Came here based on recommendation from a friend and ordered the tempura udon. Broth was too salty but the tempura was good. I wouldn’t order it again. The shop is pretty small and it wasn’t too crowded. I came on a Tuesday night with a friend and we were able to get seated immediately. I might come back to try the ramen since I think that’s what they are more known for. Prices are pretty good, then again most food in this area is below average $. Service was also okay. Overall a meh experience, but I wouldn’t be opposed to trying again since it wasn’t terrible.

Healthy and sustainable portions of ramen are served up in this tucked away Outer Richmond spot. The pork tonkotsu with garlic miso helped me conquer an aggressive initial stage of potential fever like symptoms. The ample roasted garlic cloves and manageable spice factor were the key players in the battle for my health. Thanks Miki!

The options and add ons are cool, but I wish the broth had a bit more flavor.

Great food, fresh sushi, awesome ramen. Visually beautiful dishes; you can tell a lot of care is given to every dish. Beautiful, comfortable décor and super easygoing servers. I am a SF native foodie and this is my favorite sushi/ramen place by far; I come here every week. Recommend the miso ramen(chicken broth) with pork belly and bamboo, and of course the chef recommended hamachi toro nigiri.

Wow. if I had seen the food safety alert that it was in the bottom 5% in San francisco, i would not have went there for dinner tonight! They are so stingy. 4 pieces of sushi in a roll and only one piece of pork in the ramen. The fish in the sushi tasted so bland and the California roll was the worst I had in a long time. I had a nasty taste left in my mouth by the end of the night!

Absolute garbage. I ordered the tonkatsu broth, with the extra garlic shoyu option. I also got an extra egg and green onions. The Ramen had the flattest, palest, most one-dimensional broth I’ve ever had. It literally almost tasted like water– totally devoid of any depth. My heart actually sank with the first taste of broth. They put one miniscule piece of charsiu pork in the bowl– so small I was incredulous. I’ll include a picture. Overall the meal was indescribably disappointing and you couldn’t pay me to go back.

First time trying this place out! My wife heard it was delicious and since it next to «purplekow» we thought it was a perfect time to check it out. The store front looks nice with the red banner and the inside looks warm and intimate with wood themed everywhere. Most importantly, it was clean! Restrooms and all. We shared a chicken karage and mixed tempura. Both were good and on point. Nothing negative about it. Solid. My wife ordered the chicken broth, garlic-miso, with added corn and I had the pork broth, spicy-miso, side garlic and corn and all I have to say it was delicious! My wife is not a «broth-noodle-fiend» like myself, but she enjoyed it and she is definitely a picky eater. As for my bowl, the broth was thick, full of flavor, and just had enough heat to complete it. I will also mention it did not taste too salty as the other ramen joints I tried. The noodles were al-dente which«ramen lovers» can understand why I was happy about that. The bamboo, soft boiled egg, and green onions were great making this a great bowl of ramen. Grace(our waiter) suggested we try a side of pork belly to accompany our ramen and man… it was divine! Melt in your mouth goodness! If you get ramen, PLEASE order pork belly with it. You’ll thank me All in all, we throughly enjoyed the experience, food, and service here and would definitely come again! Talking about service, they were nice and courteous! Always checked on us and made sure we were taken care of which made the experience more great. Solid.

As we searched for a new ramen joint on a chilly night, this once crossed my Unilocal path. Looked promising with 4-stars and greater than 300 reviews. It seemed pretty easy to get to, and there is ample parking in the area. Plus, if it sucked, we could always go across the street for some Purple Kow that could make up for it! This is a small place with a few tables. That to me is always a good thing, especially for authentic comfort foods, such as ramen. We got there relatively early in the evening, so seating was ample… The ramen did not disappoint. We got the Tonkotsu Garlic Miso Ramen and the Tonkotsu Spicy Miso ramen(regular). We also got Chicken Karage and a rainbow roll. Tonkotsu ramen(garlic miso) — Great depth of flavor. The broth is deep, not watery, and fulfilling. The garlic permeates throughout the rich broth, and every once in awhile, you get a surprise of roasted garlic clove. Noodles are more al-dente then most ramen joints, so that’s much appreciated. Don’t get soggy seating in the broth. I added some pork-belly to the mix, and that was such a smart move. Appropriate mix of fat/meat. Delectable. Spicy Miso — Similar to above(but no garlic). Spicy-level on point. Seemed a little bit thinner than the garlic version. I enjoyed the garlic one much more. But as we were leaving, the server brought out a spicy garlic miso!!! Next time, Imma try that. Chicken Karage — Five pieces. Non-fatty. Not greasy. Expertly battered and fried. Loved it. Rainbow roll — My advice is to skip it. And also likely skip all the sushi option. I should have known given you can’t see a sushi bar, or the chef. Mediocre at best. I’ll come here again for sure. But for the ramen. No fishy, for me.

My little hidden gem in Outer Richmond. Recently, they did a huge change on their interiors: New wall, new table sets, new lightings, and anything inside the restaurant. Looks super neat now. The ramen is pretty good here. Probably best one in Outer Richmond neighborhood. Sometimes, you have to wait in line if the store is busy. Food in general and appetizers are great!

Nice option for this stretch of Balboa! I’ve only eaten here for lunch and each time it’s been delicious. The ginger pork rice is a must-try if you’re not in a ramen mood. Otherwise, the tonkatsu ramen is a winner — get the spicy garlic tonkatsu ramen if you want to warm up or are fighting off a cold. This is a local restaurant with a small staff. Dishes can take a while to come out, but they’re well worth the wait!

Now I’m sitting in the restaurant, I order spicy miso ramen, extra spicy with extra chashu pork and pork belly. The ramen was just okay, with a bit green chashu and cold half boiled egg, I eat almost half and then I found the bug in my bowl. The glass of water have some white dust inside also. The service is so-so but I worry about the cleanness and the quality of there food.

Miki has the no-frills, local-business charm that is all but washed away – along with quality broth – in many of the newer, ultra sleek ramen places. Because it’s a small place and they don’t have the capacity to operate with the in-n-out efficiency of larger Japantown ramen restaurants, your food may take awhile(there is even a notice at each time politely apologizing for the wait time). After enjoying Miki’s freshly cooked, steamy bowls of ramen, I now detest too-fast-to-be-true lukewarm broths even more. Ramen is $ 9.50 for regular pork or chicken broth base, shoyu/shio/miso($ 9.75 for garlic or spicy miso), and basic toppings of ½ egg, 1 piece of chashu, green onions, and menma. Almost too basic with only one piece of chashu and no kikurage, but it’s same complimentary toppings as Izakaya Sokai in the Inner Sunset. Also, default noodle portions are decent enough to keep you from going hungry. Noodles are the curly yellow ones used at many ramen places, standard and warranting neither tirade nor eulogy about noodle QQ/al dente-ness. The broth definitely stands out the most – nice and balanced, strong tonkotsu flavors, not too creamy or salty, and it seemed to have a stronger sesame taste than most places. The boo got the GARLICMISO which was deliicously garlicky; I got the SPICYMISO and because it was an extra $ 0.25, I opted for the extra spicy level. While most spicy miso I’ve tried is mild at best, Miki’s had quite a kick and, at long last, satisfied my hunt for actually-spicy miso. The catch is that the broth was hotter than expected and I dismissed it as spiciness, ending up with minor mouth burns… first world problems: X Other notes: — They also had an interesting vegetarian kelp broth, but it costs more at ~$ 11.50, plus I was in a carnivorous mood. — After we ordered, I heard another table saying the pork belly(extra $ 3) is a must-get. Because of the small chashu serving, I would recommend saving your Purple Kow change for the pork belly addition, especially if you are in a carnivorous mood. — TL;DR: good quality broth but could use more toppings and is pricey-ish. Don’t come when you’re in a carnivorous mood.

This place is quite small, so if you are coming with a big party, make sure to call in advance to check if you’ll be able to find a table available. This is a Japanese restaurant with ramen as its main selling point, so that’s what I ordered. You have 3 options of ramen: Pork(Tonkotsu), Chicken, or Vegetarian. You then have to choose the sauce/broth, and you can add extra ingredients(corn, butter, vegetables, pork belly…). It already comes with meat(pork or chicken) or veggies, half of a boiled egg, bamboo sprouts, and seaweed. I had the Tonkotsu with garlic shoyu sauce and added assorted vegetables. It was quite yummy, although I wasn’t in awe with the dish. I am definitely happy to have a ramen place close by. But it’s not the sort of place I would tell you to go to have the best ramen of your life.

Definitely a hole-in-the-wall sort of place. But it’s a comfortable place. Chicken karaage appetizer = okay. It was missing something… perhaps ginger? Tonkatsu ramen garlic miso, added spinach, but they did not have spinach, which they informed me when the ramen came out. Noodles were good and perfect consistency(not soggy). Boiled egg was epic. Broth was boring. I was truly disappointed by the broth. Spicy himachi avocado roll = 3 pieces, which was fresh and delicious. Definitely had a good kick to it. Service = one server, as warned. Asked for refill on the water, which was expected, given the one server. Seating = mostly 2 and 4-tops. Small joint. Prices = moderate.

Small, hole in the wall, mom and pop Japanese restaurant. They serve ramen, small plates, bento boxes, sushi, etc. We got the tonkotsu garlic miso ramen and it was really good. The soft boiled egg is really nice. The broth isn’t too salty. The pork belly is very tasty. The noodles were cooked to perfection. Price is decent, service is good, and easy parking.

Pleasantly surprised with this ramen place. I’ve had this restaurant bookmarked for a while and was excited when I finally got to try the place. Its a really small mom and pop looking shop but its cute. There are signs posted everywhere saying to expect a longer wait time for food because of the small kitchen. I appreciate a business thats upfront about the wait time of their food. I think my friend and I waited less than 10 minutes to get our ramen which was nice. It wasnt very busy when we came though. I ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and added corn. It was a little more spicy than I wanted but it was pretty good. My friend ordered the chicken base soup with garlic miso. It was sooooo good. I have to come back just to order that broth. Overall the food was great! It’s a little pricy, my friend and i ordered ramen and our bill was 32 bucks? Definitely didn’t help that he added a bunch of sides … LOL next time we’ll skip on the extras.

I love yukke. All of them are delicious! They come with quail egg, chives, and cut up fish. Hotate and salmon are my go to flavors. I also love their yellow and white roll with panko(+$ 0.50). It’s quite worth it. If you don’t get full off of the sushi get ramen, too. This place is small and a mom and pop type shop. You have to be patient and try to come early to get a seat. Around 5pm is a good time. They don’t serve yukke for lunch, only dinner. I used to be a regular here, but the prices have gone up since I’ve first started coming a few years ago. I still love it, but I miss the old prices. Oh well. San Francisco is becoming expensive in general…

The roommate isn’t a huge fan of going out to eat when he’s in SF. So Thursdays and Sundays are delivery or take out days.(Basically they are his lazy days since he’s not working.) On Thursday, April 30th around 6pm, we decided to grab take out from Miki since I was craving ramen. *Miki ramen: includes chashu(seasoned pork slice), nitamago(seasoned boiled egg, half), menma(bamboo shoots), green onion –Tonkotsu: original pork based broth, Spicy miso($ 9.75) –Additional toppings: Pork belly(3 pcs) $ 3, Corn($ 1.25), Spinach($ 1.50) I’d been here years ago and remembering liking their ramen. I believe my memory served me well. The noodles had a nice chew. The broth good flavor. I thought the pork belly was great. Nice and tender. My only complaint was there wasn’t much soup for all the noodles and toppings. I typically like more broth. The roommate ordered the Chicken karaage(5 pcs): deep fried marinated chicken($ 7) and Katsu don: deep fried pork cutlet over rice($ 10). He enjoyed it and finished every morsel. Our only complaint was they didn’t give us a sauce for the karaage. We just made our own sriracha aioli at home. Great having a ramen joint and close to home!

One of the better bowls of ramen I’ve had in this city, and that’s been really hard to come by! Its a pretty small place, and they take reservations so I definitely recommend you to call ahead, just in case. I got the spicy miso ramen(regular spicy) which wasn’t too spicy at all. The basic bowl comes with half an egg, bamboo, seaweed and a slice of chasu. I ordered an extra egg, which was worth the dollar something. They soft boil it perfectly, and its cooked like a tea egg so there’s extra flavor. The broth was pretty solid, but I normally do like it to be a little more dense in flavor, personal preference. But the noodles were perfectly chewy, probably bc they were a bit thicker than usual. One comment about their takoyaki, I didn’t like how fried and crunchy they were on the outside. Def didn’t compare to the famous takoyaki at Izakaya Sozai. But would def go back for the ramen.

Wow. Never would’ve thought I’d find my favorite ramen spot in SF right in the Outer Richmond. I’m seriously impressed by Miki’s ramen even though they are not really your typical«ramen-only shop». I always thought this place was a simple neighborhood Japanese restaurant that happen to offer ramen(so how good would that be? I was skeptical). But after a reco from a friend AND the great reviews on Unilocal,I had to try. Surprisingly delicious and absolutely hit the spot. Noodles — perfectly wavy and al dente, just the way I like it Soup — hot(I’m always afraid of lukewarm soup), I ordered the spicy miso and the type and level of spice is excellent Pork — you can choose pork belly, but the regular pork that came with mine was not too lean and not too fatty Egg — texture and flavor is seriously on point Other toppings — I traded my menma with corn and wasn’t charged extra, plus it came with plenty of green onions and seaweed I’m glad I went at around 6pm before the dinner wave. I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to wait for a while, this place is quite small. But totally worth it. If you are really hungry I suggest adding extra noodles. No doubt I’ll return… like…next week! Love this place!
