a good hike down the Coastal Trail and great views of the bay entrance and marin headlands. The rock was painted white so that before the trees came up ships could use it to determine their location (using angles to that rock plus another beacon somewhere else is what I was told). Just stay out of the nearby closed area or you might get a ticket from a park ranger…
