SF now has another FREE outdoors movie night event, similar to: Film Night in the Park, Dolores Park Movie Night(discontinued in 2011), Duboce Park Movie Night, Jack London Square’s «Waterfront Flicks», and Redwood City’s «Movies on the Square». This event was first organized by District 4 Supervisor Carmen Chu, the SF Rec & Parks Department, and the Ocean Avenue and Parkside merchants associations(POPS). «Movies in McCoppin Square» debuted in June 2012, as a test program. Now it’s scheduled weekly, every Friday at 8 pm, during summer. Future events will require SF Rec & Park approval. This week’s family-friendly film is DreamWorks’ animation«How to Train Your Dragon»(good movie!!), next week’s scheduled film will be «The Goonies» on September 28. I hope this seasonal summer event continues next year. Bring a blanket to sit on the lawn(if u bring snacks, please clean up after yourself), and remember to get there early to find a good spot. ** Update 1 — new District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang, SF Rec & Parks, and POPS renewed the MMS movie night event — schedule for 2013: Oct. 4 — Brave Oct. 11 — Hocus Pocus Oct. 18 — Oz Oct. 25 — The Birds ** Update 2 — schedule for 2014: Oct. 3 — Frozen Oct. 10 — ET The Extraterrestrial Oct. 17 — Despicable Me Oct. 24 — Ghostbusters Oct. 31 — Coraline
