I really like this gallery! I wouldn’t go as far as to give it five stars, but it is definitely leaning towards five. This is not all due to the art, because I haven’t always really liked all of the art that I have seen there. The main reason why I like it so much is because they don’t show humdrum art. There is always something different and fresh when I go, and the gallery itself is set up nicely. Also, the people who work there are very friendly and helpful(even to none buyers). The art that they show is very conceptual, so they are always willing to talk to you about it. Whenever I go to 49 Geary, I usually spend most of my time here.

I went to Mark Wolfe’s gallery last week and I had a grand olé time and met a phenomenal artist, Francesca Berrini. He sure knows how to pick them! Seriously, the 49 Geary galleries holds a really special place in my heart because it is one of the places that showcases artists from all over and in so many different genres(from fine art painting to installation). Mark Wolfe’s physical space seems as though it was made just for him and the artist he represents. It’s understated but perfect for the art pieces displayed. The large ceilings give the viewer an opportunity to really engage with every single piece and stand back and view the collection. The walls are so white that they seem Clorox bleached but the whiteness gives the perfect contrast for a stellar collection(i.e., especially when Jordan Eagle’s blood paintings were showing). Definitely worth a visit and you may get lucky and meet the showing artist and the director, Mark Wolfe himself. Quick note: I highly recommend going on a Saturday morning, it’s quiet and you will definitely get some good quality time with the collection!

They always have interesting work. I bought a couple of pieces from them and they are most helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They are worth visiting to see whats new.

This new up and coming gallery, has had some great shows over the last few months. They specialize in emerging artists and the work is consistently cutting edge with a street influence. The gallery will be moving to 49 Geary this fall. I highly recommend catching the last few shows in the current space.

I try and check out all of this galleries exhibits, the owners of Urbis-Artium definitely have a great eye for urban art, and have a cool space to showcase the works.
