I love the beef pot pie and sweet potato pie. Perfect dinner combo and so easy to munch on the go. Ladies will probably eat up to two pies and Men will likely need to nosh on three to fill up. Delicious! Less impressed with the chicken pot pie which is on the drier side.

I had the pleasant experience of meeting the owner of Peasant Pies a few weeks before at a dinner party. I was surprised I hadn’t heard of his company(though it’s mostly catering now), and it existed well before this whole pie craze(read me: Mission Pie, Pig & Pie, etc). I was excited to walk by one of their few consumer locations(he recommended a get a pie there so they can heat it up perfectly), unfortunately right after I’d had a filling brunch. I bought a small Basque Beef pie and asked for specific instructions to heat it up at home(I believe it was 400 °F for 10 minutes). I left the pie out for a day and heated it in my toaster oven the next day. The crust came out a bit dry and too flaky, but I blame myself for not being able to eat this fresh and heated up on site. My toaster oven isn’t the most consistent or new piece of equipment. I love the concept of having savory pies, of straying from the usual cherry and apple and pecan, and getting Americans more used to what pies are everywhere else in the world — something you can sit down and eat for a meal. The Basque Beef had really great flavors and a unique medley of ingredients and I can’t wait to try more!

Utterly dreadful food. Amazing that they stay in business.

I got the chicken pie and while the portion size was just right for a quick snack, it was definitely lacking in flavor. I like my food with a little kick; I think the pie was missing a few spices. But the service was friendly and the place was clean. I’ll be back to try to spinach and feta!

Simple, comforting, cheap, totally good. Chicken pot pie is my favorite.

Their oven has been broken for a month. Every time I eat there now the pies are either over or under cooked. When I spoke to the owner today he said the oven was only broken for«some people.» This guy clearly doesn’t care about his business. I wouldn’t be surprised if they close within 6 months. I used to eat here once or twice a week but I’ve had it.

This was a great find as I was looking for a quick, filing lunch before going to volunteer in Noe Valley. I did a quick Unilocal search and this little gem popped up. I tried the chicken potato(nice, filling, good flavor) and spinach feta(I love this flavor combo) pies. I thought for sure I wouldn’t be able to finish both pies and was fully prepared to pack up any leftovers. Well, they were gone and there was nothing to pack! Yum! Service was so friendly and smiley. :) I will definitely go back to try more pies!

Convenient round Palm sized pies. The Moroccan lentil and yam was delightfully spiced, and a good light lunch to go. Would need two though for a more substantial meal. Warmed up at home, 400 °F for 8 minutes, easy. No utensils needed. Crust is slightly chewy, not very buttery, tastes somewhat healthy even. Not my husband’s tastes, but I liked it. Liked that there are meat, vegetarian and vegan options.

NO offense, but the thingies were small-sized, & dry. I definitely appreciate the price but not sure about coming back, unless they get filled up more and pack a little more juice in there with the curry.

Not sure if I came for the right thing, so might not be an accurate review. If you want savory pies, they had a lot! I didn’t order any, but I might consider coming back to try one. If you want sweet, baked pies, they only have small fruit tarts the size of cookies. Which were decent, but 3 stars to me. The pear crumble pie was pretty close to a traditional apple pie, and it was okay. The blueberry one just had fruit on top of crust, and it was nice, but nothing special.

This is a fantastic little place for a quick bite. It’s a small cornish pasty. or is it more like a portable pot pie? Order two for a meal or one just for a treat.

My boyfriend and I were waiting in line to get into San Tung and we were starving so we decided to stop by and try the place out. It’s a great place to stop by for a quick snack or on the go meal. I tried the chicken pot pie and it was around $ 3 so very affordable especially for college students. plus it was pretty good! I would definitely return to see what other meals they have to offer.

I love the down to earth, friendly atmosphere at this location. I went in once on National Pie Day, not realizing they were closed. The man behind the counter was welcoming and inviting nonetheless, and I was so glad to get a few small pies for a friend’s pie party.(Note: Mission Pie has lines that wrap AROUND The CORNER on National Pie Day) The pies are good and reliable, nothing fancy, but I find they’re perfect when you want some pie in a pinch — I always get the lentil and yam pie, the black bean and tofu pie, and the eggs, veggie, and cheese pie.

This place is a winner! My business partner had alot of sales meeting in Noe Valley and we were starving, stopped here got 2 amazing pies and we were ready to go. Great spot for quick pie grabs on the go– that should be their slogan.

Yummy! I had the Spicy Tomato Clam and Basque Beef. Thin crust, a little but«chewy». Great flavors. Good amount of filling. I have to try the dessert next time.

A great spot if you are on the go, and need something substantial to hold you over. It’s very affordable at $ 3.55 per pie. I came in for a quick bite to eat, and was happy to see a decent selection of vegan, vegetarian, and carnivore savory pies. I was satisfied overall with the flavor and texture of my pie. I made my visit in the late morning and was looking for a breakfast option. I ordered the sausage, egg, cheese & potato peasant pie. They use Italian pork sausage. The cashier informed me that the pie is to be eaten with your hands, like a burger, and not with a fork. Nice, no utensils necessary! There is a minimum $ 5.00 fee to use your ATM card for all you who go cash-less. I ended up having to purchase a mango lassi drink from their fridge display(quite tasty). Note they do serve other items besides savory pies including croissants and other pastries.

New to the city & stopped in for an afternoon snack after having pounded the pavement attending 5 open houses. Lovely little hole in the wall to rest my weary feet & grab a little pie/pocket of heaven to snack on. There was a varied selection to choose from & it was difficult to only pick one! Lovely selection of drinks too & I picked up a mango lassi to sip on. Friendly service & it felt an established part of the neighborhood, with people popping in and out to grab a pie or two… or three. Yum.

I was looking for a place to pick up some drinks and something light to eat in the morning, and Peasant Pies was the first place on the way so that’s how I ended up here. The drinks selection was interesting enough to keep me interested, and I ended up just getting the vanilla flan because I had already sold my soul to the mainstream by then. Though both were a bit expensive for my admitted penny pinching ways, it was not enough to overcome my laziness either. The guy behind the counter was real friendly which made me want to irrationally give them 5-stars, but then I remembered how much of a cheap ass I am so 4-stars it is.

I spent the afternoon in Noe Valley and this little pie shop was the hight light of my afternoon. The sweet pies are incredibly tasty, the vanilla flan pie is amazing, it’s crème bule in a pie shell, you can’t go wrong with it. Their vegetable soups are impressive, I never had vegetarian soups that are as good them, they are freshly made! This little pie shop is welcoming and warm and the person serving it is extremely polite and kind. His hospitality makes all that of a difference.

Note: this is for their catered food only. We’ve had Peasant Pies catered to our office a few times in the past, to somewhat mixed reception among my coworkers. Well, mostly mixed: I’m one of the few people in my office who actually kind of likes their food. And, oddly enough(given that I rarely say this), their vegetarian options are much more flavorful than their meat options. The main problem I’ve found with their pies lays in the whole wheat dough they use: it’s rather lacking in flavor and texture, resulting in a dough that’s too bland(no butter?!) and too soft. The tricks I’ve found to get around these two problems are to toast briefly at high temp to give the crust a nice crisp, and to find vegetarian and meat flavors that combine well, to add some more flavor and complexity.
