Hands down the best lounge/night club in San Francisco. Matrix is my favorite club in the whole wide world(and I have been all over the place). It is cozy, fun, posh, entertaining, and did I mention fun? Have you seen all the people lining up to get in? The DJs rotate every week and depending on what day you will hear a mix of the latest hits or some hip hop. Be prepared to dance! Go sit near the fireplace to enjoy your first drink and don’t forget there is a bar at the back(shhh) that may be less busy than the one at the front. I love Matrix so much I celebrated my birthday here. Matrix never fails. It will be fun guaranteed and I can wear my nice dresses :) One of my favorite things was always the fresh flower bouquets at the bar! The staff is top notch! Thank you Boon for always looking out to make sure the crowd is safe, JB for being so welcoming, Kalfani and Jahaziel — the sexy guys behind the bar, and Travis for running the show :) You guys are responsible for the best nights I had in SF! Love you guys!!!

I came for private party tonight. They took my friends coat and then did not know where her coat was after the private party ended. They said they had no coat check and were very dismissive. I expect better customer service.

Had bottle service here for my bday and at first I had the worst customer service from a girl. But thanks to Robert I changed my mind he was very attentive and gave me a good price for the bottle. I’ve always had a good time I come here. Nice place and and good crowd. Great music and drinks

I can’t speak highly enough about this place. It has everything I lookfor in a good bar. Staff is super nice, drinks are reasonablly for SF, the Lighting is awesome, plenty of places to sit down and chat with friends, a nice open area to mingle with new people, great music, dance area, and a sweet fire pit. It can get pretty packed late at night, but its an amazing spot regardless of time or location. I pretty much stop by here once a week.

I went here on Valentine’s day and the bouncer checking Ids told my girlfriend you can come in but she can’t. I was not allowed into the bar solely based off my weight. I weigh 135. It could just be that guy but if that’s the type of employees they have I can’t support their business. I have never felt so humiliated. And being on a date for Valentine’s Day no less I can not get the words out of my head.

It’s an okay spot, decided to check it out for the first time. They need to do a better job with crowd control/capacity, its bar needs to be on top of things and get drinks out faster. If the damn venue is already at full capacity, it’s common sense not to let anyone else in here and go over capacity. I don’t appreciated being knock around by numerous people because of this. Drunk people knocking me around it happens, but sober people doing that isn’t going to go over too well with me. –1 star here. The issue of capacity also made it very difficult to get to the bar for a drink. Even when I did eventually get to it I had to wait unusually long to even order a drink. –1 more star. I have ties to several clubs here in San Francisco and in the South Bay. All of which are way better about their crowd control /capacity. The places I have ties too, all have very well trained bar staff whom are on top things an able to get drinks out to customers left & right with little to no wait time. Sorry but I think next time I’ll be taking myself and my friends to one of my venues which I have ties too.

I had a great time at Matrix Fillmore. Thursday night wasn’t too crowded, you had some room to dance. Drinks were strong and on point. DJ Big Bad Bruce was spinning current and throw back tunes. Our waitress CarrieAnn was the nicest person, and so efficient. She took great care of us all night. I liked the security and support crew, the two B-Boy dancers that are regulars had fun with them all night, they kept the party going. can’t wait to come back. BTW my husband and I are in our 40’s(we still look young and cute), even though it was a younger crowd everyone was having a great time.

cool place to stumble in after a night of drinking. odds are your in there to meet some one new or like me, get dragged in there by a flamboyant european friend wearing white jeans with hand in his girl friends back pocket. dance floor gets packet, and getting a drink takes forever. if you manage to get sitting in the back its cool, but still struggle to maintain a conversation because your throat starts hurting from yelling over the music by asking the girl next you whats her name.

There’s something about good throwback dance music and Prometheus playing on the TV screens around this lounge that makes this my ideal hangout spot. I had such a great experience here with my friends, from ordering drinks at the bar to hanging out on the lounge seating lining the edges of the room. We arrived around 10PM and it was pretty empty, surprisingly. It got busy closer to midnight. The vibe is pretty chill and did I mention that I loved the music? Oh and I finally got to watch the scene in Prometheus with the alien being born. Doesn’t seem too bad when it has the soundtrack of pop music. Will definitely be coming back here again.

If the Jersey Shore we’re to be classier, this place would be it. Saturday Nights, there’s a $ 10.00 cover charge(I’m beginning to miss the days of getting in for free, etc.) Going inside, a lot of the girls we’re dressed pretty well. Whereas, the guys we’re in usual bro-uniforms, long sleeve dress shirts, jeans or slacks(not me, definitely looked more on the nerdy-hipster side and I was more concern of dancing and drinking w/my friends). A lot of people in these clubs do not not know how to dance(ladies included), so if you want more rhythm in your potential partner. Definitely better off going to the club next door(don’t remember the name but it’ll come back to me). Guy to Girl Ratio is 6 – 1, so if you’re trying your luck in here. You better come up with your A-Game. So you’re probably wondering why I gave this place 4 stars? –Customer Service is excellent, even with the ear deafening top 50 tracks getting blasted. The bartender(forgot his name), but he was very professional and when he gave me the wrong order(diet coke), he comp’d my jack and coke) and the rest of the orders costed me $ 17.00 not including tip(big difference compared to Jones). –Parking isn’t as easy, but you have options since it’s street parking versus price gouged parking lots –If you want to save money and flirt with the opposite sex, the foot traffic allows you to do that much easier versus the Tenderloin/Nob Hill area

Signature fireplace on the side lounge that makes this place memorable. Music is of the main, hip hop and house. Drinks are at open bar and priced at ten bucks on average. Dance floor is on the small side for a club scene. Fun spot to check out.

Celebrated Unilocaler Ann S.’ birthday here. I like the new look, but then again, I haven’t been here since 2008. Before Unilocal,we would go clubbin’ at Circa, Eastside West, Hi-Fi Lounge, followed by karaōke up the street at Silver Clouds. Nobody could tell if you sounded decent or not, everyone had partied in the Marina/Cow Hollow all night; therefore, we all looked and sounded great by 2 a.m. Nowadays, I don’t have the tolerance beyond 10:30 p.m. ya know, it’s when the party crowd starts coming in, and we old folks look for the exit. Ann reserved the back room for her private birthday party; however, I noticed the general public meandered their way back towards us around 10-ish. We were all having a great time dancing to old school tunes, and having the time of our lives celebrating the most fabulous woman we’ve all come to know ’til unfamiliar faces showed up. I hinted to hubby it was time to go, and we were shocked at how crowded it was in the main lounge shortly after 10 p.m. I say this is a total fire hazard. Luckily hubby is 6’4″ and quite noticeable. He tapped some of the taller guys on the shoulder in order to get their attention, and they made room for us to get out(they were not security). We needed to get outta there STAT — I was feeling claustrophobic. Good lawd, I was feeling for the smaller people, as they could have been trampled. What happened to this place, is there no capacity limit? I recall seeing staff at the front door allowing more patrons to come in while checking their ID’s after it was already jam-packed! Times sure have changed, and btw… it wasn’t Pizza Orgasmica across the street before — go to Nizario’s Pizza, they’re the best!

REPORTYOURSTOLENPHONE to have the SFPD looking into it!!! It only happens at this place. Last week my phone was STOLEN from my purse that was on my shoulder, while I was speaking to a friend. The place was not even that crowded. I noticed right away. It was like 20 minuted after I got there. Only this year, 4 of my friends had their phone stolen there, plus all of the people that told me that they had their phones or purses stolen at Matrix. One o my friends had her phone stolen at Matrix TWICE!!! When I noticed, I immediately told the security, and they didn’t make any effort at all to help, and just said«Sorry, nothing we can do». Interesting how they have no interest in solving this problem at their establishment. I am pretty sure that this place have a surveillance camera, on top of all of the bouncers outside and the security walking inside, no one ever saw anything or made any effort to avoid all of the robbery that happens there EVERYWEEKEND? I made a formal report to the police. Management should be more than aware of this problem, for the number os reviews that I just read on here saying that they also had their phones stolen at Matrix, and actually do something to protect their clients– if this is really an interest of these people. Will definitely not, ever in my life, step into this place again.

First time here was 10 years ago when a couple of college friends living in the sunset wanted to go for a drink. I vividly remember it was a weekday and arriving at around 10 – 11. We sat at the lounge area next to the window. What happened afterwards was a blur because of all the booze. I did recall grabbing some good pizza across the street, which I know now is Pizza Orgasmica. Fast forward to present day. Came here for Ann S’ birthday party this past weekend. Ms. Porsche C. and I arrived around 8:30 and it was completely emptied. I was like, «Hey, I’ve been here before!» Looked across the street and saw Pizza Orgasmica to confirmed. The lounge area in the front looked upgraded from the last time I was here 10 years ago. Classier and more elegant. New to my second visit was the discovery of the room in the back for private parties. We had our own personal bartender, Jazzy, and he was cool and accommodating from beginning to end. When he saw how drunk I was and began approaching the bar, he had a glass of water ready without me asking! Pricey drinks but I felt it was all worth it for the great service. What was disappointing was there was no Patron. We settled for Goose instead. DJ was cool, aligned with my taste mixing up with some old school R&B and hiphop from my high school days. Felt like I traveled back in time. For those that know me, I always appreciate a clean bathroom. I can honestly say this was the cleanest bar/lounge bathroom I’ve ever walked into. There was an attendant handing out paper towels next to the sink. He even offered me gum after third visit to the restroom and smelling all the booze from my breath :) As the night went on the main floor became PACKED! Yes, I was once again drunk as hell but remembered having a difficult time getting dragged out of there because there was barely any space. I don’t recall being this crowded by midnight the last time I was here 10 years ago. This would probably be my biggest complaint. Shout-out to my girl Ann S for a very happy b-day for inviting me here for a good time! Great location. Lots of fun. Nice music. Great bartender and yes, nice bathroom!

First time coming to this lounge\bar was to celebrate a friend’s birthday. This place is beautiful. Bar on the left with a fireplace in the middle of the main room. Located in the back they have another small room with a separate bar as well. I arrived at 8:30P.M. and by that time the bar was EMPTY. We celebrated the party in the back and had the pleasure of having the BEST bartender that night! Jahaziel our Jazzy Bartender did an amazing job making sure we were well pleased with our drinks. I was HIGHLY surprised that they don’t have Patron… WHAT? NOPATRON! That’s a NO-NO! After a while we had a DJ and it was on and crack’in after that! With liquor in our system and great music EVERYONE was dancing and having a great time. Once in a while we got the pleasure of seeing the sexy Manager Boon. Let me tell you this man is a sight to see! Ohwee! After 11PM. This place is JAMPACKED!(LITERALLY) It was like the workers opened the door and invited the whole San Francisco to walk in! I was like,” DIZZAM where did all these people come”. I was literally pushing people so I can get out of the club. Another NO-NO and definitely not safe! I was a little shocked at the bathrooms. They were so beautiful walking in but each stall was so filthy and no toilet paper. 1 hour bathroom checks would be nice. Overall, I definitely was happy with the atmosphere! Everyone was having a great time and enjoying themselves and that is what mattered the most. After a great time and amazing drinks there are TONS of places to eat around the area! Thanks to the lovely birthday girl for inviting me to her special day! This gave me great ideas on what to do for my birthday party! Until next time we meet!

I came here to celebrate Ann, the cutie’s, birthday. It was held in the private room in the back, with our own bartender! It was my first time here, so I didn’t know what to expect. The place looked very nice and modern. It was a good size, not too big, or too small. Keep in mind, I arrived at 9PM, when only those of us for the private party were there. The noise level when we arrived was perfect because we were able to chat, catch up, and snack on some goodies! I don’t think the place provided the goodies, but I may be wrong… Anyways, once it was time to dance, it was on! They played a good variety of hip hop and R&B, so we danced our tail-feathers like nobody was watching! When it was time to leave and headed out of the private area, I was in shock! The main room was PACKED! No joke! I was pushing people and was getting squeezed from all sides!. If anything, security needs to control the capacity in this place. Lastly, it was a blast and night to definitely remember! Cheers Ann to your day of birth!(water this time!)

Came here unexpectedly last night after being dragged along by a couple friends. Maaaaaaan oh MAN! This place was PACKED! So space to walk at all! I’m pretty positive I have a couple broken toes from how many times my feet were stepped on! The place itself is pretty cool. Setup is nice, very modern. Ladies get in free on Friday night, and cover for men is $ 10 each. The array of people was very diverse. All in all we had a good time here mostly due to the fact that we were with a big group of close friends. They should do some type of head count because jeeeez it was way overcrowded!

A scene from The Matrix Fillmore Colin: I imagine that right now you’re feeling a bit like where’s the party. Partying in the wrong holes? Unilocaler: You could say that. Colin: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts where he’s ‘partying’ because he expects nothing fun and exciting. Ironically, this is not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Unilocaler? Unilocaler: No. Colin: Why not? Unilocaler: ‘Cause I don’t like the idea that I’m not in control of my own party. Colin: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know, you can’t explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there’s something wrong with most the lounges and clubs out there. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there. Like a splinter in your mind… driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me here on Unilocal. There’s gotta be a better lounge/club. Do you know what I’m talking about? Unilocaler: The Matrix? Colin: Do you want to know what it is? (Yelper nods his head.) Colin: The Matrix is on Fillmore, it is in the Marina. Even now, they have the best Sunday and Monday industry nights. Friday and Saturdays pop off also. You can see it when you look at their lines or when you drive by. You can feel the bass when you walk by, or when you are across the street for pizza, or when you pay a visit. They have some of the best bartenders, staff, and DJs like the famous J. Espinoza. They even have a cozy fireplace. It is the other clubs and lounges that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Unilocaler: What truth? Colin: That you are a slave, Unilocaler. Like everyone else, you were born into bandwagoning, always inside clubs and lounges that don’t lift your spirit and boring DJs that don’t make you dance or drink with people who don’t know how to have fun. Dull prisons for your happy feet.(long pause, sighs) Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is for you. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. (In his left hand, Colin shows Über app.) You take the Über home and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take a few shots, pop a bottle of champagne and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes. All I am offering is the truth, nothing more. *Original script based on the Matrix Trilogy.
