I inherited a fur piece and didn’t know if it had value or not. I went up to Mak’s for and assessment and advice. I was very impressed with how nice the staff was. I called a few times before making the trip up to the City, and she was always helpful and encouraging on the phone. In person, she was very nice, helpful, generous in sharing her knowledge. She was able to identify the type of fur, evaluate the condition, identify it as an old piece, and advise me on what its likely worth was. I suggest you go here for help with your fur. Very knowledgeable, and will treat your fur right.

They cleaned and repaired a one-of-a-kind mink coat from the 60s. They know their fur and did an exceptional repair and cleaning. I don’t know how they removed the smoke and perfume, but they did. Thanks! They also provide temperature controlled storage.

Took in my grandmother’s mink coat to be altered and they did an excellent job. The coat fits like it was made for me, and they finished the alterations in less time than they had originally stated.

Ok I have never had my furs cleaned before so I really have nothing to compare to. Therefor the 3 to 4 star rating. I brought in a mink coat and blue fox coat that both needed some minor repair work done on them. The repair work was first rate. However when I picked up the coats after being cleaned they have a different look from when I took them in. They have lost their luster and shine and now have a dull look about them. I think I have seen something about getting furs reglazed and maybe that is now needed. Very knowledgeable but be prepared to pay when you drop off your furs. I guess I will look into getting my furs shined up now because they just don’t have the pretty healthy gloss they had when I took them in.

I needed some information on how to properly sell/consign three fur coats. The woman who took my call was so kind and helpful and when I do need their drying cleaning services, I look forward to visiting them. I am guessing they provide excellent service because this woman is so knowledgable.

Grandma’s mink shawl from 1962 has been reborn into a stunning infinity scarf and a fluffy pillow. Impeccable work from the masters and the only place in the Bay Area who will touch vintage fur.

I highly recommend Mak’s. I live in Marin, but I didn’t know any furriers in the area. I ended up trying Mak’s on a whim and I’m glad that I did. I’ve previously considered bringing my mink stole to a dry cleaner, but after doing some research online, the consensus was that going to a furrier is the way to go. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a lesson on how to care for fur. The location is weird. I almost turned away and assumed I had the wrong address. The outside of the building had signs saying Philippine center or consulate or something like that. When you first come in, there’s a front desk to the right and the employee can tell you where Mak’s is(it’s on the 8th floor, number 814). I signed in and took the elevator up. Cash or check only. I actually left my stole there and opted to mail a check.

My mother-in-law brought her coat and shawl here for a cleaning and they were not only knowledgable, but they were also very professional. The woman who was there when we dropped off the furs gave us a very interesting lesson on mink/fur care as well as quoting a very fair price for the cleaning that needed to be done. If you are looking for an A+ furrier, this is the place to go by far. She also had many racks of other coats so it seems like she is very busy, but she did mention she is the furrier for all the downtown department stores. Anyway, Mak’s is great.
