I’m actually amazed at how low the rating is here. I’m Chinese but I personally dislike Chinese food or anything related so it’s quite hard for me to find some Chinese place that I like. this place has free wifi and the service is over all pretty good. My favorite thing here is probably the lemon ice tea it’s really good in my opinion. The Russian borscht is good too, it’s flavorful and pact with flavor. I was actually expecting it to be bland but it isn’t. I also ordered the curry ox tail over rice. It was pretty good not great but good. the ox tail was nice but the curry was a little powdery tasting and the veggies were soft but that was about it.

This place is way better than the reviews suggest. The pan friend lamb is so good here.

I can tell if your cheap the customer service would be bad towards you. But I came here with a group of 10 so they were extra nice to us. There is FREEWIFI! But the most important part is the food. How is the food here? It wasnt special and maybe they got lucky giving us a decent meal but its just OK. Ice they use is a little dirty and the plates are a little bit small. Too many meals to choose, some not even chinese food(This can be bad for many reasons) But their an honest chinese family just trying to make a living. End the end, I would never come here again unless someone else is treating me because there are way better restastaurants over this place.

This place is not great… and we didn’t even eat the food. Service was horrible right off the bat. We ordered water and the gentleman, told us if we didn’t order he was going to charge us for our«drinks» aka water. Ok? We payed for them and left.

Came here for breakfast today. I love the five dollars breakfast. It includes milk tea, pancakes and your choice from a huge list including porridge, sandwich and noodle… The place is clean and roomy, free Wi-Fi. I think everyone should know about this hidden gem. Very close to the Vallejo parking lot. I have lunch here before, not bad.

For a Hong Kong-style restaurant, this one is quiet and clean. Though, I may not know the Health Department score. I do feel optimistic on the cleanliness since this café is still located in Chinatown. For lunch, I had the Chicken Chow Mein. For $ 7.50, I get the cooked chicken pieces with vegetables and long pasta. It has been a while since I crave for the greasy pasta dish and I like the flavor of this dish. However the only downside of this dish is the pasta cut up into one inch strands instead of long strings. But that is just minor, but enjoyable. My pasta dish:
I also added a cold glass of Hong Kong-style iced tea with my dish. The drink was flavorful without the over-excessive amount of sweetness. As some of you have read from my «Quick tip», the café offers free Wi-Fi. I get to watch the news. I also forgot to mention that this café is only open for breakfast and lunch and no dinner(7am-4pm). Unless you eat dinner at 3pm. Despite the very low rating given, I thought the café was a tad better than what it indicates!

Pretty good HK food place – not sure why everyone is hating on it! Clearly a mom-and-pop place – the girl at the cash register is clearly a teenager who is part of the family of owners. I happen to think service is pretty nice given how short staffed they usually are. As for the food, it’s definitely authentic food. The Hainanese Chicken Rice is the BEST. It’s hard to find good versions of this dish anywhere even in Chinatown. The lemon tea, milk tea, are all HK style. The baked rice is Huge, and is always more than I can finish. The only downside is that they tend to close early(6pm), so I usually drop by whenever I am in the area if they are still open

Horrible service. I ordered for delivery(estimated 45 minutes) and they called me over an hour later saying that were busy but would start making the food then. Very unprofessional and the food isn’t even that good.

Asian style café Came with a group of 6… Rice was overcooked and hard(or perhaps leftovers from the day before) Friend had the ginger chicken… came out super cold and hard… straight out of fridge. not fresh at all Personally I had beef curry stew… was very greasy Nobody seemed to enjoy their food… lunch specials came with coffee that was not very good as well We did spend some time here as it was nice and empty and we were able to converse in the quiet environment. Hard to find a place that doesn’t kick you out right away in Chinatown… All in all… most likely not coming back here. Lots of others options in Chinatown.

Ive always been afraid to go to a café during my lunch break due to slow services that I have experienced. But this place was quick and easy! I ordered the curry chicken with rice. Oh boy. ITWASSOGOOD! The chicken was very very tender ! Service was also good. I was seated immediately when I arrived and greeted with a warm smile! Definitely will be back !(: My new go-to spot on my lunch break !

This place is disgusting. I was staying at the Hilton in downtown and decided to order delivery. First, the delivery man didn’t want to come across the street into the hotel. He kept calling me phone, telling me to come outside and cross the street to get the food. ??? Weird. That aside, the food is NASTY. I got pork cutlet with fries. EWW. The pork was ALL fat with a bone still stuck on the top. Chicken salad. It was swimming in strangely tangy mayonnaise. The chicken was bland… At least I hope it was chicken. IDK what exactly the meat was, it was gray and boiled down. Black Bean Cod with Chicken over rice. It was ok. Greasy, but at least it was edible. Prawn fried rice. It was ok also, but 5 prawns in a big container of fried rice. WTF. Don’t eat here. Not unless EVERYONE has gone out of business.

Not bad, not great either. Call this Plan-C, when you absolutely cannot find any other place to eat. Service is friendly, clean establishment and a fairly large menu.

I only come here for breakfast since it opens hella early. I love to get the satay beef ramen here but the quality of it varies. The first 2 times it taste amazing but the recent time noodles were soggy and stuff. Free wifi tho :)

This place embodies«Meh». When we asked what the server would recommend, she didn’t really have a good answer… which was worrisome. I ended up getting pineapple fried rice because I thought that would be «safe». Oh how wrong that was. It wasn’t bad, per se… but it wasn’t good. I think I could’ve made a better fried rice. and I’m no cook! It was seriously lacking in pineapples, which i dont understand… woudn’t adding more pineapples be cheaper? The chicken was okay and rice was bland. Prices were decent, if not high given the quality of the food. Probably not coming back here again.

First time here, this place has the Hong Kong café feel when you walk right in with so many ads of menu items taped on the wall and the tv on the corner near the door. their menu items are very hong kong café like and serve a lot of the same dishes as ABC café. I ordered a baked sneak over fried rice. Very tasty, but 30% of my piece of steak was fat or either un-chewable because of the tendon or wahtever that cheap piece of steak was. I guess for some of the prices, you cant complain. The service here is good and it’s quite clean too. I wanna try something else next time though

The kway teow(Singaporean-style fried noodles) had some nice heat to it from the red pepper flakes, but I was confused why there was spam involved. The shrimp was the usual touch, but the spam strips? While tasty, it made the whole dish a little greasier tasting than it should have been. The baked pork chop rice was meh. Definitely have had better marinated pork chops elsewhere and it was a bitch to cut up. All on a bed of red-sauced dry fried rice with little crumblets of fried egg. Speedy service with a smile, but food doesn’t make the grade.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to eat at a Chinese version of Denny’s? This place has it all. From the screaming kids, bad service and extensive menu, it makes for an unforgettable experience you would never want to repeat. This diner has a plethora of Chinese and American style dishes to choose from — steak, chow mein, etc. We opted to play it safe and go with the wonton noodle soup. We waited almost 5 minutes before anyone took our order. It took almost 15 minutes for them to deliver the food despite there hardly being any customers. The soup itself was nothing special in terms of taste and value. With so many good restaurants in the area, there is absolutely no reason for anyone with taste buds to eat here.

I’m bumping up to four stars for the following reasons: 1) This time around, they didn’t simply just put the red beans and ice into a blender and mix. The red bean drink is so much better now with chunks of ice cubes floating on top. haha, I’m picky. I hated the shaved ice before because I didn’t like crunching down on ice; I just wanted to eat the red beans. 2) The eggplant and beef over rice is OMG(you gotta see the picture that I’ve posted) 3) yay! one of the waitresses remembers me! She is such a sweet lady =D

My friend really likes this place. He goes there all the time. I love cream of mushroom soup and my friend said this place had it. Came here once before but decided to come back just for their cream of mushroom soup. The place is spacious. It is cleaner than most places in chinatown and also I like how it is well lit. The waitress was very friendly and kept coming back to ask how we were doing. The cream of mushroom was pretty good except that it had chunks of flour in it that was condensing. =/They gave me a good amount. I couldn’t finish! It came with toast. A piece of bread cut in half with some fake looking butter in between. Looked gross. I also ordered an ice fruit. Pretty much just a can of mix fruit with water and ice flavored with some syrup. Not bad but not great. I wouldn’t mind coming back here and trying some other dishes if I am in the Chinatown area and starving. My friend told me they have good lunch specials therefore all the people come here for their lunch breaks.

Typical Hong Kong style café with decent Chinese food. I usually come here because it’s right across the street from the North Beach Garage and it’s convenient. I order the satay beef ramen which comes with chewy(not the best) slices of beef, bell peppers, onions, and bits of pineapple. Comfort food but undoubtedly packed with MSG. Fiancé orders Ma Po Seafood Lo Mein which is noodles with squid, shrimp and tofu, which he loves and quickly devours. Their hot milk tea is made with the perfect amount of sweetness. The service is decent for a Chinese restaurant. They get you what you need. The waitress there recognizes us so she jokes with us. Overall, this is a well-priced Chinese restaurant with decent food. Definitely more of a place for locals.
