I have no joy in writing this review, but my experiences with this business have forced my hand. I would rather no one have to experience the same anxiety that I did. My company decided to use Macadamia for our office Thanksgiving celebration on Monday, November 23rd. I contacted them two weeks ahead of time, and asked for a proposal menu. They promised a proposal by end of business on November 13th. When I had still not received this proposal on Monday November 16th, I sent a followup email. I received the proposal on November 17th, with an apology that they had a last minute event that prevented them from getting it to me sooner. I brushed it off at the time– everyone gets busy. On the same day, I let them know that the menu looked good, and we would like to proceed with service. They forwarded a contract and credit authorization form, which was returned to them within 48 hours. The account manager that I had been in contact with throughout the process emailed me in the late afternoon on Thursday, November 19th, requesting a site visit the next day. While I understand why she requested it, I believe it could have been discussed sooner, to ensure that it would be possible. I was unable to get back to her in time to make it happen. In lieu of the site visit, I sent a very detailed email about drop-off procedure. She let me know that this would be sufficient, and I would see them on Monday morning. My last conversation with the account manager was on Friday, November 20th, confirming that they would be arriving on Monday morning to set up for our 11:45am event start time. The final contract that was sent to me stated that her team would arrive onsite at 10am to begin setup for our meal. When Monday morning came, her team did not arrive at 10am. At 10:30am, I began a series of calls to her cell phone and her office that would ultimately go completely unanswered. No one called me to tell me they were running late. No one called to reassure me our food would arrive. At approximately 11am, after several attempted calls, she even begun sending my calls to voicemail after one to two rings. At 11:50am, five minutes after our event had been set to begin, two cooks arrived with our food. I still hadn’t heard a word from anyone at the company, telling me why this was happening. Our event started at 12:30pm instead of 11:45am, and only because myself and my manager helped the cooks to get food set up. I received an email from the account manager the NEXTDAY. In this email, she complained that I had not been responsive enough during the process, and that I had not allowed her a site visit to ensure that everything went smoothly. I replied that I was shocked by her level of professionalism, and her gall in essentially blaming me for the missteps of the day prior. She outright refused to admit that she was at fault in any way. She also has not had the courtesy to apologize for attempting to shift blame to the customer. In fact, she has not had the courtesy to return any of my correspondence since the day after the incident. While their food is good, their service(at least in our case) is absolutely abysmal. If you decide to use this business, please do so with caution. You may find yourself waiting for your food for hours with no explanation; and if/when it does show up, they may refuse to acknowledge fault.

Macadamia provides lunch for our company and the food is spot on every time. Our team is always happy and excited to see what Bronson’s surprises us with next. We looked at all the other food services ZeroCater, Zesty… but if you want amazing, creative meals that don’t put your team to sleep use Macadamia. Fresh, healthy, creative meals and great service.

ArtSpan has hired Macadamia Events & Catering to cater our annual fundraising Art Auction since 2012. Every year Bronson and his staff provide fabulous, reliable service and outstanding, drool-worthy food for our 400+ guests. This year, the menu was out of this world, featuring lobster corn dogs, mini chicken & waffles, Dr. Pepper braised short ribs, ceviche, and smoked trout caviar. The presentation was so creative — it really elevated the entire event and our guests were very impressed. Angela was super communicative during the entire planning process and a pleasure to work with. If you are looking for an experienced, professional caterer to provide classy, beautiful, and delicious food for an event, Macadamia is the caterer for you!

Our company had them cater lunch to us one Friday afternoon, with a pretty extensive menu! I’m not sure how stress-free it was to book them, but I know that our head of marketing was a little worried since they were apparently supposed to arrive at about 11AM but didn’t arrive until nearly noon(something about not being able to find parking, or so I heard through the company grapevine). I snagged their grilled snapper, grilled steak salad(but just the steak, minus the salad part), some braised Moroccan chicken with tomatoes, dates, fresh herbs and lemon peel, Israeli couscous with cauliflower, steamed broccoli, dried cranberries, lemon and extra virgin olive oil and some roasted fingerling potatoes with dill, carmelized onions and chili flakes. I hate whining about free food(because generally, free does tastes better), but the grilled snapper was not in the least bit appetizing, from looks down to flavor. People were actually worried that the fish looked raw and/or undercooked(see photo for reference). We were reassured that it was only because of the manner in which it was cooked that it looked the way it did. I’m not sure though, since bits of it were kind of transparent and raw looking. Honestly, I don’t think there was much flavor at all to it(other than a «smoky» flavor which I can assume came from the grill). I wasn’t a huge fan and would pass on this next time. The steak and the kale in the grilled steak salad was good though! The steak looked to be done about medium and it wasn’t too tough to chew, so no complaints. Also had a mild«smoky» flavor to it. The chicken was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone and the marinade it’s sitting in is pretty yummy too. No complaints there! The couscous wasn’t anything special, though it served to cut the heaviness of the meats really well. The roasted potatoes were also pretty good, though I think it would be pretty hard to screw those up. Overall, a decent meal. Not the best I’ve ever had, but not the worst either. I don’t know if I would personally ask them to cater any events of my own per se, but if I did, then I at least know what dishes to stay away from!
