A very quiet place with hardly any business. Price and quality is not aligned. The soup base claims to be no msg, so it really has no flavor. The meat was decent, but portions were just very light. Not ideal if you can eat more.

Very happy with the experience although the ghost peppers were really really really spicy. Quality of food was great and the waitress was very attentive. Highly recommend it, my new favorite shabu shabu place. They also make their own sauces wig NO msg!!! Have to commend the waitress for running the place alone, good job!!! will def be back

My Pot is a fairly small restaurant on a very busy street. However, inside, the ambiance is quiet and calm. The waitresses help with this overall atmosphere. They are very polite and responsive. For this reason, I can’t give this place less than 3 stars. However servings are small, and prices are very high for the quality of the food you get. In fact, the quality of the meat is worse than what you would expect at an AYCE hot pot, such as Shabuway, which beats My Pot due to fresher and more expensive ingredients. Add this on top of the long wait time it takes for food to be served. We spent over $ 40 dollars a person and walked out not feeling full.

Early dinner. Fast and polite service. Will come again and recommend to friends and family. We were at the restaurant early so it was quiet. Good for families too. We did dinner for 2 and they didn’t charge extra for our 9 year old. We did order a few extra plates of food to cook. Delicious.

4.5STARS Despite a night of tossing and turning, I had great morning on my drive to work listening to «Second Date Update» on the radio. Guy calls in saying he met his Tinder date at a dive bar, they had a great time, and ended up going to have a nice dinner afterwards. She then ghosted him. So the radio hosts call the women he went on a date with. She says, he was HOT but when he offered to drive them to dinner, he had a human size teddy bear strapped into the passenger’s side of his car. On the way to dinner, he talked to his teddy bear named«Norburt». She was creeped out and didn’t want to go on a second date with him. «He’s my ride or die, teddy bear!», he said. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s kinda cute(weird but cute). At least Tater Tot would have a new hump buddy. Ok, let’s get to the point… I think hot pot/shabu is a great place for a first date. If you’re not feeling your date, you can just stuff your face silly with endless plates of meat. Oh yea — meat orgy! Ok, maybe not the«best» idea on a first date to go let your inner fatty status come out which is why I think My Pot is a great first date place(reservations accepted). They only offer a la carte hot pot but you’re paying for quality here as the meats are top notch(not frozen). They also have exotic proteins like alpaca(similar to llama), kangaroo, snapping turtle, wild boar, etc. Feel like splurging? They have lobster and A5 wagyu too. All their broths are housemade with NO msg(yay!) as are their dipping sauces. Beer, wine, and flavored soju is available to help you take the first date edge off. We started with a small carafe of their Peach Soju($ 11.95): . Our server asked if we wanted it weak OR strong… of course, we asked for the latter which she delivered on. My friend and I ordered their«Dinner for Two» which includes your choice of soup(+$ 2 for half & half), 2 meat platters, 3 choices of meat/seafood balls and/or veggies like taro, enoki, tofu(non-leafy greens), 2 choices of leafy greens, and rice or udon for $ 45.95. We choose the split pot for half & half broths: Ginseng Chicken Broth and Ghost Pepper Numbing Broth, Beef, Lamb, Fish Balls w/roe filling, Taro, Enoki, A choy, and Tong Ho: . The Ginseng Chicken Broth was very light(not salty), homey, and comforting, and I used this broth the most because that Ghost Pepper Broth was no phuckin’ joke! Our server asked how hot we wanted, and we said, medium was fine. Upon first taste, it made my eyes water and my mouth was on FIIIIYAAAAAHHHH like a UTI. But, the numbing sensation was pretty addicting. No cotton ball mouth afterwards so there’s truly no msg. The beef(snowflake beef?) was like a poor man’s a5 wagyu — intense marbling and melts like butter: . Ridiculously good. Not sure if they buy it from Gold Coin Trading in Chinatown because that’s the only place that I know that sells it: . The lamb was also very good with a good amount of marbling as well: . The fish balls w/roe filling squirt so be careful not squirt it your date’s eye: least wait until after dinner, please. The veggies: taro, enoki, a choy, and tong ho were all very fresh. The only thing I didn’t like was the udon which was hard and straight from a package(myojo?). Everything else is such great quality so I think they need to consider buying a better brand of commercially made udon. I really appreciate that they make their own msg-free sauces: garlic, spicy soy, sesame, satay: but they only give you one tiny saucer of each per a table so we had to ask for more. The spicy soy was really good mixed with the sesame sauce. The sesame sauce is too thick though so they need to dilute it more. After hot potting it, I always need to end it with something sweet to cleanse the palate so we wanted to order their advertised Chocolate Fondue($ 12.95) with strawberries and bananas only(no cookies, marshmallows) but we were told they didn’t have chocolate that night(???). I hope they consider adding ice cream or something light and refreshing to the menu to clean your palate. Service was really cordial and attentive. Our water glasses never once was empty. I like that they give you crisp, filtered water not tap water. Ambiance was really quiet. We were one of 3 tables so there was some awkward silence at times. Some background music would be nice. There’s 8 four-tops and 4 two-tops. Free parking in the private lot next to Chouchou. 4.5 stars rounded up because My Pot is one of two places in the SF Bay Area(the other is Nabe) that doesn’t use msg and their beef rocks. I usually have a bad msg reaction and am up all night when going to other hot pot/shabu places. Can’t wait to go back for their balls… chicken testicles that is. Oh yea!

We thought we’d try this neighborhood restaurant on Mother’s Day We arrived at 6:45, the time of our reservation, and were seated promptly. Within 10 minutes we ordered water and the hot pot dinner with a couple extra items. An hour later nothing had arrived not even water. When we inquired about the water it took them 10 more minutes to come. We asked about our food and the waitress said it was coming soon. She then came back and asked us which soup we ordered and the food was coming in one minute. We expected that she come out with our order, but she served 3 tables first and it didn’t look like our food was coming any time soon so we left. TLDR; sat for 90 minutes. Not even water after an hour. Left to eat elsewhere.

5 stars because everything looked good on their menu, I actually had a hard time deciding what to order. I wasn’t too hungry for an alligator, so I decided on «Ghost pepper soup base» Also the ladies that run this place seem really want to make their customers… happy!

As someone who sensitive to salty food, I enjoyed that the beef broth we got was light and not too salty. However, did not enjoy how the waitress tried to pressure us to order more. The 3 of us wanted to start off splitting the 2 person meal, and then order more as we went along after trying what we ordered. The waitress was really pushy about ordering more, including some fancy meat special. I put my foot down as I’m really not into wasting food or stuffing myself, and it just created a really awkward atmosphere for us from the beginning. Also the sauces are good, but too thick to scoop efficiently. Would be much better watered down a bit, and one set of sauces for each person rather than having to constantly pass around. The wooden spoons they give you are pretty useless for soup. A little spider strainer would have been nice too… Esp for the price we paid. All in all I think the neighborhood patrons have been generous with the reviews, but rethinking utensils and wait staff tactics are needed before they can complete with the other big hot pot players in the city!

For the service, quality of food, cleanliness and ambiance, this place deserves 5 stars! No doubt! Most of the hot pot places in the city is AYCE. In those places, the quality of food and service don’t always go together. Everything is FRESH. Their broth is definitely made to order. We got the traditional spicy broth and kimchi broth. The traditional spicy broth is not like the typical spicy broth that’s full of dried chili and spices. It’s very lightly spiced but very very flavorful. The kimchi broth is nothing I’ve ever had before. It’s lightly spicy but it doesn’t take away the flavor for your food. They also have alligator, kangaroo, and turtle meat for your tasting pleasure. Parking can be a it tricky and there’s literally no foot traffic here. Don’t let the location stops you from coming here.

Ghost pepper soup base? Who dare to take this volcanic challenge? I ordered the split soup bases(herbal chicken soup and ghost pepper extra spicy soup base) The meat is very fresh and goes well with both soup bases. The fresh ingredients with natural flavored soup bases; it is such a great combination.

The beef and pork belly were amazing! The other meats are quite good as well. Solid broth and really good dipping sauces(the garlic being the standout). They have a specialty menu with all sorts of exotic meats. We got the duck, though I think getting another large platter of normal meat would be a better decision. A quality addition to the SF hot pot scene!

High quality meat as many have mentioned. I also felt that other items such as vegetables and tofu were fresh and high quality as well. The whole dining experience was far above the usual hot pot joints. Parking is a bit tricky here. There’s a walkway that connects to the residential neighborhood behind. I suggest parking there and walk to the restaurant. I find it strange that this restaurant was empty on a Saturday night. It should be much busier given its commitment to quality and service. I hope more people can support this new establishment so it can stay in business. It’d be a pity if we lose another great restaurant.

Great herbal soup with no MSG. High quality meat. If anyone said this is rip off, it is only because they have never been to a hot pot with real ingredients. These kind of soup took a long time and expensive ingredients.

We had the hot pot for two. The food was great quality, definitely filling for two, and service was great. We ordered the beef, pork, cuttlefish balls, tofu and several veggies all included in the set menu which made it easy. We got the herbal chicken broth to cook everything in. It was very flavorful broth, which I was happy with. Other hot pot places I’ve been to didn’t seem to pay much attention to the cooking liquid as much. I am always happy to support local businesses in the neighborhood, but doubly happy that 1) it’s a hot pot place that we were previously lacking in the neighborhood and 2) that it’s actually good. The ladies that run this place seem very engaged and really want to make their customers happy.

If you’re looking for tasty premium and high quality meats, My Pot is the place to go! I ordered 2 plates of beef, lamb, and chicken and it is probably the best quality in the city. All the meats came out nicely marbled and I can definitely taste the difference in the herbal chicken soup(must try!) since they do not put MSG in it. Although I agree the place is a bit pricier than most, you are paying for the quality, not quantity.

This place is not even worth one star. *****RIPOFF, nickel and dime on everything ***** the combo dish(6PAPERTHINSLICEOFBEEF, 10QUARTERSIZEBEEFTONGUE, 4 fish balls and handful of veggies) $ 21.95 doesn’t include the broth(wtf), that’s extra $ 5, $ 8 if you want try 2 soups and do half and half. Rice +$ 1.5, this is all pp! That’s already $ 28.45 per person. All you can eat is cheaper at most places. You have to request for sauce. There is nothing at the table. Was almost afraid to ask for sauce and get charged for it. For dinner entrée, we ordered the garlic butter shrimp. $ 14.95(10 shrimps or so) that’s all you get, just shrimp, no sides or trimmings with it. Rice is extra with dinner entrée as well.
The prices are ridiculous for the portion of food you get. U better off going elsewhere. You are warned.

In terms of meat quality, this place has it going on! All the meats we got tasted great and the services was friendly. However, the broth was MEH. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the broth, which I feel like is a BIG part of the hot pot experience, especially for Chinese hotpot. I wish they had a few more dishes like pork blood, pork kidney, dumplings and what not. Oddly no list of sauces and they cost extra too! Sigh. Overall, I’d come back here but it wouldn’t be my first choice. The best thing I’d say so far is that there is no wait whatsoever.

This place definitely got the best meat quality and choices of meat in town! Love the beef, it looks and tastes like Kobe beef! It even made me wanted to ask them if i could actually buy a steak from them lol They also have other meat like beef tongue, lamb, pork, even duck breast and venison. We tried all of them and they’re all delicious! Gotta come back to try the alpaca meat next time! We also got the half and half soup base with tomato and Chinese herb chicken with rice wine soup base. We almost drank the whole soup before the meat came because they’re so good! They’re actually real soup not like the ones you can buy in markets, especially the chicken soup! Definitely worth the price and love to come again! Would choose this place with high quality meat than going to other all you can eat places with low quality food. Also take large groups, me and 7 of my friends went together and it’s still very spacious. They have a parking lot next next door too. Excellent food with excellent service! 5 stars for sure!

Winter is coming, tis the best season for some hotpot! My pot is a new hole in the wall Chinese hotpot place in town. First impression, spacious, friendly staff, clean, and efficient! The food were very fresh! They aligned the meat neatly on each plate, easily to pick up and visually appealing! Many selection to choose from, we ordered slice beef, chicken kidney, some enoki mushrooms, and many plates that I can remember. One important thing for a hotpot place is the soup base. This place provides a very rich broth, love the chicken ginseng and the tomato soup! Don’t take my word for it! You definitely have to try it out yourself to know! 5 stars for great food, service, and environment!
