I have to say wow! While location and décor is low key, Lisa is amazing! Effective, precise, have good eye what will fit you. What is most amazing, this is a hidden gem! The price is unbelievable $ 12, I went there because of emergency and reviews seemed good. There is so many places, posh and rip you of easily $ 60 for a guy while giving worth hair cut. You own your self to give a try! Tip generously

Love this place. Been coming here for years now. Julie is amazing and incredibly nice. $ 12 for a hair cut in SF is a steal!

Best 12 dollar haircut in this city anyway. Pleasant personality, she instantly knew what style was going to work with the shape of my head/face. Good experience, I’ll go back

We live in the area and my husband has been going to Lisa for his hair and I get my eyebrows done. She is very efficient and super nice and always does a great job! We brought our 2 year old for her first haircut here last week and was nervous because out daughter can be inpredictable. The stylist was patient and let my daughter take her time and also gave her awesome cut!!! She is talented and nice go see her!

This is the best place where a guy with curly hair can have, Julie is a very friendly person, she’s talented and she know what she’s doing. I’ve been going to high scale salons and I was never happy with my haircut until I first had my hair cut here and I just loved it, since then I become a regular customer of her. I’m actually going today to have my sexy hair cut! I can’t wait!

Julie is the name of the woman who runs ‘Lisa for Hair’. I’ve been going to see her for the last several years. A lot of people compliment me on my haircut after every one I’ve gotten. That says a lot to me.

After seven years of living a few doors down and having a store close to hers, I recently met Lisa. She was very sweet and since I was in desperate need of a haircut, I went in today. I have been wanting to get rid of the dead ends with a bob for a while, but the could not get hairdresser friends to do it. They insisted on just trimming the ends. Lisa was great! She just cut that dried out, dead hair and I feel so much lighter! I resisted the urge to take a pic of the straw, I mean hair, that I finally shed! And having a business close to hers, I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviewers about working in this area. I lasted a little over a year and it was brutal. Lisa is my hero!

For the price, and if you don’t have any super particular needs, this place can’t be beat. Very friendly, fast, and kind. Also, I’m balding a bit, and she always tells me it seems like my hair is getting thicker, which it isn’t, but good to hear :)

No. I asked for long layers, she kinda just chopped my hair into two lengths, think two levels of bowl cut. I would not recommend her for girls. The cut was cheap though, 16 bucks. You definitely get what you pay for here… shorter hair, not much style. Go TL. =/

My hair is wavy and difficult to cut. Since 1980 I’ve been to a lot of barbers in SF, paying as much as $ 50. to get it done right. A few years ago I took a chance at Lisa’s for Hair. I didn’t expect much for $ 12., but what I got was as good as the $ 50. cuts, and twice as fast. So I’ve been a steady customer ever since. There are allot of competing hole-in-the-wall barbers and«hair salons» in the neighborhood offering $ 12. cuts. Lisa’s is comfy and spacious and has the best location right at the bus stop on O’Farrell and Hyde, yet she barely makes enough to survive. She’s a hidden treasure, very sweet and talented and deserving of success. I highly recommend her.

After reading the reviews, I’m not gonna lie, I was slightly nervous about coming here. I didn’t have time, however, to go anywhere else, since this is right around the corner from my house. I went in and Julie was super nice. I had to wait for her to cut a gentleman’s hair, but she was very quick. She was very friendly while cutting my hair, but if I decided to be quiet she wouldn’t push the issue. She was very careful to make sure she cut the right amount — including asking me to show her what I considered an inch. While she was cutting my hair, I mentioned that I needed something to do to make my hair less dry. She told me that if every time I shampoo and condition, I leave the conditioner in my hair for 20 minutes before rinsing I’d notice a huge change. I thought this was genius. Anyway, not only did she do an AMAZING job on my hair, but she also did a fantastic job on my eyebrows. I was out the door for $ 25 tip included! I will definitely be coming back!

I have been going to Lisa for Hair for years; I got tired of paying $ 60 for a haircut by disinterested«stylists» coming down from their previous night of partying. Lisa did indeed move to Austin, but Julie the new owner is even better in my opinion. My haircut always turns out perfectly, exactly the same each time, unlike those high priced salons. She’s also adorable and single, and if I was straight I would have already asked her out. Recommended.

Julie, the new owner and stylist, is very sweet and very available. I was able to immediately get a haircut when I wandered in yesterday, a Saturday, without having to make an appointment. Well, it would have been immediate, but she only takes cash, so I made a segue to the ATM. I was definitely pleased with the cheap haircut. She took my request for a ‘trim’ very literally, though, and I still feel like my hair is longer than the last time I got it cut 6 weeks ago. But I’ll be going back. Because she’s inexpensive, she’s available, and she’s in the neighborhood.

Considering the price and considering the other options in the area — this place is a godsend. Lisa is quick and consistent. Her cuts are kind of predictable,(short, short short — a little left in front). If you wear your hair short this isn’t a problem. Once she gets to know you and opens up a bit she’s actually quite interesting. Anyone operating a business in that area and working 6 days a week, all the while providing quality workmanship — gets kudos from me, every time.

Lisa is one of my favorite people in the Tenderloin. She basically does one short cut and that’s it — but let me tell you why we love her… First, if you own a business in the Tenderloin with the 38 Geary bus stop right outside, you automatically put up with an array of bullshit and assorted foolishness from people. If you can do that and not be a total bitch, then you rock. Also, I bet it would suck to cut head of hair after head of hair like a conveyor belt, but she does it and is always super friendly. Really, she’s someone who opened a business and is living her American dream and I totally admire people who do that.

The other reviewers have said it all. She’s funny and really efficient. And for $ 16(reasonable tip included) a guy can’t go wrong. Could a girl go wrong? I couldn’t tell you, she gave me the standard castro-district short on the sides leave just enough in front to comb-forward and gel in place cut.

Because I keep my hair short I have ti go every 2 – 3 weeks TOPS and I CANNOT see spending more than $ 20 on a haircut, it’s just ridiculous! Well I was introduced to Lisa and her shop about 3 years ago & have not stopped going! She now knows how I like it and how to do it! All I do is walk in, say hi and BAM she got it! And for $ 15(including tip) I cannot complain. Lisa’s cool and funny, once you learn how to understand her, heavy accent, she’s pretty good and funny! Yeah the doors might be locked at times, but if you were a woman in your own shop alone in the TL and weighed all but 95lbs I’d keep it locked too!

I can’t decide about this lady. She is really sort of odd. Whenever you walk in there, she is always sort of hesitant, like she is about to close or waiting for someone and she doesn’t really want you to be there. However, her salon is literally just outside my apartment and so I figured, what the hell? Getting my eyebrows waxed couldn’t be more convenient or cheap and I don’t have to walk very far with those lovely red irritated blotches around my eyebrows.(embarassing!) Sometimes she does a great job on my eyebrows. Sometimes my skin gets really irritated. Sometimes they look kinda weird. But I keep going back. Because I’m lazy. One time I let her trim my hair, and I think it looked really good considering haircuts are $ 10. And I’m picky about my hair. She blew it dry for free, but told me that was a one time thing. I would get a trim from her again, but not a major haircut. overall, i’m pretty 50⁄50 on this place. another oddity of the loin.
