Such a nice owner! He recommended hot fudge ice cream and it was absolutely delicious! Gave me and my bf some pointers on how to find the Bart to get to the arena. Will definitely be coming back to this place when I visit San Francisco again!

Norman’s has a lot of interesting ice cream flavors. My sister and I tried ube, which we both enjoyed. The staff is friendly and let us try samples before we ordered.

This place is a small little ice cream store in the fisherman wharf in the cannery . The owners are such sweethearts. They are so welcoming and engage in conversations with their customers and they made me want to come back and visit them again ~ I tried the caramel praline and ube and ended up getting the ube ~ it was more unique than other ice cream stores i have been too and it tasted smooth and yummy! I would definitely recommend the ube . The caramel praline was a little sweet and less praline-flavored which is how i usually like it . I got one scoop but the portion was pretty good ~ I am a huge fan of ice cream in general and will definitely go back to try more flavors !

Visiting the left coast from Denver, got my pinoy dessert fix of halo halo. Really good tasty stuff. Only a few places to get pinoy cuisine in the Rocky mountains, but most are an Amerasian fusion. I thankfully got the real deal here. My tummy was very happy. :-p

This is honestly my go to spot for ice cream. I love love LOVE this place. They serve Mitchell’s ice cream and if you’re in San Francisco, you have to try it. My mom loves the rum raisin(which is legit good). I got the mint chocolate chip ice cream and the chocolate sundae. Every bite was amazing. It’s so creamy. They have super friendly staff too. If you’re near Pier 39 and want to walk a bit, come try this ice cream place!

I’m afraid this place to be a bit of a hype. I was excited after finding an ice cream shop that wasn’t as mainstream. Norman’s wasn’t bad but wasn’t amazing. I also expected them to have more interesting flavors. I had a scoop of ube and vanilla. The ube was fine but have had better in my Asian grocery stores. The vanilla was quite lackluster. The consistency itself could have been creamier. Lady was nice and friendly. Think I would have moreso enjoyed some ice cream at Ghiradelli.

Norman’s rocks my socks. We go here all the time and always get a hot fudge sundae with one scoop banana and one scoop macapuno(coconut), no whip, but peanuts and two cherries. Yum! The woman who works late at night is truly the sweetest and the man that is sometimes with her is also beyond kind. We sit outside in the courtyard and it is everything. Do it — you won’t be disappointed!

This place is awesome! Great Ice Cream and service! This place is also located inside of the cannery. It is very small and if you’re not looking for it you could miss it. One of the best chocolate milkshakes that I’ve had in years!

Absolutely delicious ice cream in rich scoops BUT so expensive… I always am surprised how many people(including myself) pay 3.75 $ for one scoop and 6.75 $ for two scoops!

The owners are so cute and nice! The ice cream is delicious! Everything is just perfect. The chocolate caramel icecream is bomb diggitty and my friend loved her ube icecream. But I would go again just cause the owners were so cute and nice. The ice cream is super yummy though.

My wife and daughter had a craving for a milkshake after dinner on Fisherman’s Wharf in the Ghirardelli Square area, and Ghirardelli’s is the obvious choice. But with a line out the door and down the sidewalk, we quickly decided against that. So we wandered around the wharf, and just happened to stumble upon Norman’s. What a find! It’s a very small place, and almost seems like it’s «tucked away under the stairs». The milkshakes were great, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend you search this place out, and avoid the long lines at the other place.

Super delicious vanilla ice cream sundaes and lovely scooped single cones! This family owned shop is definitely a hidden treasure. The cute couple serving us were hilarious and friendly and made the experience and this small ice cream shop very memorable! We enjoyed our ice cream in the small outdoor seating area listening to the good jams that they played on their radio! The thin mint ice cream is sure to please everyone!

Norman’s was an excellent choice for a great afternoon ice cream without the price and lines at Ghiradelli square. So by and see Norm, he will be there with his smile, awesome service, and great ice cream! Visitors from Virginia!

I ordered a scoop of the Ube(purple yam) and coconut. I don’t like coconut ice cream, but I sure liked that one! The Ube was good too. It was a good pairing. My husband ordered the Oreo cookie. He claims to be a cookies n crème connoisseur, and said this was pretty good. I agree, Oreo cookie was delicious. The ice cream was creamy and the cookies were soft. The waffle cone was an extra $ 1. Not too thrilled about that, but with baby in tow, we can always use a free hand. FYI-They let you sample ice cream. I recommend you order something different, just for the experience. Oh and the service is great. The man working there was excited for us to sample the ice cream and recommend certain pairings. Enjoy!

A total gem of the touristy wharf — as a long term San Francisco local. Any ice cream lover, connoisseurs of Hawaiian-like(this place actually has a tropical twist it is Philippino!) tropical flavors, should come here for fudge or ice cream coffee or giradelli(cannot spell) hot chocolate(perfect for me chilly San Francisco post ice cream consumption. Here u can find homemade american must: hot fudge, coffee, giradelli(again sorry fail spell) chocolate flavored ice cream and also imported special yam, melon like tropical fruit, manapuno meaty coconut… The menus are all cute illustrated hand written like Japanese style kawaii. It’s cash only. But hey it’s soooooo awesome who cares

I love mom & pop /local shops and this is a prime example of one. The owner was extremely friendly and welcomed us to sample and try the ice cream. I really liked the unique flavors(ube and coconut) and opted to get the halo halo with a scoop of ube ice cream, which was really good. She told me that it was the«best halo halo on the wharf» haha — very cute. The bf got a banana milkshake which was also really creamy and tasty.

It’s a tiny shop located inside the brick building called, «The Cannery» in Fisherman’s Wharf, so easy walk to it. I ordered two scoops of Mitchell’s homemade ice cream in San Francisco and the flavors were Rum Raisin and Mango. The owner is very friendly and asked where I was visiting from and I said I am local. Then he said it is nice to play tourist once in a while. That brought a smile to my face. He said I could sample any flavors if I wanted to which was nice. I paid for my ice cream and ate it outside on the one table and a pigeon was walking by, but I said to it, «No, this ice cream is all mine, so go away!» I enjoyed my ice cream. It is always good to support the local shops and not go to the other ice cream shops along Fisherman’s Wharf.

Norman’s Ice Cream & Freezes is located in The Cannery at Del Monte Square, a wonderful little oasis from the bustle of Fisherman’s Wharf and afternoon scorching sun. There’s the busy Flying Ninja entrance, but go deep enough(or just enter from the alternate entrance) and you will find yourself in a quiet, shady plaza home to The Cannery branch of the Academy of Art University. Norman’s is somewhere in there. Unless you are some sort of ice cream connoisseur who can appreciate the finer differences between ice cream, under no circumstances should you simply buy their ice cream in straight-up scoops. A single scoop is $ 3.75 in a +0 cent cake cone. When a single scoop of ice cream can cost you more than a bucket of ice cream at the supermarket, my feeling is that it had better be something really special from the very first lick. This is not. Even trying the«most interesting flavour» of the day — and on that particular day I was recommended the Filipino ube(purple yam) — did not make me feel any better about the one scoop I got. According to Unilocal, people love this place, but it looks like the main reason is they got something more complicated than just a scoop of ice cream. If you really want to go to Norman’s Ice Cream, do yourself a favour and spend more than $ 3.75 to find out what they can really do. Maybe it’s my mistake not to have bought something bigger, but if you are going to charge people $ 3.75 for straight-up ice cream, how about two scoops or one«wow» size scoop?

This place has the best ice cream in the city from well-respected ice cream makers with cool flavors like San Francisco Rocky Road and Purple Yam. I’ve only tried their ice cream but I’m dying to try a coffee float! It’s affordable, unlike the over-priced and, in my opinion, overrated shops in the Mission. Not to mention there’s virtually no wait. They have simple, but delicious flavors so don’t come expecting pumpkin peach spiced latte flavors The only«complaints» I have is that it’s relatively tucked away in the cannery, and I had a little trouble finding the location my first time. Also note that it’s cash only. In summary, a nice mom-and-pop shop with the best ice cream in SF
