It is food truck, but I still think it is quite expensive. I can pay a few dollars more to eat in a good restaurant with better foods. I had the curry udon. What country curry is that? I am Asian and have eaten quite a lot of different curry cuisine. The tempura was way too oily.

Food was better than I expected. It was flavorful and we also got tempura that came with our soup! My complaint is that I was a starving bear, and the guy at poked his head out of the truck and said«I’ll be right with you.» I was the only bear waiting in the front of the line with my 2 human friends, and we waited for 20 minutes to get our order taken. «I’ll be right with you» should not = a 20 minute wait. We kept trying to look into the food truck to see what was going on in there. «Hellooooo from the other side…(of the truck.)» We almost just walked away at that point but decided to give it another few minutes. Then after finally taking our order, they said our food would be out in 5 minutes, and it took 10 — 15! These guys need to learn the art of the phrase«under promise and over deliver.» If they had told us upfront that it would have been a longer wait, we could at least have grabbed drinks at another one of the trucks and come back!

Went back, still udon. Still tasty, and warm in my belly. I have now tried the city and been fortunate enough, to brave the garlic. I like them both. Will be back.

Not fully sure how I feel about the food. I ordered the miso udon which came with shrimp tempura… It looked beautiful, and the noodles were very tasty but that s all the praise their. The soup and shrimp were both sour! At first I thought maybe I was mixing too many flavor profiles, but tried again. Same result and was sick about 4 hours later. I don’t know if this is their normal flavor profile, but a very far off surprise for miso and seafood.

It’s a food truck! Yes I didn’t know that and luckily there were two of us in the car so I could run in. I placed my order on OrderAhead so came right in and went to the window on the side(skip the line!) and asked for my order and boom, out it came. Tried the normal udon and the fancy one(the one with kim chee). They were both good but I preferred the normal one because the special one has a much stronger sesame flavor and I didn’t care for that. If you like sesame then you should definitely get the fancy kim chee one. The chicken karaage was just ok. I would not recommend getting it — especially for takeout because it gets soggy(as would most fried foods if you take it home). Containers are clean and neat and allow you to do takeout of udon soup just fine. But eat it quickly because the containers don’t keep heat in so it was a little cold by the time I got home.

INCREDIBLE vegan udon. The broth was so flavorful and the noodles were perfectly handmade. Loaded with veggies as well, and loved the onions. This will definitely be a go-to for me.

Mifune, move over. If you love homemade udon noodles and broth, you will want to check out Odang Udon. Found them last night at the SoMA StrEat Food Park. Had the«Classic,» which has fresh-made noodles, dashi, tempura flakes, mushrooms, green onions, and seasonal vegetable tempura. The noodles were excellent – thick and chewy. The dashi was fabulous – tasty and not too salty. The vegetable tempura was served separately and was light and crisp. All this deliciousness for only $ 8! This is a winner, all the way around.

On rare occasions, I eat at the same place twice in the same day. Today, Odang Udon was the place. After getting off work, I rushed over to SoMa StrEats(A gathering of food trucks on 11th) before they closed at 3. I walked around and stumbled upon Odang Udon. It was a cold day, and a steaming bowl of udon was so enticing. I went with their miso udon. Presented in a plastic bowl w/lid, it’s a portable meal that you can grab and go or stack and take to a table. The miso udon came with shrimp and veggie tempura on the side. Very nice value for $ 11. I was not at all disappointed. I left full, warm, and happy. Hours pass and my girlfriend get off work. I decided to return to StrEats, as they reopen at 5pm. Again, I could not resist the udon! So I ordered the miso udon for my girlfriend and curry udon for myself. I love curry, all kinds. There was just something about the thick curry broth with the udon noodles that made it unenjoyable. Also maybe the miso udon set the bar too high for me. The guys that helped me were great. They suggested a fried egg on top. It was excellent with the miso udon. The curry udon was what made this a 4 star experience for me. Next time I’m sticking with what I know and I know the miso udon with fried egg is AMAZING!

I’ll be straight up and say that I’m a fan of Odang Udon. It’s something different that’s not going with the ramen bandwagon and they have a nice selection of Udon Noodle bowls that’ll satisfy any appetite. I finally stopped by their truck at the SoMa Streatfood Park and ordered their signature City Odang. City Odang – fresh made noodles, chopped marinated skirt steak, cucumber, egg, kimchee, special city sauce I was little surprised by this because I misread the ingredients and thought this was a soup bowl, but this was a dry noodle bowl. No matter though, the udon noodles were cooked good, the steak had great flavor, and the egg was nice and runny. Overall, it’s a solid bowl of noodles and I’d order this again. As with any ramen house, I usually order a side of chicken karaage to go with my ramen, or in this case, my bowl of udon. Chicken Karaage Side Order – I think I may have gotten a bad batch because every single piece I had was burned on the bottom. Still managed to eat them, but the burned parts ruined the taste. Hopefully this was a just an off night for them with their karaage. Otherwise I’d pass on ordering these as a side or add-on. Overall, Odang Udon gets a solid 4 stars from me. Aside from the karaage, I was very happy with their City Odang bowl and I’d love to go back to try their other Udon bowls if they’re around. Worth a try!

I love this place. I eat at food trucks quite frequently and Odang is definitely a stand out which is why I go back time and time again. The noodles are broths are noticeably fresh and handmade which already puts them head and shoulders above many other food trucks, who can over rely on fried foods and fatty/sugary sauces to achieve flavor. Where other trucks cut corners Odang does things the right way, building restaurant quality food with serious depth of flavor in a tiny food truck kitchen. I’m impressed with the quality and consistency every time I eat here. My favorite by far is the city bowl, where their signature noodles meet tender and delicious steak, tangy and spicy kimchee, and a fried egg, all over a thick and savory sauce. It’s the best of savory Japanese noodles combined with the varied flavors and textures you would find in a Korean Bibimbop bowl. It’s one of those bowls that you start eating and don’t look up or say anything until you are done. That good! Come check this place out. They’re parked at SoMa StrEat Food Park full time. The food is soulful and memorable and the owners and cooks are all very nice. Highly recommended!

Authentic housemade Udon and very tasty TSUYU(soup). I’m Japanese. I know Udon. I don’t eat udon-ish Udon at J-Town, but I’ll definitely come back Odang Udon for another bowl of UDON, very soon.

Meh. Not terrible, but I wouldn’t eat here again. The line was exceptionally long and slow moving(don’t understand why as there were four guys working in the truck). I ordered the curry noodles and walked around to the other side of the truck to wait. While standing there I watched one of the workers open an industrial size can of ‘fully cooked curry sauce’. .. when I got my food the noodles were great as expected, but the curry sauce was a disappointment since it was only lukewarm and from a can. Why would you go through the trouble of making noodles from scratch and then put canned sauce on it? Also the vegetable tempura was disappointing. The tempura batter was more like an onion ring than a delightful crunchy light tempura batter. The vegetables only consisted of onions and carrots, and both were oddly shaped pieces. Then instead of serving with either tempura sauce or even soy sauce, they were served with a side of sweet and sour sauce. A big disappointment.

They used to park in the food truck lot on 13th between Mission and Valencia, but maybe they’ve relocated for good at the SOMA Street Food Park? If so, what a bummer — 13th was so mellow! I only get udon noodle soups(Miso is where it’s at ya’ll) and have never been disappointed. It takes some time to pick up my order, but the people are friendly, occasionally funny, and make it worthwhile. FANTASTIC udon noodles, which you can easily tell are fresh. The broths lean towards the salty side, but it’s PERFECT with the side of fried veggies. I dip the veggies(I think there’s an occasional tempura shrimp with the tempura veggies) in the broth rather than the sauce they give and am one happy camper. Enoki, green onions, and other mushrooms in the broth just complete everything. And portion wise? Always more than enough.

I couldn’t bring myself to leave a 1* so I’ll just believe they make up for their food with effort. The curry udon is maybe the worst dish I’ve had from a food truck. The udon is thick for the sake of being thick — doesn’t have the right elasticity that udon is supposed to have. Texture is just wrong. It wasn’t soggy, but you bite into the noodle and there’s no bounce. I would say go eat real udon and you’ll know what I’m talking about but there’s nowhere in SF for that(Mugizo maybe). The curry was like a flavorless soup. The kakiage was sitting in small pool of oil and falling apart. And it came with sweet chili or some sweet/sour sauce? Wtf? Also, like a lot of food trucks, bad value. Small bowl of noodles for $ 9 – 10. I get that they’re not really going for authenticity. Or are they? I can’t tell.

OHDANG… is what i said after i ate their delicious City Bowl with beef and an egg on top. Went with 3 coworkers and we all had the same thing and felt the same way. Make your way over to this lot during the week. Parking available and you will be back at work before the boss knows you are away. Will be back.

The kimchi(city) udon at odang is one of the best noodle dishes I’ve ever had in this country; it’s definitely the freshest, tastiest bowl of udon I’ve had outside of Japan. I can’t even properly describe the dish itself. It’s reminiscent of «gonlo» noodles… the dry type of street noodles that’s popular in Southeast Asia– chock full of «wok hei», cooked in a cast iron wok over a high flame with great seasoning that has depth of flavor. The udon was freshly made in the truck from an imported udon machine flown in from Japan. The texture of the noodle was chewy and just the right consistency of al dense and perfectly balanced– not too heavy/thick, not too thin. I could have polished off a couple more bowls of the kimchi city udon. I also got to taste the miso udon. The broth was delicious– again, tons of flavor without being salty. We ordered a bunch of sides: tempura shrimps and vegetables and karaage chicken. They were freshly fried, piping hot, crunchy and wonderful on a chilly Saturday evening. I came here a few days ago and I’ve been dreaming of the udon ever since. I’ll definitely be back– this time to try the beef rolls! Absolutely a must-try. Please open at G Food lounge on weekdays!!!

Odang Udon features freshly made udon noodles. classic, vegetarian, city, curry versions available. locale: duboce food stop(1⁄29) eats: Curry Udon(9) –small portion freshly made udon, green onions, a button mushroom, tempura flakes, seaweed, corn, commercially made curry, etc. –side of seasoned vegetable tempura all stuck together, could have been better, soya based dipping sauce. –tasted good, not a frequent udon eater so can’t compare 3.5 stars take outs: –would skip the curry, go for the classic if i had to do it over. –no parking here so good luck finding a spot… –thinking offerings are overpriced re portions offered, i.e. not a good value 3 stars for value. this means all udon(which i haven’t ate) aren’t a good value. since packaged udon cheap? –open till 2 only.

This new, up and coming food truck will SWEEP San Francisco. Well, not a lot of food trucks can properly do noodles, yet alone give portions that can satisfy. OdangUdon does. Yes, DANG, indeed. A very unique twist on semi dry noodles and will leave you craving for more, guaranteed. Freshly made noodles and not to mention their sides are equally as good. They’re on their way to getting a beer license — once they do, it’ll definitely be a great pairing to their wonderful array of dishes. OdangUdon, dang you good.
