I’ve been wanting to pick up a (don’t laugh) french horn. On eBay, a good used horn goes for at least $ 1,500. I was able to find a good King Eroica french horn here for $ 250.
When I showed interest in the horn, they hauled out an interesting antigue upright flugelhorn to ask me what it was. I’m always amazed at the crazy instruments you can find in shops like this. One of the other local shops has an old 2 valve G mellophone. Neither instrument is the least bit useful, but still, interesting.
These are nice guys, willing to haggle on pretty much anything. It’s as nice as you would expect a pawn shop on Sixth street to be. And they have a better variety of items than the other pawn shops in the neighborhood.
