Portal to the past. Where there was once destruction: There is now tranquility: Quiet and reflective the lake not only has historic monuments but also a small waterfall towards the right side. Adds even more ambiance to such a strikingly beautiful place. Future days will be spent here.

The mini waterfall was the highlight of the park to me. Picture perfect. There were a lot of birds around though. My friend is afraid of them, so it made me afraid of them. Fear is contagious.

Another little water feature here. It’s the end of the river that comes from the Prayer Brook Cross. Pedestrian crossing is over some rocks where the water flows beneath. Depending on the time of year, there are all manner of foul bobbing around in the pond.

Joe and I passed this cute lake on our hike through Golden Gate Park today, and we loved it. So many ducks and geese, and we spent about half an hour just taking in the wildlife, and it was amazing how tame they were. The lake is pretty big, and there are a couple of benches around the perimeter of it – such a treat.

25 years ago Lloyd Lake was where I got down on one knee and did the traditional proposal to my now spouse of 24 years. Back then in ’86 it was a peaceful and rustic lake with pillars and a waterfall. What guy in his right mind would pass up an opportunity like this one? It even supplied a park bench. Doesn’t rate 5 stars, but it comes awfully close for the purpose it was used for.

LLoyd Lake is a nice place in the park to enjoy your lunch, and don’t forget to bring some wild bird seed for the ducks’ lunch!

Lloyd Lake isn’t the most interesting or beautiful body of water in GG Park… I mean we got Stow Lake, Chain of Lakes, the beautiful ponds in the arboretum… however I do really enjoy this place. One of its draws is the old stone column that sits on the edge of the lake, known as the«portals to the past.» Apparently it was part of some house up on Nob Hill that was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake, that was later donated to GG Park. Also, a plethora of ducks seem to occupy the waters. It’s on JFK Dr near Crossover Dr
