distance and chose to quickly build an appetite for some good ol’ bowl of soup. Convenient access when you’re in the financial district. I ordered the veggie spring roll appetizer and the phở ga. Both were yummy. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all and the food came out lightning fast. Although the servers were friendly enough, my only complaint is that once you are given your meal, the servers don’t bother coming back and checking on you for water refills, etc. Perhaps I shouldn’t have overloaded my phở with so much sriracha that day and having my tongue inflamed with all that heat. Then again, mmmm Phở ga with fresh mint, cilantro, crunchy bean sprouts, basil leaves, hoisin sauce, extra extra limes, and plenty of sriracha…(Insert Homer Simpson’s drool sound here). On second thought, I actually really like my little hoisin, sriracha, and lime ratio going on there. Wait, where was I again? All in all, I was able to achieve what I came in for. I warmed up back to normal human temperature and was satisfied with a belly full of phở juice. Unfortunately, the rat’s nest for a mane was still apparent. So yeah, this is a good, decent place to enjoy some phở if you’re in the downtown area. Just bring your own bottle of water for circumstances such as mine.
