My friend told me about an Indian restaurant in the Sunset I had not eaten at yet. So let’s go there for dinner! We ordered Samosas for starters. Unfortunately, they only serve vegetarian samosas at Noori. I was immediately drawn to the Tandoori Salmon. Both of us wanted to try some Pakistani food, so we ordered the Daal Gosht with lamb. We completed our order with Basmati Rice and an Onion Kulcha. The Samosas were disappointing. I was expecting them to be searing hot out of the fryer, but they were just very warm. The Samosas tasted just okay. But the tamarind sauce was very good. The Tandoori Salmon was the highlight of my meal. We received two massive hunks of salmon on a bed of onions, it was much more fish than I had expected. It was cooked nearly perfectly. They left the skin on, and it was the best part of the dish. The salmon was very good but not the best I’ve ever eaten. The Daal Gosht was both good and bad. We liked the lentils and the sauce the lamb was served in. But there was very little lamb in the dish. That seemed a little incongruous, given the immense portion size of the salmon. I liked the Onion Kulcha a lot, it was very tasty. The Basmati rice was excellent. It was not just plain rice, and I really liked how each grain of rice was flavored with at least one of a combination of spices. Service was just okay. We had to ask to have our water glasses to be refilled. A word of warning: this is a cash-only restaurant. They do not accept credit cards!

The flavors and service were very good. However, my chicken tikka masala was almost entirely sauce, with only a few small pieces of chicken, and since it didn’t come with rice, it didn’t feel like a whole lot of bang for my buck. My husband ordered a veggie biryani. I heard the waiter tell the next table over that the biryani was a dish big enough for two people, but we didn’t know that(probably on us for not asking the right questions, so no hard feelings or anything), so there was a lot to get through there; it seemed like we had opposite problems. I don’t know if I’d go back there, but it wasn’t that the food was bad, just that it was unbalanced.

Great service. The host/waitress, and the staff were friendly and accommodating to us, even though we came right before closing. The host assured us it was okay to dine in and offered to stay late with us. Super nice, will be back. :)

It was pretty good, we have ordered the sampler, kofta, and plain naans with rice! All of them were really good and spicy! Except for shrimp tandoori which got the color but not the taste of tandoori, I still appreciate their efforts. The seekh kabab was a little too salty but really juicy, big and overall tasted great. Rice was good with generous portion. Bread naans were top notch. Kofta with gravy was fantastic. Chutney was the best part! I have tried it in many places but i might drive all the way from san jose just to get some chutney from noori.

Bland. As a pakistani who’s travelled to the motha land and tasted the real deal … I was highly disappointed. Go to naan’n curry. oh and they don’t have nihari.

We ate at another restaurant across the street and noted this place, so we came back a few weeks later. We went in around 9pm and the place was fairly empty. Only 1 other table had people sitting down so we got to sit far from the door on the windy night. We were given water and menus right away. The waiter gave us some time as we were waiting for a friend that arrived a few minutes later and then he took our orders not too long after. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Onion Naan and Garlic Naan. The guys ordered Goat dish. I ordered a mango lassi, my fiancé a chai tea and our friend got offered Coke or Sprite and we were laughing because we figured that he was offered the«American /normal» beverages because my fiancé and I had ordered the food while our friend sat quietly. Our food came out fast and it was very flavorful! I prefer the onion naan over the garlic bc it had some butter or oil slathered on it while the garlic naan was dry. I was dipping my naan into the sauces and it was perfect and when I went to get some chicken, I discovered that it was lamb. I’m not a fan of mutton so I called the waiter over to explain that I had ordered chicken tikka masala and not lamb. We had a slight language barrier problem, and he said«you’re confused.» I told him that I’m def. not confused because I don’t eat lamb or goat. Instead of arguing, we told him that we’d keep the lamb(because the guys eat lamb) and ordered a chicken tikka masala. He apologized when I said that I don’t eat lamb and got us the chicken tikka masala. After that problem he was very nice and smiley. He even came back to our table to check on us and we asked him about the various spice levels they have. I don’t remember what the levels were, but the goat was a level 3 and he explained they used a ghost pepper plus green chili’s. I know, I could have gotten offended when he said«you’re confused» but we knew he didn’t speak English very well. Also, the lamb was very tender and the guys liked it and ate it all. It turned out fine. We would def. go back there but when we order, we will be sure to have them double check the order before going to the kitchen. THEYHAVEFREEDELIVERY with a min. of $ 25. We took a togo menu for the house.

Noori has been our go to place for Indian delivery for years. We live in the presidio and think their food quality is better than places closer to us and they also deliver. That being said they lost me as a customer last night because of the curry they delivered. I ordered curry vindaloo with 1 alarm spicy level which is the step above spicy, their most mild level. When I opened the container it looked amazing but when I tried it I could tell they dumped tobasco sauce in it to make it spicy. I HATE tobasco sauce firstly and secondly don’t think it belongs anywhere near curry. I’m never eating food from here again. Where’s the standard? They just decided«F it» they’re American and will eat anything? So disappointed.

I’m from SoCal and came to visit my Bestfriend for her birthday. She recommended we come to Noori for some really good Indian food and it really was SUPERGOOD! The chicken Tikimasala is the best I’ve ever had! The sauce is so delicious! We go plain rice and garlic nan and goat cheese nan to go along with our food! Very delicious Indian food and very nice staff as well! This is my new favorite spot for every time I come into town !

I was surprised at the rating not being 5 stars. Great service and didn’t wait long for food. They are accommodating with vegan options sans tofu. Really delicious and fresh tasting. Absolutely bookmarking this one and recommending it.

First of all, Noori’s is our go-to place in the Sunset for Indian/Pakistani cuisine. We’ve been regularly coming here for at least two years now having first walked off the street to have lunch. We’ve eaten here at least 10 times since, so they’ve certainly earned repeat business. Tonight, we had the following: –two orders of Samosas: they were by themselves had great texture(crunchy on outside, soft and potato-ey on the inside). Had flavor, but was even better when dipped in one of the many sauces and curries given. –Noori fries: these are basically french fries. Great to order when you have some picky kids at the table. At least they won’t starve, right? –Lamb Seekh Kabab: This is my favorite, but you need to be a lamb fan. Not too gamey. Like most of their dishes, there are plenty of herbs and spices used to moderate the flavor. –Seekh Kabab: I think this was my only unfavorable dish. It’s minced beef, but it was so minced, the texture was very soft and mushy. –10 orders of Naan: we probably didn’t need this much for our party of three adults and three kids, but it’s no fun to run out or start rationing something fundamental to a meal like naan. –Tikka Masala Chicken: Yummy. –Bengan Bharta(eggplant): Yummy. –Korma Curry Beef: Yummy. Yummy. In addition, to the above, there are some really flavorful tangy sauces to dip Naan in. A green sauce(my absolute favorite) and a tamarind sauce. Like most restaurants on that stretch of Irving(between 19th and 26th Avenues), the inside atmosphere is only o.k. It’s not first date night material, but is a restaurant you’d go with someone you’ve known a while and you’re there for the food. Or, you can order take out(or pick-up, like me). Noori has the culinary fundamentals down well. It is positioned to be a five-star restaurant by my standards if it could just tighten up the wow factor for all its dishes. If I could add a quarter of a star bonus, I would. Noori’s…4.25 stars!

We’ve been coming to Noori for the last 3 years, once a week. I know. Old habits die hard. If that doesn’t speak volumes, I don’t know what does. These are the kindest, most sweetest people on the planet. They make incredibly good, fairly priced Indian and Pakistani food. We love everything we’ve had(except for the goat — I don’t do goat). Sure — people can tell me all day long that something isn’t ‘authentic’. Fine — I get it. But does it taste good? Goddamn right it does. Cash only unless you order through Unilocal’s Eat24 app. Call in for delivery or pick up if you don’t want to wait around. Our favorites are: –Chicken Tikka Masala –Tikka Jalfrezi –Lamb Seekh kebab –Lamb Saag –Chili Garlic Naan –Goat Cheese Naan Obviously get the rice — the rice is great too: butter and whole cloves — what’s not to love? One last tip that will change your life: Save some of the sauce(s) and use it as pizza sauce the next day. We use the Viccolo Cornmeal Crusts. Top with caramelized onions and smoked mozzarella — total game changer.

I only started going to Noori because the BF claims it’s one of his favorite Indian restaurants and he won’t let us go anywhere else. I must admit that Noori hits the spot every time! It’s our Sunday ritual to get delivery from Noori & it never disappoints! We dined in last night though and I hate to say that their service wasn’t the best here. I had to get up and grab our own water twice after the waiter said he would bring us water. Our food was ready and I saw it just sitting at the counter for a while before he brought it to our table. There was only one server so maybe they were extremely busy or short handed? Nonetheless, we still enjoyed our feed! I think I’ll just stick to delivery though. We’ve tried many of their dishes but our favorite dishes has to be: Veggie Samosas, Noori Fries, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Jalfrazi, & any of their naan! Note: This place is cash only!

The samosas are sorry. The chicken was dry. If you want good authentic Indian food go down the street to 8th and Irving.

I have been ordering food from here for years now and it’s always been a favorite of mine. Delivery service is always really great and never takes too long, everyone who works there is really nice and I’ve never encountered a problem here. Only issue here some people may encounter is that it’s a cash only location :/so be mindful of that before ordering. Writing this review just made me crave some more Noori… Mmmm. My favorite is their Korma & Tikka Masala! And their Garlic Naan is the best in the city. I’ve tried so many places and I always come back to this place I really wish that this place lasts forever

Chicken korma was really delicious, flavorful, and creamy. The dish is wide but really shallow so it gives the illusion that there is alot haha but for the record, theyre not stingy with the meat. LOVE the fact that they are willing to give you the protein. There was peas in this dish and it wasn’t overwhelming, where you taste peas more than the chicken and curry. Really nice balance Kebabs, not so much. Couldn’t tell which was wish… but one of them was really mushy [maybe the beef]. It was a bit too spicy/heavy in flavor, and fell apart easy. eh. If I guessed right, then the lamb one was pretty good. Nice balance and not too overwhelming. Garlic naan was a bit thin and crispy, wish it was a bit chewier and soft in some parts. Couldn’t really taste the garlic despite how it looks. Tikki masala fries is just regular fries with a side of tiki masala curry for the dip. Fries were wonderfully fried, not overly cooked. Perfect crispy hotness and chewy starchiness. Sauce was a great complement to the taste mango lassi was delicious and creamy, not too thick or watery and can really taste the mango and yogurt flavor [not flavorings]. wish it was a bit colder, esp when it was a heat wave night and the drink was luke warm. One of the people in the group got the tikki masala but in lamb, i believe. The lamb was really tender, moist, and flavorful. Staffing is a bit on the slow side and kind of hard to flag them down, but friendly. Def would be back!

The food is good, and the service is quick. I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, Basmati Rice, and Naan. I think the Chicken Tikka Masala is good, but overpriced. Also, be careful when you order different types of naan, they usually stick them together which can mix up the flavors… Definitely great for pick-up, ready within about 10 – 15 minutes.

Used to love it. Only had good things to say. It’s been a while since we ate there, though. It has gone completely downhill. Food is only mediocre now. The portions are ridiculously small for the price you pay and the food is borderline bland. Sadly, this will be the last time I order from them. There are many superior Indian restaurants out there.

The first thing I should point out is that I am proud as $hit that this place carries my last name! My life will never be the same now that I know this restaurant was named after me :) Jokes aside, the curries are delicious, the kebabs juicy, the naans soft & fluffy, the tables are clean, the portions are large, and the service is actually very good. Where can you ever get this at a sit down indian restaurant??? Goat cheese naan(5⁄5) — have you ever seen this on the menu anywhere else? GENIUS! Warm soft bread with a layer of goat cheese in between… heaven on earth. A must try! Lamb tikka masala(5⁄5) — lamb was very tasty in this uniquely tangy tikka masala sauce. Very good. Chicken saag(5⁄5) — Chicken cooked in spinach. Wow, the chicken in this dish was so tender and tasted great with the spinach! Seekh Kebab(4⁄5) — Was good but nothing out of the ordinary that you couldn’t get somewhere else. I liked the fresh onion and tomato that comes with it. This place is not a fast casual type of restaurant. You sit down, order from a waiter, and they bring you everything you need including the check. Service here can’t be beat. Grab some of the squeeze bottle green chutney if you get the kebab. It tastes great with it. Also, ask for the chai tea which is complimentary. Another plus, is you can get a $ 5 off $ 25 or more coupon from valpack.
