Their crab cake sliders are amazing! Almost as good as back home in Maryland.

I was at the SOMA Streat Food park for lunch and disappointed I didn’t see Dusty Buns here, but a good replacement was this food truck. Their Almond Chicken pesto chicken sandwich was calling my name, so I had to try it for $ 10. I really enjoyed it. It really needed the toothpick in the middle to hold the chicken sandwich together or else the slices of chicken will slide off. It was tasty, fresh, tender chicken and I would go back to try it again. :-) Yummy and fulfilling in my tummy. Although the truffle fries sounded tempting to try, it was a bit expensive so I passed on it. I had my eye on some ice cream in the next stall over.

Truffle fries are a soild 4 star! I did not eat anything else so I cannot say if the other items are worthy of such a rating.

Last weekend I went to the WalkerStalker Con at Fort Mason and Oui Chef was one of the food truck options. I’m not sure that Oui Chef or any of the other food trucks anticipated the large crowds. We waited in line for about an hour and a half and by the time we got up to the front to order food, there were only a few options left. We ended up ordering the chicken schnitzel burger, chicken schnitzel sliders, and the almond chicken burger. The chicken schnitzel burger was spicy and crunchy but the chicken was still moist on the inside. I loved the spicy Korean sauce and the coleslaw was great. I didn’t try the almond chicken burger(I can’t eat pesto) but I was told it was delicious. Despite the large crowds(which isn’t Oui Chef’s fault) and running out of food, this was a great lunch option. The only reason they’re not getting 5STARS is because they didn’t offer any drink options. Hopefully I can try out some of their other dishes in the future! *Accepts CCs

OuiChef participated in the SF Mac & Cheese Throwdown, so my review is for that. I got 5 free tasting samples for all the different food trucks. First off let me explain that Mac and cheese is my most favorite food so this was a dream fest for me. After exploring the festival OuiChef was my last stop before departing. Wise decision on my part because it was definitely the best tasting sample I got. They had 2 specials for the fest 1. Truffle Mac and cheese and 2. Lobster Mac and cheese. Unfortunately the lobster Mac was only available if you bought the standard size NOT for the free tasting. So my only choice was the truffle Mac. SO. HEAVENLY. DELICIOUS. The tasting size was small… but every bite of creamy cheesy goodness filled my mouth was glorious. The flavor and texture was spot on. I think if it wasn’t free I would comment of the pricing, but I didn’t have to worry about it. :) I look forward to giving this truck another try the next time I am in the city because if their food is anything like their Mac and cheese… Sign me up!!!

Since moving to the Bay Area this has become my favorite food truck. If you haven’t noticed from my reviews I LOVECHICKEN. The Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich from Oui Chef is delectable. 4 stars is due to the fact that they shorted a loyal customer a few times on amount of chicken.

I had the chicken schnitzel sliders and the truffle fires. The sliders weren’t small at all and would have been a healthy lunch portion. The real winner was the truffle fries! I enjoy French fries a lot and this was the most potato-y, least oily, and positively delectable fries I’ve ever had. The fragrance was amazing and it was salted and peppered just nicely without being too strong; it brought out the potato taste. The sandwich was good, but the schnitzel was just a tad dry. I’ve had much worse, but it could definitely be better. Overall, I would go back again. Not sure why the other guy was complaining about time. It wasn’t quick but it didn’t wait too long.

Had the«sliders» which were more like«normal size burgers» — and delicious ones done medium(yes! take that fast food chains). Highly recommended. Other items here have been hit and miss.

Thoroughly OK but nothing amazing, my Tonkatsu burger was good enough to satisfy but ordinary enough to forget. It was a generous helping indeed, but too generous with the mayo allocation! This truck features nice items in general, and I will return at some point.

I waited in a very short line to order, but the woman at the window was painfully slow, so it took about 20 minutes to get to the front and place my order. She told me right away before I placed my order(and in a tone that was almost like she wanted to discourage me from ordering at all), that the food would take 15 minutes(«20 minutes, tops») to be ready, which I was fine with. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel Sliders — 2 for $ 8.50. According to the menu, these sliders are topped with spring mix, tomato, an over-easy egg, fried chicken tenders, and sauce. It took *45* minutes for my food to come out. I waited with a small group of other people, who were also trying to be patient, on the side of the truck. Despite the wait making me think that they just needed this extra time to cook all of our food, my sliders were freezing cold. The«over-easy egg» was an over cooked, flattened piece of rubber. The sliders were SOVERYDRY, and didn’t have any flavor. The chicken was over-cooked, hard, dry, and tasted like dirty fryer oil. Definitely won’t be ordering from this truck again. :(

Chicken Schnitzel($ 9.50) and a drink comes out to $ 13. That’s too high for a food truck where you eat off paper, perhaps standing up. Plus the sandwich isn’t dressed with anything, and your only choice is french’s mustard, tapatio or ketchup… not exactly the fine french flavor I was hoping for. How about some Aioli, or herb butter, or at least mayo? The chicken was very thin, but the breading was a little overcooked and the meat got a bit chewy. The fresh greens and tomatoes were good. I don’t think the egg added enough given how oily the chicken was already. I didn’t get the fries, but they did look appetizing. In a crowd of food trucks, this doesn’t stand out.

I love burgers and always love trying new places out, but thought what I got here was just okay. Maybe I should have gone the more unhealthy /deep-fried route with the crab cake burger or the tonkatsu burger. I got the Pesto Chicken Burger, which was $ 10 — no fries or sides included in that price. It was pretty basic — tomato, lettuce, pesto, swiss cheese, and really thinly cut slices of chicken. Perhaps, the most disappointing part of the burger was the bun — it reminded me of the cheap white hamburger buns at Safeway. It was untoasted and got soggy from the juices of the burger. Had the bread been better, I think the burger would have gotten a higher rating. All in all, I’ve had better burgers in SF, and wouldn’t crave this Pesto Chicken Burger. Next time, I’d probably get something different.

Oui Chef, despite the name, is really just another Slider Truck. I think their sliders are pretty decent though About the same size as MeSoHungry’s Sliders. I tried them over at Off The Grid Upper Haight and definitely wanted to try Chicken Schitzel Sliders since they looked and sounded the most interesting. Chicken Schintzel Sliders – Pretty big Sliders when you consider that each one has a nicely sized Mini Chicken Schnitzel and a Fried Egg for a nice double dose of protein. However the chicken was a little too dry for me so I had a little bit of a hard time eating the sliders. Based of what I’ve had so far, Oui Chef is at best 3 stars for me. I’ll have to try their other menu items, especially the short rib slider. Also, I do like how you have a choice between ordering each sandwich in burger form or in slider form. I’ll probably try them again if they’re around.

Tried their burgers(Angus and short rib) and I really feel they are over-indulgent here. Every elements in those burgers are good. There were great meat, nice green in angus; good flavor of stew and nice slaw in short rib burger. However putting too much of good things together doesn’t makes the burgers great. It’s too big too handle and with too much sauce, the bread disintegrates. It was total mass when we ate them. Maybe sliders are the way meant to eat them…

I went to the Soma Streat Food Park the other day and was disappointed to walk around and see virtually no vegetarian/vegan options. I don’t consider a plain pizza and french fries as suitable veggie options. So I settled on Oui Chef because I planned on trying their truffle fries anyway. I ordered the(2) portabello mushroom sliders. I got it without sauce and cheese. First of all, prices are very steep here. $ 9 for 2 sliders or $ 10 for 1 burger. $ 4.75 for truffle fries. This is sit-down restaurant prices. Second of all, I didn’t even finish my food. I didn’t even make it through 1 slider. Although presentation was beautiful and delicate, it wasn’t enough to excite my taste buds. The mushroom was bland and underseasoned. Even though they used a mixed green salad, the flavor didn’t cut through. The bread is a type of sweetbread, and it didn’t make sense with the blandness and flatness of the rest of the slider. I had a discussion with my boyfriend, to make sure I was being fair. By omitting the sauce and the cheese, am I being too harsh? On one hand, I am. The cheese and aoli will bring much needed flavor to a sandwich. It probably will taste much much better. However, on the other hand, I believe that all components of a dish should be able to stand alone. As a vegan, I’m very accustomed to ordering dishes without cheese, sauce, etc. I rarely have a hard time still enjoying a dish or even finishing one. This slider should not have depended on cheese/sauce to make it taste better. The mushroom(the protein!) alone should have been flavorful. The bread should not have crumbled between my fingers. The mixed greens should taste fresh. As for the french fries? I was so disappointed. Frozen fries? In a french-fusion truck? Barely fried through, and it didn’t have a golden appearance to it. No amount of truffle oil or truffle salt will save it. You can’t take a bad ingredient, dash a little bit of expensive ingredient on it and call it good. I gave my food away to my boyfriend and I made my own slider later that night that ended up tasting fresher and more flavorful. Oui Chef has the right ideas, but they are poorly implemented.

I would have given this place 4 solid stars as my fried chicken and egg slider was quite tasty. However since this was parked in the street food parklet by COSTCO with a bunch of other trucks, I really wish they would offer One slider versions rather than having to either order 2 qty Or 1 w/fries(OR even if you could get 2 qty, but 2 different flavors) Here’s the thing, if I go to where all the trucks are parked I want to try a few things, they force you to fill up at their truck. But like I said my fried chicken and egg slider was delish and served on a sweet roll. Just the forced quantity of the order was a bit frustrating.

The sliders were much bigger than I expected them to be. Each one was the size of an In N Out burger. Ordering four was a mistake. The Angus beef sliders($ 8.50 for 2, $ 1 extra for cheese — ugh) were greasy and flavorful. The crab cake sliders($ 9 for 2) were a bit dry and didn’t taste great. The buns were not toasted and somewhat cold. I also got a side of herb pomme frites($ 4). They were really dry and tasted oddly of ginger. I like ginger, and I like fries. I don’t like them together.

Been here twice and they’re pretty consistent with their flavors. The first time I came I had the Angus Beef sliders and Chicken Schnitzel sliders. Both were really good. They look small, but it’s a good portion. The sliders were piled high, the perfect bite if you ask me. There’s some kind of sauce on the Angus Beef slider that’s really tasty. My second time here I again had the Angus Beef sliders with the Truffle Mac & Cheese. I wasn’t expecting a big cup full of mac & cheese. The cheese combo mixed with mushrooms was perfect. It wasn’t heavy, the sauce was pretty light and the bread crumbs gave it a nice texture. They make it to order, so the wait is 10 minutes, but so worth it. Oui oui to Oui Chef! You guys rock!

Oui Chef bills itself as «french american bistro», offers its fare via a food truck. french cuisine isn’t familiar to me so take my review with a grain of foie gras. review with deal with taste, presentation, not whether it’s authentic.(i.e. a generic review) locale: soma street eats(10⁄17) eats: crab cake slider(2⁄9) –has coleslaw, piquillo peppers, chipotle aioli, scallop & crab –small(micro) slider, big piece of fried crab cake, tasted mushy(from scallops, i presume) –crab, and all other flavors not tasted. –ingredients all tasted fresh 3.5 stars crumbs: –about 4 kinds of sliders, french tacos, fries offered. –probably would taste great with a glass of wine. –fab, friendly service –crab cake tasted cooked to order. –maybe tacos next? –value is in the mouth of the eater. to each his own…
