Tried their Stout Braised Beef and Short Rib Sandwich for $ 8 at the Eat Real Festival. Wow, it was a lot better than we expected! The meat was extremely tender and moist, dripping with savory juices. We wanted to lick the plate. The marinade hit the perfect combo of sweet and salty. No funkiness that can sometimes happen when braising with alcohol. Even the bun, soft with a little bit of chewiness, played well with the flavors. These folks sure can cook! I hope they expand to the East Bay soon.

Omg best fried chicken ever. The skin was crunchy – nom nom. Definitely would go back if they were close by. Wish they were in the Financial District – they would do really well with the lunch crowd.

First but not least, the pictures do not do Minnie Bell justice. Sweet baby jesus, it’s sooooooooooo good! They were posted at Off the Grid 5M usually on Fridays. Tri-tip: with gravy and mushrooms on top of your choice of grits or rice with buttered cornbread and a side salad. If mouth orgasm exist, this would be one of those instances. The tri tip was extremely tender; fall off the bone. The cornbread was moist and sweet.
Quick, fresh, and decent portions. Since they are fairly new, there has not been any long lines.

Anyone who is looking for authentic soul food in San Francisco visit Minnie Bell’s food truck that is at 5th and Minna Streets in the city every other Friday I believe. Check the website for menu and check SF’s Off The Grid for exact locations on where the truck will be next. Today was my first visit. I had the black eyed pea salad. It was wonderful. It tasted like something my mommy made. I wanted to take a nap afterward. I will definately return again. The most popular item is her fried chicken which always sells out. The corn bread is popular too. There is also gumbo and a brisket sandwhich that I cannot wait to try the next time I go. Folks yall need to come through so your tummies can experience ultimate happiness. I hope this truck gets to visit Civic Center Plaza or the UN Plaza soon so people in that area can also experience this fabulous food! This food is the essence of soul food!

Decent gumbo, not that I’ve had much but it tasted alright. I thought it should be more like stew, though; it was very light for gumbo. Also, the sausages tasted like hot dogs. The chicken wings, though? Whole ‘nother story. Loved the skin, perfectly cooked, seasoned just right. Probably the best wings I’ve had and not just for the price(5 for $ 5). Had the bourbon bread pudding, too. Excellent dish, fluffy consistency and not too sweet. Could barely taste the bourbon, though. That was kind of disappointing. This is a really great truck and I hope they keep making those wings.

They don’t have a huge food selection but I bought their corn bread and it was super buttery and yummy!

Their first day was yesterday in Hayes’ Valley’s Proxy pop up area. We got the fried chicken + mac and cheese + cornbread and BBQ sauce. Solidly good fried chicken, and enjoyed the sides(corn bread especially). Will look for them next time we’re around Hayes Valley!
