The birds are chirping. The days are longer. Macy’s is overrun with fresh flowers. It’s springtime. The hustle & bustle of shopping union square has a breath of fresh air every March at Macy’s. For 2 weeks, there are thousands upon thousands of fresh flowers displayed on the main floor. Every color, countless varieties, elaborately showcased at every turn. It’s lovely. It takes the mundane errand of running in to pick up something to a whole different level. Makes it… civilized. Refined even. If you walk in from the Geary entrance, don’t stop at the jewelry or handbags. You gotta make sure to check out the cosmetics department, too. It’s as if you’re walking through a ginormous luxury hotel lobby, only you’re surrounded by cosmetics. It’s an impressive display. You’re struck by the elaborate presentation, the colors, the freshness, & the sheer size of it all. There are also cooking demos, flower arranging demos, live music, & even a fashion show scheduled on certain days throughout the 3 weeks. Union Square’s unofficial launch of spring. I’m dragging my man here to see it later on. Such a beautiful & positive thing. Even if you’re not shopping, stop by if you can. A feast for the eyes, & an easy smile on your face. 5 stars.
