To get in you have to press a doorbell in order to get some kind of visual confirmation. I suppose they don’t want unstable drunkards roaming into a gallery with priceless artwork. The gallery itself is rather spacious with wide white walls and wood tiled flooring. In the middle is a wooden platform bench for relaxed viewing. The current exhibition is American Abstract Expressionist Franz Kline’s work. These feel like sketches or studies but I may be wrong. It’s a series of bold black ink markings on telephone book pages. If you really want to make yourself scratch your head over art this would be an exhibition to do it at. What a waste of good picture frames, jk. For the interior space and high profile name of Franz Kline, this is most likely a reputable gallery. But if you’re not into abstract expressionism you can skip the current exhibition.

This is a nice gallery. I love North Beach. Usually, it’s very sunny there, so the gallery is well-lit with natural light, allowing you to see the paintings nicely. The floors are gorgeous(nice wood paneling). The art on display today, by Paul Stempen, was very delightful to look at. The workers are warm and friendly, unlike at many galleries, and allow you to bring pet dogs in. :)
