Service was great — from the bartender, the maitre d’, to the server. The food was inconsistent. Wine was great.

Love this place — super yummy raviolis and a fun place for a large group in the prosciutto room downstairs! Make sure you do make a reservation on a weekend evening.

This has always been my favorite pizza place to go with my family. I always get a combo pizza and clams and linguini with white sauce. Those two are my favorite.

Went to Beach Blanket Babylon & to this restaurant for my third time with Bunny of the Year 2015CARESSA Kisses. Classy place, waiters in black suits, the breads were amazing omg, three types & I am trying no starches but are a bunch. The carpaccio & prosciutto was superb, the minestrone was super & the clams with angel hair CK ordered she raved about. They brought us a desert that was super, didn’t ask what it was but damn !!

First the wine guy was awesome… Very informative and the wine was wonderful We ordered dinner… The veal scaloppine on the special was phenomenal tender and flavorful… However I ordered the lamb … Was supposed to have been marinated in rosemary and garlic… Oops I think they forgot to put those in the marinade as I did not taste them at all… Also the lamb chops were very thin and lots of bone chips… Not well cooked and no flavor… This was a «special» of the night… Not special at all so thin over cooked no flavor… Also the tiramisu was not flavorful and literally dripped non flavorful liquid…

Went here for a rather important dinner… the meeting of my parents with my soon to be in-laws. Very unimpressed. The server seemed to be having a super off day. He would take one drink order, then go and pick up the drink, then not ask if anyone else wanted anything to drink. This«style» of service continued throughout the meal, making for a very bumpy overall dining experience. The food was also not tasty. Would definitely never eat here again.

Excellent. I had the oso buco which was cooked perfect. Best I have ever had. My wife had veal scalopini it melted in your mouth. This is a busy loud traditional Italian restaurant. Service is good.

Amaaaazing food! I don’t understand the poor reviews on here. I had a fabulous meal and will most likely return if I am every feeling indulgent! Came here for a holiday dinner with my colleagues and we basically were told to get whatever we wanted. We each had a sampler appetizer plate that consisted of lobster tail, prosciutto and a type of cheese. Each one tasted like butter. The prosciutto paired with the cheese melted in my mouth and the lobster tail was super juicy and delicious! We then ordered a main dish and my colleague and I split a T-bone steak with pasta. I wish I remembered what pasta we ordered but wow both dishes did not disappoint! Then to top off our amazing meals, we ended the night with a sampler platter of desserts: cheesecake, pudding, tiramisu and dipped strawberries. The meal was phenomenal and the waiters were incredible friendly. Great restaurant!

Went for a friend’s birthday in a group of 7 and it was great! The food was amazing, the interior design was subpar, and the servers was very friendly! Will definitely come back! P. s. If you want your food spicy, make sure you order«spicy»(instead of «medium»).

Such a great place… Authentic Italian food! Great ambiance, the waiter was incredible straight out of little Italy in New York Pasta freshly made leaving you wanting more Chicken parm seriously melted in your mouth with an incredible sauce. Yes a little pricey but worth it. A cab driver told us if we try it– we would always come back again on every visit to San Fran and yes he was right… look forward to my next visit there !! Yummy

Favorite Italian restaurant in SF. Don’t let the fact there is a little Asian host who will greet you at the door fool you. This is top notch old school Italian. Start with the melon wrapped house aged prosciutto. It does a great job setting the stage for the amazing Roquefort salad, chicken Marsala, and spaghetti vodka(house specialty). The Indian Somalia has been there years and will do some nice wine pairings. Although not a traditional Italian dessert, be sure to order the flan. It’s some of the best you’ll ever have. The only negative is the acoustics. Most areas are very noisy. Ask for the quietest location in the restaurant when making the reservation.

Solid & classy. If a quiet & grown-up restaurant is what you’re after, then this is your spot. The food can be hit or miss. But over the years, I’ve never had a bad meal here. No celebrity chef, no surprises on the menu. The focus is on tradition & authenticity. I find that comforting, & I respect it. And since the son of the original owner took over, the food has improved. The pastas & seafood are strong. And if you like veal, it’s a must order here. Uniformed, male-only servers. In fact, the only female employee, ever, is Marilyn, the bar manager. Marilyn is professional to an art form. And Warren, the host w the most, is perhaps the best Maitre D in SF. He is gifted & doing what he was born to do. If you come in on a day that both Warren & Marilyn are working, you’ve hit the jackpot. There’s a reason that this used to be former Mayor Willie Brown’s living room. 4 stars.

Beyond amazing food and service! Escargot, clams pasta, tortellini, beer and proseco. Our waiter was amazing. We had no reservations and didn’t have to wait that long. Everything was top notch. One of my faves from now on. Top notch dining without being snooty or stuffy.

Cannelloni — one of the best in the SF bay area(i’ve done extensive research) Special lamb chops — couldn’t be better Cesar salad — excellent, and the ½ salad is enough if you’re having a main course We had a table by the front window: a great seat to watch passers-by, but with the comfort of indoor heating. Old school waiters wearing formal black attire — I like that. Highly recommended.

We have been wandering around little Italy to find a decent place to have dinner and ended up choosing to eat here. Service: top notch. No waiting, full of tables available, server was a bit pushy but very knowledgable and more of butler quality, not your typical server. Ambience: very nice setting, good quality flatware, quiet and high class feeling. Food: tasted good though veal was a bit too salty. We had: 1. Antipasti: we had two, calamari– it was truly well made, loved it. Server kept going on about how great the ‘cured prosciutto and melon’ was and we tried that. It was indeed good. Based on the two items we got, they do an excellent job. 2. Entrée: Sea scallops: okay it was the best I had in a very very long time. They know what they’re doing! Veal chop: it was a bit salty to my taste, but tasted great. 3. Dolci: Will I skip tiramisu? No way. And boy was it good. I’ve tried tiramisu pretty much every place that offers it. This place, they do a better job than most places I’ve been to. I’ll put it at top 5%. I’d highly recommend this place. It’s quite expensive compared to most places and it is worth it. The reason I don’t give perfect 5 is because the server was professional and knowledgable but completely ignored my questions and only talked with my friend, I felt as though I’m being ignored because I’m not a man. I don’t like being treated like this. But the food itself was good to earn the restaurant a 4 stars from me.

I was meaning to write this review right after dining at the restaurant but didn’t get around to it. Finally I have some time to say what a wonderful night I had. MARCO, our waiter was fantastic! I can rave about what an exceptional job he did for hours and hours if Unilocal let me lol. Excellent food, stupendous service, and magnificent setting! A must on any tourist list of places to enjoy a nice dinner and drinks!

I had enjoyed dining here many years ago and got a chance to visit again while back in town on business. I couldn’t convince anyone to join me so went solo. I was warmly greeted and shown to a nice small table with a view of all the dining room goings on. There are lots of yummy options on the menu but I called an audible and asked for a chicken parm. While waiting for my dish to be prepared, I was offered a large selection of bread along with olive oil on the table. All good stuff and kept me happy. The chicken parm was served with several sliced roasted potatoes and veggies. I thought pasta was an option but I was told no substitutions. Actually worked out fine in the end as I didn’t start slipping into a food coma towards the end of the meal. The service here is impeccable. My waiter was very attentive and knew the menu and dishes inside and out. I’ll be back for sure but hopefully not after such a long gap as this time.

Some restaurants you come to more for the experience than the food. This is exactly that kind of place. I came here as part of a group and didn’t make the choice myself, and I’m not sure I ever would have, so I arrived with few expectations. Food is fine. I wasn’t wowed, and I wasn’t dismayed. The Caesar seemed overly mayonnaise-like to me, and the house carbonara was slightly oily but okay. My dessert of zabaglione and strawberries was lovely. The servers seem to have worked here forever, and a steady crowd came and went all evening. The décor is an odd mix, with almost Asian-style art on the walls. Upstairs has about 20 tables and a bar, and the cellar rooms downstairs are dark and mobish. Ask to see the prosciutto room. It’s exactly what you imagine it would be.

Old school restaurant with friendly service but the food is just not what it should be. Party of 3 and none of our food was good. Even the tiramisu wasn’t good, the biscuit were way too wet. Anyways, not the amazing experience the concierge of the hotel sold us !
