This place has declined quite a bit. As other reviewers have said you used to have to ask for light cheese, now it’s included. A pizza from here should not be orange especially since it’s $ 28 for a large. I’ve seen more cheese on a Little Caesars pizza. Really really disappointing.

A neighborhood favorite! Usually no lines and they deliver. I sometimes have their garlic bread as a meal onto itself :)

I’ve been going to North Beach Pizza for many, many years, but this was my first visit to the spot across the street from the old joint(yeah, it’s been a while since I was last there.) Newsflash: Holiday Season 2015, annual family journey to SF… I always try to end my day-long traipse through SF with some really good pizza and this year was no different. Unfortunately, there are few restaurants open at 2PM on a Tuesday afternoon(many closed and a few completely shutdown between Christmas and New Years — good for them, much respect.) So, just being open was a plus, and NBP was one of the few places open. The«new» restaurant is nice(even though I loved the funky spot across the street!) Service was really good — given there was only ONE waitress working her ass off between tables in a pretty full restaurant. Greek salad — quite nice. Four pizzas — good, perfect for our hungry crowd, but not great/amazing as NBP produced years ago. I’ll even boldly say this… NBP barely holds up to my local pizza joint in San Ramon(and SR is a vast wasteland of mediocre food.) Bottom line: I liked NBP well enough, but wouldn’t return if other spots nearby were open. Not as good as it used to be… 3 stars — really kinda dissapointed.

Let’s say 2.5 stars. Called to order for delivery. Website Menu says there is a Chef Salad, guy says the menu changed 2 weeks ago and they no longer have the Chef Salad. Really? Spaghetti with meatballs was just ok. The pasta is bland so salt was necessary. Asked for Parmesan Cheese… didn’t show up which was a bummer. Cheese Ravioli with white sauce was good. Fresh bread and butter was also tasty. Took over and hour for delivery. For those two entrees and one slice of cheesecake it was $ 39 before tip. Kind of a lot of money for a very average meal.

I gave it 5 stars, Only place in san Francisco with Authentic Pizza that is not on «fluffy» sourdough. The ingredients are pure, fresh & delicious. i ate outside all the time. restaurant was always too crowded. and only ever had Pizza. although Pizza in SF cost more than NYC

I’m a regular at their Berkeley location and absolutely love it, so I figured that the original establishment would be even better, but after dining in one evening; I have to say I wasn’t impressed. The food was good, but the service was absolutely awful, the workers weren’t very friendly and they took forever to return to our table to check if we needed anything, and twice I had walk over to the counter to get service. Like I mentioned above, the food was good, but that just isn’t enough for me to want to return, I’ll stick with Berkeley.

Pizza in California sucks. Everywhere. All the time. Donatos is my favorite pizza. This place came highly recommended and per the usual… It was just pizza. Lazy. Boring. Same old pizza. We walked past at least 15 restaurants packed with people… And got here and we were the only people in the place. We ordered a small cheese pizza,?coronas, and fried zucchini. Zucchini — small fry like pieces fried in a heavy batter. Pretty good if u like batter more than zucchini. Wasn’t what I am used to but it was ok. Coronas came with lemons… Pizza was what I’ve come to expect everywhere in California. Mostly bread. Cheese in the middle and then gets lighter until it becomes a 3″ piece of crust — half the pie missing toppings. Sauce was bland. Cheese was alright tho! Won’t go back unless I’m hammered drunk and even then — the odds of me walking an extra block to get to this place are extremely low.

Mixed experience. Sometimes it’s a 3 – 4. Others it’s a 1. Why gamble? Find another place that is consistent. Years ago this place used to be great. They used a lot of toppings, ample cheese, high quality ingredients, etc. The pizzas arrived on time and were cooked well. Fast forward from about 6 + years ago to today and things have changed. They use half the cheese they used to. The toppings are also about half the amount and the quality is a little less than I remember in general. The cooking is inconsistent. Sometimes the dough is not done and/or the thing is all soggy, especially in the middle. Gross! Prices have gone up and they stopped giving out coupons with delivery. They now charge a «delivery fee.» Delivery times are VERY inconsistent. Sometimes they are there in 30 min while others, such as last night, they took an hour 20. They price gouge on toppings when designing your own pizza from their topping menu. A medium pizza is $ 30+ at three sparse toppings!!! Crazy! When I am ordering a delivery pizza I’m usually in a place mentally where I do not want to be hassled and jacked with. With N. Beach Pizza it’s like rolling the dice. I may get a decent(but expensive!) pizza in 30 min or less… or I may(more likely it seems) get a soggy, cold, limp, expensive salty blob of sparse, low grade toppings in a box an hour and a half later… after having to call to see if they lost my order. Who needs the potential hassle?! I don’t. I just want to know I am going to get a decent quality properly cooked pizza in around 30 min. or so. If I am willing to roll the dice there better at least be the prospect of getting an over the top mind blowing quality pizza. Unfortunately, even at it’s best NBP is just a little above average. Why gamble when the maximum payout is merely«acceptable?» I’ll pass. Sorry, NBP, but I am moving on…

Messed up my order. I called in and told them. They put me on hold for 10 mins. Never answered my questions or corrected the problem.

Went here on a Tuesday for lunch. We got the Hawaiian pizza and the pesto chicken pizza which were both delicious. The cheesy garlic bread was also amazing. Great for kids too. The dining area wasn’t crowded at all and they have a separate area if you just want to get pizza by the slice.

Remember when NB Pizza was really good? I sure do. I used to get a pie here every weekend. ½ North Beach, ½ Coit Tower. Those were the days… I’m sorry to say that, today, it’s just a thin crust of what it once was. Now, even back in the day when people flocked here, you still had to ask for light cheese. Otherwise, they would pile that dairy on like there was no tomorrow. That I can live with. Toppings that are dry & flavorless, w a cardboard crust, are things I cannot. Being able to order until 2am(or later some nights) has sustained them for a very long time. Plus the fact that they deliver that late too… well, that’s a huge plus in life. Sometimes life gives you stuff & you might need a pizza delivered after midnight. Or 2:00am. And you don’t want that pizza to be from Mr. Pizza Man. Trust me. But now, w the Great Pizza Renaissance this town is in, & all the competition that brings, I can no longer just default to NB Pizza. The times have a changed. In a pinch, or just to fill your belly, I can see it. Otherwise? Pass. Still, better than Mr. Pizza Man. 2 stars.

Pizza’s great, service sucks. But it always has and probably always will. I keep coming back cause it’s great pizza though. Tiny place, overpacked, dirty tables, understaffed. Waiter forgot my salad this last time we visited but he didn’t charge us for it so it’s OK. There is no hostess of any kind so there’s no real order to the place. If they were to get some more waiters and a hostess this place would rock. But keep making the pizza the way you do cause it’s some of the best in North Beach!

I have been to this pizza place on 3 separate occasions. The first time was fine. The second time they forgot my pizza and after I reminded them, brought it without any deduction from the bill. The night of Santacon we decided to go back since we had a large group and there was not a long wait. Worst mistake. 1. There was a piece of hair in our breadsticks 2. They forgot ANOTHER pizza 3. There was ANOTHER piece of hair in one of the pizzas We told the waitress and since she was the only one working, we were not attended to at first. Finally, the manager comes over and only offered a discount off the bill instead of completely removing the pizza and breadsticks that contained that hair. Have not been back since and would recommend going a block down to Tony’s or a different, much cleaner and better pizza joint which are scattered all across North Beach.

The pizza tasted like it was sitting for over 30 minutes until it got delivered. I waited over an hour and 10 mins. The driver didn’t even deliver to my front door. He said wasn’t able to leave his car. HELLO you are suppose to deliver to my door not me come outside to get it and of course I did not give a tip. The cheesecake was small sliced and looked like it was moving around in the clear container, very messy. The fried zucchini was very soggy and had no taste to it all, I would NEVER order from this place again. I’m very disappointed with the food!!!

1.5 stars. So we were relaxing in our hotel room one weekday evening when my boyfriend and I were a bit hungry. Our hotel’s restaurant surprsingly doesn’t have room service for lunch & dinner(only breakfast), so this is the restaurant they partner with to order food and have delivered. The menu says, «Fast Delivery», yet the arrival of the delivery took an hour and 15 minutes, which is what they said up front when we ordered. I had dozed off and by the time the food came, I honestly wasn’t hungry anymore. We ordered a chicken salad and meatball sub. The chicken in the salad seemed like some hard, 2-day old chunks and the sub sandwich was edible, but that ‘s about it. The delivery guy was nice though!

This pizza was on point! We went per recommendation of a local San Franciscan and it passed our expectations. The calamari was crispy and delicious. We ordered a pizza called the special and also a classic pepperoni. Crust was soft, but crispy and basically perfect all over. Just the right amount of topping, cheese and sauce. We loved it so much. If we come back, we will make sure to visit it again.

I ordered the Coit Tower pizza while in town visiting and was very impressed! The pizza had great flavor and was delivered in 45 minutes(for free!). At $ 20 for a small(incl. tax) it’s certainly not the cheapest pizza, but the taste was great and I would order again.

GREATDELIVERYSERVICE! I was attracted to the $ 10 delivery minimum… Food got here in under an hour and it was still hot. I ordered the eggplant parmagiana and meat toasted ravioli which they gave me in a cake box… Interesting but when I opened the box everything was nice packaged. They even gave me napkins, fork and knife, crushed red peppers and Parmesan cheese, and 3 slices of French bread with butter. VERY impressed with the level of effort. The food itself was amazing. I’m used to my toasted ravioli being served with marinara sauce but the one they gave me was even better because it had nice herbs in it. The eggplant parmagiana was a huge portion. 2 large slices of eggplant and generous helping of spaghetti with some vegetables. Very impressed and I’ll definitely order from here again :)

Food 5– stars! We had the cheese ravioli in pesto sauce and the chicken parmesan sandwich. Both were really, really good and we took half of it home, portions were just too big. Only 4– stars in total because of the appearance. The place itself is cute, has enough tables and a separate area for take outs and pizza by slice. Restrooms are way cleaner than expected. However it looked a little cluddered, maybe it was just really busy before we got there but free tables were still dirrty and full of dishes. And i am so sorry to say that because our waitress was super nice but the staff was the first reason why I doubted the quality of this place. Like I said, it turned out that she was really friendly and we didnt have to wait long for food and drinks. However the staff really has to work on their grooming standards. Ripped pants, dirty nails, nail polish crumbeled off. Just doesn’t work for me at all, sorry.

Ok it’s really 4,5 stars … but it sure as hell is not 3 stars. I’m talking Margarita Pizza done right! Thin crispy crust, stretchy cheese, fresh basil & tomatoes. Just the way I like it. We’ll done!!!
