I don’t understand why this place doesn’t have more stars! Filippo was amazing, the service was pretty quick. The pasta was really tasty and the bread was so bomb we asked for seconds. Somehow we found room for dessert and Lordy was the cassetta delicious.

Went on a nice Saturday afternoon because we couldn’t find and other available places for 4. A smaller restaurant but has good seating. The walls are covered in stone Art and mosaic tiled chandeliers. Service was fine, they didn’t really try to make conversation of tell us their name. I had standard fettuccini with tomato and meat sauce and it was average, nothing outstanding for an Italian restaurant. The gummy bears and cookies were random but a nice touch if u feel like staying and chatting.

Great view. Ok food. Terrible service. Our drinks were not refilled and the little I had left was sprinkled with Parmesan, nice touch from our waiter who seemed bothered by our presence. I had to ask four times for extra bread before he decided to bring us some. Excuse me if the pregnant lady is craving some carbs No wonder why they have someone outside luring people in. FYI — There are better ways to get more people inside your restaurant and make them loyal customers. It all starts with good service!

Although this place doesn’t look like much, I was super content with my $ 12 gluten free(and celiac friendly) fettuccine! No, it didn’t come with the side salad as stated on the menu, and there wasn’t any complimentary dessert like other reviewers mentioned. But $ 12 for a big bowl of pasta in San Francisco? I was happy! Best of all, there was no up charge for the gluten free pasta! It was more food than I could eat and definitely the best fettuccine alfredo I’d had in years! If you don’t want to wait an hour for gluten free pizza at the famous place across the street, this place isn’t a bad back-up. And heck, if I lived in San Francisco, I’d eat the alfredo pasta here weekly! And then gain 50 lbs but it’d be worth it.

I purchased the Groupon so I decided to go right after church. We were not greeted at the door. Just told to sit anywhere which happens to be a wobbly table. The server took forever to come take our order. We had two burnt pizzas, olives were wilted. They forgot to give us any water. My ravioli was really cold and dry. They gave us like 8 ravoilis and a plate full of cream sauce. And they also forgot our side salad. The food was terrible and the service was really poor.

Good coffee and cold beer on a hot day. Pretty interesting place with cool interior and friendly staff. Will visit again. Nice view of the park/church in from of it. Great for people watching. Remember to bring our creeper sunglasses. Minus one for closing early but that’s how Italian coffee shops are run I suppose. Cheers.

My friend and I was walking up and down the street to find a good restaurant, so we decided to go in, The Worst Mistake ever. I had the lasagne and my friend had spaghetti with meatball both dishes were very bland, they had salt and pepper on the table didn’t work, made it worst. like they just pour a can of tomato sauce on top. And for desert we got a plate of gummy bears and some cookie. and No stars for this restaurant.

Great lasagna, great service, it’s like you’re in Italy! And that’s the bottom line, even though Unilocal is trying to make me write more! One star for Unilocal.:(

Found this place via a deal on Groupon. My boyfriend and I love this place and it definitely deserves more love! Being that my boyfriend grew up eating real Italian food made by his family, he actually really loves this place! I always order the Fettuccine Mari E Monti and it’s so, so delicious! They give you the right amount of pasta and the quality of it all is on point. Fresh pasta + seafood = WIN. KUDDOS for free brushetta, olives, bread, gummy bears, and cookies! The staff is really friendly and are very courteous.

We had a reservation here. Service was speedy and quick. Complementary garlic bread and bruschetta. Between the 6 of us, there were 4 different dishes and everything tasted wonderful. The décor is… something to be seen. The price of the food was fair and in line with what you would expect. We didn’t get any complementary gummy bears though like some of the other reviewers :(Wap Wap Oh well. Still good.

We were late for a reservation that we had at another place nearby, so we had to find another restaurant for a Friday night dinner date. We came to this restaurant as a waiter lured us in. Our overall impression was that the interior was very unique with different Roman sculptures. We loved how they provided complimentary bruschetta and cookies at the end of the meal. However, the food itself was strange… My boyfriend’s seafood pasta was in a watered-down tomato sauce and my clam vongole was also watery. This was our first time having Italian food with watery sauce. On the menu, it read ‘broth’ so we just assumed that they purposely made the dish like that. However, I still prefer my pasta to be saucy and creamy rather than watery. 2-stars for the awesome service and the enjoyable time we had as a dinner date.

Ahhhhh, Michelangelo! Not a negative thought enters my mind when I dream of going back here. Any excuse is good enough to venture into this divine slice of Italy on the west coast! Salvatore is an excellent host, checking on each table himself, making sure every guest is happy and content. One time i ventured in to dine alone on a stopover since I had 6 hours before going on to Seattle. Salvatore was an absolute doll. He filled my wine glass and my tummy and sent me off to Seattle with a bag full of Amaretto cookies! The Gnocchi are handmade(there is even a YouTube video out there to see for yourself.) the Saltimbocca is delish! Fresh CRUSTY bread, large portions, great attentive service. See you soon Salvatore!

OMG!!! Had the Pollo Alla Milanese… So freakin good, yummy, excellent!!! Atmosphere is quaint… Owner was the guy in the back cooking all dishes… Would’ve gave them 5 stars, but for some reason we(my 3 year old daughter & wifey) did not recieve the same type of service as everyone else… Dont Know? But the food was truly excellent!!! Give it a try…

This is a wonderful Italian restaurant and warrants a higher rating than the current(3) stars! We were going to another place that was rated higher but found the atmosphere and the food more attractive here… the salads were fresh and lively… the calamari was delicately fried and had a light tomato sauce… service was outstanding and food was served promptly… we enjoyed the spaghetti n meatballs, eggplant parmigiana and another entrée, i can’t remember… it was all terrific and we will be back when in north beach… oh yeah… so we were going to another place for gelato and so asked for the check and they brought us a little plate of small biscotti and gummy bears! my GF was in heaven… she loves gummy bears and they’re the good ones!

Located in little Italy area of San Francisco. Wanted to get a dessert at another restaurant. One of the waiters stopped us on the street. He got our attention. I was a pinch reluctant to give this place a try. The staff was patient and friendly. Attentive were the staff listening to our requests. Water was served and menus were delivered. We ordered a tropical gelato treat and a tiramisu. The gelato was smooth, the white chocolate crust was a nice, a unique blend of tropical fruit. The tiramisu was light, decent custard, and mostly balance. The cake was soft. Neither was overly sweet. Each were distinct in their own. Check was settled quick. Overall decent was this place. Murals and statues on walls add to allure. Bad this place was just okay. I would come here again with all things considering.

Yes, we were tourists. Yes, the waiter on the street greeted us and claimed they have the«best Italian in SF». Yes, their décor is cliched Italian kitsch, but that was kinda fun. They’d just opened for lunch so we gave it a try. The service was attentive(we were the only ones in the restaurant for about 30 minutes) but not hovering. Our salads were not worth the price for the portion size and lack of creativity. DH wasn’t impressed with his pasta dish(concoction of meats with red sauce) but everyone else was satisfied. We’ve had much better Italian in our hometown(Portland, OR) so I wouldn’t recommend Michelangelo’s based on our one visit. It was better than Olive Garden but that’s not much of a compliment. None of us suffered ill effects afterward so it’s three stars for Michaelangelo’s.

It was a perfect Italian Dinner. All the food is amazing. From the bread to the spinach salad Cioppino Risotto Gnocchi with meat sauce and my Café Latte. The staff is all Italian Friendly Nice Attentive. The owner makes the sauce and cooks for you. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

Absolutely one of the best authentic Italian restaurants I’ve had in a very long time! Being half Italian it’s hard for me to find a place that reminds me of my family’s cooking and taste authentic. The son of the restaurant owner was standing outside greeted us told us about the restaurant it was warm, it was inviting. The food was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I took two of our nieces here, both in high school and both pretty picky when it comes to food, yet they enjoyed the food so much. Clean plates all around! I will definitely be coming back and bringing so many more people to this amazing family owned restaurant. I highly recommend trying this place!
