They have a great view, but so do a lot of other places in San Francisco. They also have over cooked seafood. When we arrived there was a line waiting to be seated and no one helping. When a seemingly miserable employee finally stepped up, it was with a lackluster response. Eventually, after an unreasonable wait, our food arrived. The crab wasn’t cracked although it was served dripping in sauce making it difficult to stay somewhat classy. Be sure to finish all your chippino since they don’t have take out containers that can hold the broth. The fried seafood platter was also horribly over cooked, in addition to being overpoweringly salty.

Neptune’s is now Chart House ~ needs much upgrading of food & interior. Great oysters ~ avoid calimari at all costs.

Came here for a drink. I liked that they have happy hour even on the weekends(I was here on a Saturday afternoon.) Got a half order of their garlic bread to share and it was carb filled heaven, lol. Good spot upstairs in Fisherman’s Wharf where you can get a view of the ocean and the sea lions lounging below.

What a disappointment. We entered Neptune’s as part of a day of exploring San Francisco. We figured it would be very touristy and pricey due to the location, but were defeated by hunger and decided to go for lunch. The view was nice and the service was ok, but the food was disappointing and was priced too high. My husband ordered the spiced ahi which was ok but definitely not worth $ 34. I ordered the seafood cioppino which was kind of dry, blend, and wasn’t warm enough! I mean, common… if you charge $ 28 on a mediocre dish, at least make sure it’s warm when you serve it.

We come here every year during the holidays and it has never failed to meet our expectations. Not the best days for a view, it was rainy and foggy, but we still were able see some good sites. The food was good, the portions for the kid’s fish and chips were impressive. The place was empty because of the weather, so as expected, the service good.

Been here before. Enjoyed the food. Would recommend for tourists. This is my friends first time to the Bay Area, so I brought him here after the Coit Tower tour. Foods pricey due to tourist attraction. Other than that it’s okay

First time here at Fisherman’s Wharf and I must say we chose the best place to experience great seafood, Neptunes! It’s definitely a must when visiting SF! Billy was our waiter who was exceptionally friendly and very attentive. We were seated by the window which was amazing, view was breathtaking! I can’t wait to come back!

Had lunch in the lounge. Nice window seat to watch the boats out in the bay. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and greet me and by that time I was ready to order the fish and chips, complimented with a bowl of clam chowder. Food came about 15 minutes after ordering. Nothing was worthy of writing home about. No real taste or flavor with the chowder or the fish. Pretty disappointed. Then again I live in Seattle and have access to what I consider the best seafood in the country.

My boyfriend and I were here Sunday during Fleet Week so of course we waited about 25 – 30 min probably. They offer a text alert option to be seated, that was pretty cool. We decided to find seats at the bar and order drinks and an appetizer. We ordered Falernum Mules and they were awesome. I really need to learn how to make mules. I don’t think they’re too difficult. We ordered the Kim Chee Calamari as well. I received the text alert letting us know our table was ready and the bartender told us he would direct the appetizer to the table as we were closing out our tab. Well as we were getting up, the calamari arrived. After a bit of confusion, we were seated and the hostess went back to the bar to retrieve our calamari. That was a bit awkward. The calamari was different than any other restaurant I’ve ate it at. It’s bathed in a sauce and it’s actually quite tasty. We were also given the most amazing warm bread rolls with butter. I love when restaurants serve warm bread rather than cold. And I’m sure it’s made in house. Gosh I’m going to miss that bread! We also ordered the Coconut Crispy Shrimp which is accompanied with three dipping sauces. Good taste. The only dish we disliked was the Lobster Bisque. My BF described it as having a plastic-y taste. I tasted foam and it definitely not what I expected. Slightly disappointed with that. Another reason I wasn’t too pleased with the visit: bathrooms weren’t well maintained.

My experience was terrible. Appetizers completely failed to be served(Oysters Rockefeller and a shrimp cocktail, which should take little time to prepare), and when the oysters were eventually served, the dish was cold, the oysters were undercooked and the bacon far too salty to be palatable; it was just inedible. The ½ lobster was okay but not worth the $ 30 charged for it. There are far better places for lobster(for cheaper, no less) and there are far better places to dine at this price point in the area.

After spreading my grandma’s ashes on the bay using the Neptune Society, my family chose to stay with the Neptune theme for lunch with Neptune’s Waterfront Grill & Bar. My dad had set the reservation a few weeks prior and they assured us they would take care of us. Overall, the experience was not a complete bust, but it was not as good as expected. The bartender was a dud– she was the last person I would ever want as a bartender– lazy, slow, impersonal, and borderline copped an attitude when we asked if she was able to take our order after being present for 10 minutes with no other party in the bar. Only after the manager arrived, knowing who my dad was, did the bartender up her activity level. We soon moved to our table to eat. The view was ok, but I was expecting a better seating arrangement and the wait staff was much better than the bartender personality-wise, but they forgot to serve two members of our party, and would prematurely sweep our dishes away when we were not done eating from them. We had to hustle them once the food was not served in an appropriate timeframe. Overall, the location was extremely convenient and the bill was not as high as I thought, both pros worth recognizing. Also, it was by unanimous decision of everyone in our party who ate it that the lobster bisque was the best we’ve had in a long time.

The service here was absolutely horrendous. The waiter messed up every single one of our orders(there were 6 of us). Overpriced and a total tourist trap. Avoid at all costs.

Based on the 2.5 Unilocal rating, I would normally not visit Neptune’s. But I was attending a reunion and this was the restaurant they selected to have the reunion dinner. Sort of bummed to see the negative reviews, knowing that I was going to be *forced* to eat here. :) First off, very nice view since they are the restaurant at the end of the wharf. If you can snag a table by the window, even better. Here’s what we ordered, and might I say I was pleasantly surprised. NEPTUNE’S SEAFOODPLATTER(5⁄5) — For me, this was the perfect seafood platter — all my favorites(white meaty fish, shrimp and scallops). The batter put it over the top. Hard to describe, not your typical batter. Loved it. I would go back to this restaurant for this dish. Enjoyed every bite of seafood on this platter. CLAMCHOWDER(5⁄5) — Born and raised in Boston so you better believe me when I say this clam chowder is completely legit. I never want to eat any other version of clam chowder but this one. Creamy and white as it should be, with the most tender clam meat. Good ratio and balance of all ingredients. Again, would LOVE this recipe. I should have asked. CRABSTACKSALAD(5⁄5) — This was a tip from a fellow Unilocaler. Glad I took it, because this was a winner. Meaty crab salad topped over a stack of avocado and mango relish. So good. The waiter did a great job, recommended a great red wine to sub for the Chianti that they didn’t have. He split the check a million different ways to accommodate all the reunion peeps. I almost didn’t give this place five stars. I didn’t want to lose credibility by being the only five star review swimming in a sea of 1 and 2 star reviews! But if I’m being true to my experience, I would have to give it five stars, despite the low Unilocal rating. I have no reason to take off any stars. Furthermore, I heard the guy next to me comment on how much he enjoyed the fish(he was referring to the Swordfish). Halfway through my plate, I turned to my wife and asked, «Is it just me, or is the food good here.» She replied, «It’s not you.» Keep in mind though, I’ve only been here once and haven’t tried anything else on the menu beside what you see above. Maybe I got lucky and went on the night when their best chef was in the kitchen. Or maybe I got lucky with my order and ordered all the stuff they do best? I don’t know. Whatever the case, I’m pretty sure I’ll be back for that seafood platter AND the clam chowder AND the Crab Stack. If you try this place, message me. I’m interested to see what you think.

Don’t get sucked in by the view at Neptune’s. The food is disgusting, thrown-together, piss poor quality, not fresh, not appetizing, and expensive. The staff is rude, Our server seemed to have a turd under her nose, and made a total of 2 appearances when the restaurant wasn’t even busy. With so many places to choose from in this beautiful city, throw a rock in any direction, I promise the food will be better wherever that rock lands. I did get our entire meal comped, but since we were tourists, that doesn’t leave much of an opportunity to find redemption elsewhere on a tight timeline. I hope they close and get new owners who are not just trying to capitalize on the amazing views, but also can offer their clients a memorable experience that doesn’t make your sphincter clinch, but gives you that warm fuzzy thing called«gratitude».

The lobster in the Lobster Mac and Cheese must have been held up in Alcatraz because it was no where to be found. The calamari was good and the 2 salads were ok. Just feel ripped off and left a bad taste in mouth. If you’re going to serve this lobster mac and cheese dish, respect the customers especially since your Restaurant name is called Neptune’s.

This place is really nothing special. It’s at the very end of pier 39 and very secluded. My bf and I usually eat at Fog Harbor for our dates when we come here. We wanted to try something different and this one had the shortest wait so we decided to try it. Now we know why the wait was only 5 minutes. The menu is very concise. There aren’t a lot of options and it’s way overpriced. I got the shrimp scampi which was just okay. It was a very small portion and really nothing special. It was pretty bland actually. And it cost a whomping $ 26. I rather go to Olive Garden for better pasta and unlimited soup. My BF got the chicken breast with fingerling potatoes. I was shocked with how little his serving was. It was also overlooked and $ 21. Again definitely not worth the price at all. There were some pros so it wasn’t absolutely terrible. Their bread was reallllly good. Really soft and warm and fresh and delicious. I wish I had more of it. We ordered calamari for appetizer and that was pretty standard but good as well. I also really enjoyed our view of the water. The restaurant looked run down though. Overall, this place isn’t worth it. I prefer Fog Harbor much more with better food and better options and just an overall better looking restaurant and ambiance.

Definitely overpriced with good views, kinda what you expect. Pretty sure they ran through the wrong charge on my card, but didn’t keep the receipt so I can’t prove it. I had the seared tuna sandwich which was actually quite good. I’d recommend it, it was a good amount of tuna which was well cooked and had a good chipotle flavor to it. I would recommend it. Fries came with a fantastic honey mustard sauce. Unfortunately, that’s where the recommendations got. My gf got a bbq flat bread which was completely without flavor. It was minimal in size and had a small amount of melted cheese over the thinnest of crusts. Hardly constituted an appetizer. I also got their only cocktail offering bourbon or whiskey and it just tasted so watered down, no strength whatsoever. Worst was the service. Started out fine, but by halfway through the meal our server disappeared. Looked like the kind of young college kid who just needed some gig for the summer. That’s fine, but you can’t just abandon tables like that. I knew this would be a tourist trap, but c’mon, most tourist traps try a little bit.

Great typical restaurant food with a nice view of the Bay! FOOD: I was here for a banquet and I paid $ 20 which covered a 3-course meal and part of room reservation. For appetizer I got a bowl of clam chowder, which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. For the main course I picked salmon, which came with mashed potato and vegetables on the side. I really liked the vegetables(string beans and carrots). The salmon itself was good too but maybe just a little bit bland for me? For dessert I got cheese cake with raspberry sauce. It was good too but a little too sweet, and again nothing too special. SERVICE: The servers were very nice and brought out food in a very organized fashion. There were 60 – 70 of us and only 4 – 5 of them. So good job! SETTING: The restaurant faces the bay, and from where we were seated, we could see the seals and the bridge. When it got dark we also got a nice view of the city line. Pretty romantic. PRICE: For $ 20, we got a 3-course meal and a nice view of the city. Great deal! But this was for a group reservation so not sure how different it would be otherwise. OVERALLIMPRESSION: Great place for a fancy dinner. The food is okay but the view is amazing.
