This place is a gem. The sandwiches are huge and so good, definitely worth it. I would recommend the gt3 or the wreck. You definitely won’t regret trying out the wreck.

Nice corner deli in an unassuming liquor store location. Great sandwiches for a fair price. Fresh fillings on fresh bread and rolls. The sandwiches are large and filling. Within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf if you want to get away from the tourist spots. The friendly counterman who made my sandwich stopped what he was doing to give free food and a bottle of water to a hungry homeless guy outside the store. Good people. Good food.

Great sandwiches that are fairly priced and use high end ingredients. Service is always good and it’s only short walk down the street to eat at the beach and watch the swimmers. Try the Tuna with everything on it– definitely my favorite.

It was more of a liquor/deli shop. We just got in from out of town and a lot of food places closed already. This was right across the street from Ghirardelli Square. We were able to pick up some food stuff for the hotel and order a sandwich from the deli. The sandwich was enough for two to split with chips and had really good flavor to it along with a good price as well. The shop owners were very friendly too.

Staff is always super friendly and sandwiches here are huge so you really get a bang for your buck! Love coming here because it’s right outside the touristy areas and you can actually get a good, not-overpriced lunch here. Don’t let the small, liquor store vibe fool ya. It’s a little treasure amidst the crowded tourist spots around this neighborhood.

i placed an order via Unilocal and it was ready minutes before our requested time. this is especially impressive given the fact that it was Fleet Week weekend! i got the Golden Gate and while the flavor was great and the bread super fresh, the bacon was limp. that was my big hesitation on getting the sandwich but the flavor was good enough to overlook that. my mom got the Wreck and it was delicious. i had to take a bite given all the rave reviews and it delivered on all fronts. i would get this sandwich the next time around for sure. the beer selection is really amazing. i love that they support a lot of local places. in fact, they even had bottles from Devil’s Canyon in San Carlos. never seen that before. customer service was fantastic. thank you. the sandwiches are huge but the price is right. this is a great find in a touristy area. i’ll be back. definitely.

This little gem makes the best sandwiches in the area! I live right around the corner and usually call them up 5 minutes before to order and it’s always ready on time and hot. I’ve had almost every sandwich on the menu and they are all delicious in their own way. The Wreck is my favorite by far which has every meat imaginable… it’s delicious Insider tip: Walk past the register to the glass deli case and stand there to order a sandwich, to make it look like you know what you’re doing

Great deli style sandwiches, get yourself away from the tourist trap that is Fishermans Wharf and treat yourself to some great food and service. Staff are welcoming and get the sandwiches made and to the customers extremely fast, highly recommend trying Michaelis if you ever travel to San Francisco

Greatest sandwiches in the universe, plus convenience store with great drink and candy selection. It’s the only place I’ve found with such a wide Haribo selection, good ginger beer, and ice cream. Plus they have a loyalty program so every 10th sandwich is free. GT3 with everything is the real deal and I will fight you if you don’t agree.

Amazing, amazing sandwiches filled with all the best ingredients. Really affordable too. The guys that work there are really chill. The veggie sandwich is literally huge and about $ 7! A zillion thumbs up. Best place to get lunch in the area– no doubt.

This place is amazing! The guys behind the counter make great affordable sandwiches. We usually get sandos and great beer(they have lots of good beer) and go sit at aquatic park. He gets the buffalo sando and I get the 49er. They are always really nice and funny too.

This little gem of a corner sandwich store makes the very best salami sandwich in the history of salami sandwiches, with everything, the Italian peppers are killer-diller amazing. For far less than anybody else charges. It is a pure miracle to find something to eat that is made with absolute care, excellent ingredients and to top it all off: friendly counter service. Michaelis Food Store is the Winner.

I work at Peekadoodle in Ghirardelli Square and this is my FAVORITE place to grab lunch. I really like the Jay’s sandwich and they make everything to order. Every sandwich comes with everything on it and the ingredients are listed on the bottom of the menu so make sure you tell them if you want something taken off… I’ll def keep supporting this mom and pop corner shop. The guy at the register with braces can be kind of a douche, but the food makes up for it!

Easily one of my favorite parts about living in the northern end of Russian Hill. It’s quick, convenient, and delicious. Everyone who works there is very chill. I’ve tried three different sandwiches and they’ve all been fantastic. I don’t think you can go wrong here. If you need a suggestion for your first time, the Warriors on dutch crunch is hard to beat. Go ahead and grab a side of the potato salad — also amazing. There’s of course the bonus that it is a mini-mart so you can grab beer, drinks, snacks, or whatever while your sandwich is being made.

I can’t believe I haven’t been here earlier! This place looks like just another liquor store on the corner, but they have fantastic sandwiches! We came by to pick up two sandwiches to take to Fort Mason green and I was super impressed with the quality and size of the creations. It’s nice that the sandos come with pesto by default. Can’t wait for the next sunny day to come by again to grab a sandwich for our picnic :).

Great sandwich place. I work just around the corner from here and this place has saved me countless times when I need to eat. This is your typical corner liquor store that also makes hot sandwiches. I have tried a number of them and they are all delicious. My favorite has to be the Warriors. Grilled chicken breast, pepper jack cheese, dijon mustard, and all the fixings. Yum! In an part of the city filled with overpriced restaurants, this place is a hidden gem if you need to grab a bite to eat.

New favorite neighborhood deli right here! Came in with Renu R. and we both ordered the Food: +Warrior Sandwich with no mustard and no onions and it was HUGE and delicious! Very fresh and tasty. And, for $ 7, you can’t beat that price(it’s basically 2 meals). +Muffins– $ 1.50(I got the poppy seed which was perfect cuz i didn’t want something too sweet) +Cherry Coke/Soft drinks– $ 1.00(cheaper than a water bottle) Service: Fast and friendly service. But, I have to warn you of the school kids during lunch time. They will take over and push you out of the way. Sandwiches will be flying over your head as the kids try to pay and get back to class. Ambience: Tiny deli facing north point street. Easy to pick up a sandwich and eat it at one of the tables at Ghirardelli Square. Yum! Will be back! –Hungry Hungry Pongy
