This is a pretty solid salad bar. Lots of choices and all the veggies were fresh and super crunchy. I went with making my own salad and really enjoyed it. The pricing is typical for this area but the lighter it is, the less expensive. I stuck with things that were lighter like spinach and shredded carrots, but the total STILL came out to $ 9.16. The salad is also pretty small. Like i still found myself hungry after i finished it, Compared to Boudin where i can get a HUGE salad for basically the same price. They can also make your choices into a wrap. Really enjoyed this spot and definitely look forward to coming here more often.

Not to be confused with that uppity Mixt Greens! Mixed Greens is a cheaper food option for the Union Square area. Just don’t get too crazy with toppings or else your«cheap» salad can end up being $ 10 or over. It’s a salad bar however it’s all behind glass and you tell them what you want vs yourself filling up your box. It’s 4.50 every ½lb so be careful not to pick too many toppings or heavy toppings. I chose mixed greens, tomatoes, chicken, bell peppers, a few mozzarella balls and strawberry champagne vinagrette. With tax it came out to just under $ 8. Not bad for this area of SF too I must say. The size of the chicken pieces they give you is more substantial than that of nearby Boudin’s whenever I order their salad. They also offer different types of chicken meat — regular pulled, pesto and Thai. And even portobello mushroom slices. Wait time also doesn’t seem as long as other eateries in the Macy’s basement food court. I’ve found my new salad place!

Today was the first day that I tried this place. It was ABSOLUTELYAMAZING!!! It’s located on the LL floor of Macys and the line isn’t too bad. I came here and waited about 10 minutes. During the holiday season the elevators take awhile so I suggest using the elevator to get here. It’s great! This is like a salad bar where you pick and choose what you want and someone will help you put it in a bowl and mix it at the end. It’s absolutely delicious! It is somewhat pricey. It is $ 4.50 per ½ pound. The entire salad ended up to be a bit over 11 dollars for me. There’s three selections of greens– mixed greens, romano, and spinach. I got the mixed greens and romano. Then you can add cheese, theres about 4 or 5 different cheeses. I got the parmesan. Make sure to tell the guy a little bit of whatever you want and then you can always add more. You can also add avocado which is AMAZING!!! The avocado is ripe and great! I added shrimp– he put LOTS, and also thai chicken which has a sweeter taste. In addition I added corn, mushroom, egg, carrot. At the end you get a discount if you pay in cash and also it’s by weight. I got about 1.48 lbs or so and it was PLENTY to eat!

I don’t really give three-star ratings, because I feel like it’s too on-the-fence, but I didn’t want to give Mixed Greens a two-star rating, because the ingredients were in fact fresh and delicious, but not a four-star rating because I don’t really think I’d be back, and can’t say I’m a fan. I appreciate the healthy option available to me in the Union Square area(you can find Mixed Greens among other restaurants and dessert shops on the basement level of Macy’s on Ellis x Powell), however, for a salad that left me starving, it took me back about $ 10. For this price, I’d rather buy the ingredients and make a salad to last me a few meals. So, hence the three-star rating — definitely was A-OK, but can’t say that I’ll need a frequent customer stamp card.

First: don’t confuse this place with Mixt Greens which is another salad joint that is actually delicious. Second: this place is just about impossible to find and the journey is definitely not worth it so go elsewhere. Third: the salad was really not good. It was bland despite the same mix of ingredients I’ve had at tons of places. The ingredients do not taste fresh. It is certainly not cheap. Also, the carton that held the salad fell apart on my 5 min walk back to hotel. What more to say? Fourth: I don’t know why you’re still reading this review. Move on to the next restaurant. Fifth: The one redeeming fact is that there is a Ben & Jerry’s near it when you do finally find the place.

Worst customer service I’ve ever received. Employee was extremely rude. Guy was rushing me and I was the only one in line?

woah! First time being here and I was impressed. Salad are charged by weight. $ 9 per pound. I can imagine people can go overboard with the toppings. they have a wide selection of ingredients for salad and you can sample them before adding to your plate. I got the Caesar dressing and it was good. I’m very picky when it comes to Caesar dressing because it must have anchovies in it or it is not right. my salad was very delicious and with the right amount of dressing. I have to hand it to the salad maker. the very nice gentleman’s name was Ben. he was very patient with my order because I can take a long time on deciding what I want, and he offer samples before I picked them. in the end, it’s all about the fresh ingredient, good tasty dressing, and the right ratio of dressing to salad. this guy got it spot on! I’ll be back for sure!

Decent place for a build-your-own salad. Be aware that it comes to $ 9 per pound, which can get hefty depending on your toppings. The staff were really nice. I feel like I got a fairly healthy meal, and it wasn’t astronomically expensive like it could have been, given the area.

I loved the concept of the place. The lady that took my order(monday 26th by 3 pm) was very patient in explaining everything to me as it was my first time and even suggested a little mix with the dressings. Everything was delicious and very affordable. The only thing I will do different next time is ask for very little dressing, because to me there was a little too much dressing. So, if you like your salad very light(like me), I suggest asking for little dressing. Nonetheless it was delicious and I totally recommend it. At 3 pm there was no line.

I’ll second the accolades for Cheenee who is honestly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met in a food establishment. She was so kind this afternoon to offer me a cup of water when I went off on a coughing spell while there today. There is another long term male employee that is also very friendly, and I was just as happy to see him today. I never thought that the basement of Macy’s would be somewhere that I frequent for lunch mainly because walking into Macy’s gives me anxiety, but this is a great fully stocked salad bar. Borderline OCD, salad bars also tend to sceeve me out, but they have a health code score of 98. They always wear gloves and the barrier is high enough that I can’t spread my germs or taint the food. The quality of the produce is very good. I personally vouch for the Strawberry Champagne Chicken Salad and occasionally will create my own concoction when I’m in creative mode. Lastly, great value in Union Square so you can save your money for more important things. Like clothes, shoes, and make-up!

The go-to spot for a delicious $ 12 salad. The line is out the f***ing door almost every day during lunch time. But I keep coming back — that’s gotta mean something.

Love the Hatch salad! A little pricey though. Rooster sandwich is also great. It’s a little expensive for extra chicken when you go there.

While i was running some work errands this past week. i dropped into Macy’s to grab some lunch normally I head to Boudins but the line there was too long so I headed over to Mixed Greens. I ordered the strawberry champagne salad. It was good not great but a change up from Boudins. I actually ended up coming back here again for lunch again last week and ordered the chinese chicken salad. This salad was much better. Overall this places is pretty good. I will be back.

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with a new dietary plan to get cut for the spring called Carb Back Loading( ), which in simplest terms, limits the amount of carbs one should consume during the day, but at night, feel free to have at it… all within reason, of course. This is basically a modified version of the intermittent fasting method I’ve been doing for the past few years, but so far, I like this so much better. Because of this, I have to now start looking for lunch spots(compared to intermittent fasting, which doesn’t involve eating lunch at all), but finding something that doesn’t include a carbicide laden starchy mess is a seemingly tall order these days. Fortunately, on a quick jaunt to Macy’s to do some holiday window shopping, I may have found my solution. As the name suggests, Mixed Greens is a smallish salad stand tucked away downstairs in the Macy’s food court near the men’s restrooms. It can be easy to miss, but this can be a blessing for customers, as it is also not very busy. At $ 9 per pound, Mixed Greens is a tad bit on the expensive side, but as mentioned earlier, since healthy, affordable options are limited in this part of town, it is fairly reasonable. You are allowed to pick and choose your ingredients to create your own salad, and preset menu selections are also available if you don’t really know what combinations work best. Depending on who is working, the portions sizes may vary, but from my experience, the average hovers around the $ 7~8 range, which is plenty enough for me. Vegetables, meats and toppings are relatively fresh, and the shop looks well maintained. Service is not overly friendly, but they get the job done, so no complaints. Mixed greens is the perfect option for those who work downtown and are on a strict diet, as well as anyone who wants to be healthy in general. Instead of indulging in all the other unsavory options in the food court(those Boudin breadbowls are quite horrifying), come on down to Mixed Greens two or even three times a week, and it will only be a matter of time before you say hello to that shiny new six pack.

This is much better than Mixt Greens. I extremely dislike the idea of per-item charge for make-your-own salads, because I like to have different things in my salad but only a small amount of each. Mixed Greens allows you make your own salad and you get charged by the weight! They have a huge HUGE selection of different items and you can customize your salad to the max. They also have a huge selection for dressings with some really good and unusual flavors. What more can you ask for? In terms of service, every time I go, I always receive really good service so that definitely makes it a favorite.

I was quite excited to find a Mixed Greens close to my new job, but this is no ordinary Mixed Greens. The salads were not the usual choices that you get in Fidi, the service was horrible and slow, the guy kept looking back at the menu to see what was supposed to be in the salad and the ingredients were not looking fresh, gourmet and organic, no tuna in site, chicken was not fresh breast meat, no avocado and man other choices missing. This was mall food and not even good mall food. Since it’s a chain, they need to get it up to par with the others, ruining your brand!!!

The biggest salad in the world! Arrrhhh, it was amazing! Buckets and bucket and buckets of green goodness! Mix and match to make your own or select one of the already assembled assortment from the menu. Anything you could possibly want in a salad was there and some! I was craving exactly what was delivered a massive box of mixed leaves, olives, bacon bits, edamame peas, half an avocado all tossed in a jalapeño dressing. It’s incredible how much pleasure can be found in a basin of botanicals!

Located in the basement of Macy’s this is a salad place where you can pick up pre-made salads, order specific salads off the menu, or make your own from a very wide range of ingredients(cheeses, meats, veggies, dressings, fresh herbs). On top of that, there’s freshly made lemonade as well as Honest Tea in the fridge. I tried the Grilled Portobello Salad and enjoyed it incredibly. Not my favourite in salads overall, but it was different from other salads I’ve had in the past from other lunch places. I’m really looking forward to trying some of the other salads on the menu, as well as finding a good combination of veggies, cheese and dressing and make my own. Price is also quite reasonable for the size of the salad you get. A great lunch place to pick up a healthy meal.

YES, it’s a lil pricey, but why complain if it’s fresh and healthy. I don’t usually order from their signature salads, wrap, and soups menu. I always customize my salad and the people behind the salad bar are always consistent, nice and not to forget patient because I tend to get indecisive when it comes to the dressing. I highly recommend this place, it will leave your belly and wallet satisfied!

I’m quickly becoming a regular here! After returning to an all veggie no fish diet, I was delightfully introduced to this salad lover’s dream. They have signature salads which can also be turned into wraps $ 7.95 and $ 6.95, respectively. They have a make your own salad option for $ 4.50 per ½ lb. with a wide array of fresh and roasted veggies from mixed greens to portabello mushrooms. I had a flavorful helping of the roasted cauliflower today. Yum! I stay away from the cheese, dressings, and crunchy toppings but they have that as well. To top it off, the service is always pleasant. They also have a frequent buyer card — after 8 purchases you get one free.
