We came here just the other night. I’m not going to say that this place is a bad place to eat, but rather that they need improvements upon what they already have. The sushi was okay and the entrees were all run of the mill. The space and ambience was your typical sushi joint, nothing that really«wow’d» or stood out. I think what made it a 3-star place for us was the time we waited. We arrived at the restaurant about 6pm which was fine. But we didn’t leave until 8:20pm, 2hrs20min later, yet all of our food had still not come out. When we asked the waiter(politely) «oh you guys are really busy today?» He replied with«it’s like this all the time» more so now that they serve Eat24 and Online Orders. Sounds to me that they need to hire another chef for the weekends… And finally to top it off, we had ordered two Mochi’s. The first ones consistency was great and as expected, but the second one, a green tea, was hard as a rock. This means that the Mochi had been in the freezer for a bit of time. With all that said, the staff was friendly and definitely served food with a smile. I don’t think the aforementioned problems really are their fault much, but rather room for improvement. Hence why I’m rating this place(for now) a 3 star.

Came for dinner tonight. Absolutely empty place. We were the only customers. Fish was ok. Not super fresh but not bad either. Prices on high end though. Wish it wasn’t that pricey. Ok place. Not sure if we’d come back there. They’re many other sushi joints in Richmond district.

Always a nice, relaxing place in Inner Richmond. I usually come before after the SF lunch rush(12 to 2) and before 4ish. They are usually only 3 to 5 tables beside mine, so it always makes the service more personal. The food is great. The only the roll I didn’t like was the 20 dollar roll. In restrospect, I think it had to do more with the fact that it was 20 dollars and was the last plate to be brought, after I was already full. Maybe my fault. Either way, even though there are a hundred Sushi places in the city, this one is pretty great in a nice neighborhood.

If I could give 2.5 stars, I would. Let’s just say that you get what you pay for. This is one of the cheapest places around… soooo… This place puts me in an odd spot. I’m from the midwest. This place is one gajillion times better than anything I’d ever had outside of the mountain or central time zones. However, compared to contemporaries here in SF(based purely on fish quality), yeah, New Nagano isn’t A#1. Because I have a barbarously unrefined palate, I do order on occasion. Sometimes I’m into the art and perfection, sometimes I’m into the consumption alone. Price: 3.5 stars. For sushi in SF(esp. when they deliver via eat24), you can’t do much better Ambiance: 3 stars. Totally okay. It’s just an average sort of space, especially for sushi restaurants(which usually aspire to «cool» or «classy»). Service: 3.5 stars. I’ve never had any problem at all. They could do better, but couldn’t we all? Food: 2 stars. A heavy weighting. I’ve never been sick or anything, but I’ve had chewy tuna and a colorless Chirashi. The salmon and avocado roll is good. For a party, the trays are a super good deal. Most of the cooked stuff is okay too. I really hope this place works out and keeps on keepin’ on, but I wouldn’t take a date here for(the service and space are fine, but the fish is not impressive).
