Better for take out then sit down. The décor is a bit older with sticky tables and bad commercial carpet. Food was a good 3.5 stars The Pad See-Ew with beef was wonderful. The Lemongrass Special Noodles was just ok. The soup base was very sweet. Now why only three stars? BUGS in the hot sauce. I take a star off for cleanliness but there wasn’t an option for 2.5 stars so 3 it is. I was scooping hot peppers into my soup noodles and found two bugs in the sauce. Disgusting! They did replace my soup. I hope they keep a better eye on cleanliness.

Food is mediocre and the service is awful. We waited 45 minutes for 2 to go entrees and received no apology or attempt to speed up our order.

The restaurant is located in a very good place. The only issue is parking. I spent like 20 mins just to find a place to park. Maybe, I was looking at the wrong places. Food is very good. We ordered the red curry, stir fry tofu and lemongrass chicken. All dishes were really good. The red curry was very creamy and very unique(to other restaurants I’ve had). lemograss chicken had that zest of lemograss. Very flavorful. Had a great meal and took a nice towards Lombard St(Crooked St). Only if the staff could keep restaurant a bit more clean. Somehow it was smelling very badly when I visited.

Came here for dinner the other night with my boyfriend and his friend. We like to come to Thai places because they have meat options for him & veggie options for me. This place has a plethora of veggie options which is nice, however, the one I ordered was not good. I ordered the pad thai jay which basically pad thai with tofu. In general I don’t mind asian sauces that are sweet, but the sauce on this dish was beyond sweet. It was so sweet I actually couldn’t eat it, but I did end up bringing it home and dousing it in sriracha and lime juice which made it slightly better. Maybe their other veggie options are better?

Ordered take out from here in a Thursday night. We are vegetarians and had the pad see ew, tofu with ginger, eggplant with tofu, and red curry. While everything was okay, nothing stood out and overall the food was bland and all dishes tasted similar. Next time we’d probably just go with Thai Spice down the road on Polk– they’re a little slower but better.

Ordered through Unilocal for Delivery. Order was an hour late. But Unilocal Eat24 service in resolving the issue was EXCELLENT. Gave a 2* because Pad Thai wasn’t spicy at all(ordered Medium) and tasted strange. The sticky rice with Mango was good, though. Order also arrived with no silverware & we were in a hotel so once it arrived we had to tread downstairs to find something we could use to eat it with. Probably won’t order from here again even though it was recommended by the hotel staff.

On a slow Monday night 6 of us ordered dinner and each person was severed separately, the last nearly 30 minutes after the 1st person was served. When we complained the waitress said we were served in the same order that she took our order. The fact that the last person served was 30 minutes later then the first didn’t seem to compute . Also the food was mediocre at best and restaurant itself was freezing — we all had to wear our jackets. total bill for six $ 150.00

No winners here– I’ve never met the chef but I get the impression he doesn’t like me.

Food tastes a bit old and not so authentic Thai food… It’s more like Chinese food with a bunch of vegetables! Small portion~

The restaurant is nice, with pleasant décor and friendly staff. The Hot Beef Salad is chewy and crunchy and tastes fresh. Cool and crispy, it’s flavorful and has an irresistible crunch. Very tasty. Oh, and did I mention that the beef is also crispy? Delicious. The Pad Makuer Tofu is sweet and tasty but a little too salty in my opinion. The tofu could use some more time to soak the flavor, but it was also very good. Cutting the tofu into smaller pieces would have made the dish much better. Overall a great meal with delicious food. I recommend it if you’re in the area.

Warning: do not go here. Eating, undoubtedly, the worst Thai food we’ve ever had. The shrimp toasts were like eating sponges soaked in oil. The pad Thai had almost nothing but noodles and a so so red sauce and 3 prawns. The yellow curry was edible but watery. Completely disappointing. Don’t bother.

***************************** 1438 *************************** We walked by here on the Fleet Week weekend. I smelt the lemongrass and we walked in. We were surprised to know that they have been serving guests since 1994, in this Russian Hill District restaurant, same chef and owner. Thai curries, fresh seafood dishes, spicy noodle soups and flavorful, traditional vegetarian fare. Chef uses fresh ingredients, a unique balance of flavors and an exquisite combination of spices, Lemongrass Thai Cuisine satisfies any Thai craving. — SILVERNOODLESYUM — Silver noodles, mushrooms, red onion, green onion, cilantro, crispy tofu, and chili in lime juice. — POTAK Spicy and sour soup with combination of seafood was very good. — YUMWOONSEN Tasty silver noodles, fresh ground chicken, shrimp, mushroom, and onion seasoned with chili paste in lime juice was perfect. — MOOYANG Pork, marinated and grilled, served with sweet chili sauce. This was perfectly grilled. — MIENG-KUM A very special Thai appetizer prepared with roasted coconut, peanuts, ginger, red onion, spinach leaves, lime, and dried shrimp in our delightful Thai herb sauce. This street food dish was delicious. I don’t find this dish around the Bay Area much. Service was good. Price is so reasonable here. We will definitely come back.

This place used to be better. Came here for a quick bite with friend after not having been here for a few years, and got Kung Kra Praw(Basil Shrimp). The taste was a little off — can’t quite put my finger on it, but didn’t have that rich, spicy basil flavor you want from a Thai basil dish. It was spicy, but the basil flavor wasn’t strong. Also, my friend’s portion and my portion were very different sizes, though both entrees. Probably still reliable Thai, but the basil dishes here used to be my favorite. Would be 2* for this experience alone, but rounding up to 3 for the great Thai I’ve had here before. BRINGITBACK!

Two stars for«Double Tipping» aside from the slow service and okay food. Me and a group of people went at 530. They did not have any other table, but everything took a while to get, especially the check. Having worked in a restaurant, I was very forgiving of the service cause I assumed they lacked the training. When they brought us the check, and I mean, they did not bring an itemized check or we had given our credit card first. Again, being a waiter, I was sympathetic and left 15%(thats what I do for generally bad service). However, when I asked if gratuity was included, they said yes. It floored me because they charged me a tip already and I was going to give them another 15%. Double tipping is a pitiful way to charge the customer double tips, leading to the waiter actually profiting, even if they did not provide good service. That is why they did not provide an itemized receipt. I am going to give it 2 starts and not 1 because I am assuming the owner discourages double-tipping and cares about his customers. Yet, the waitresses were well aware of what they were doing.

Came here after a hike around 1pm on a Sunday. Not many people, so it was perfect for a big group like ours. We ordered and the food came quickly. Overall the dishes were decent and reasonably priced. Nothing really stood out, so I may not go back.

My friend and I were seated for a table for two in the back of the dining room. It was a bustling Wednesday night during supper time. The hostess sat us right away and promptly brought us menus. We ordered a papaya salad, pad Thai, and a chicken coconut soup. The portions for the salad and pad Thai were pretty big and perfect for sharing. In fact, the salad and half the pad Thai made for a great leftovers lunch! The flavors and food consistencies were spot on and the salad want too spicy/inedible like some traditional Thai places. One minor come complaint we had was the terribly loud landline phone on the hostess stand near our table. It was positioned right next to our ears and rang constantly! It was pretty distracting.

Ordered delivery… Pad thai with shrimp(spicy) and red curry with chicken(spicy)…both were quite good… The spiciness level was about a 6. It doesn’t make your mouth burn, but you notice that there is a little bit of heat. Food was fresh and non-greasy. I would order again.

Thai restaurants are plentiful — except in Russian Hill. Previously, there was a Thai restaurant On Broadway & Polk that was my favorite but it closed due to an extreme rent increase ;( Lemongrass has a lock down on Thai cuisine in the area because that closure. I had the Lemongrass Special Noodle Soup tonight. The top of the bowl has a lot of the seafood strewn across it(shrimp, calamari, fish cake). I found there was not enough soup(which I was looking forward to because of the chilly temps outside). The calamari pieces were really hard & overcooked. As I said the taste was okay. The service also was just okay. The servers don’t ask you if you are okay and tend to leave you alone with the food unless they see you ordering a lot. If you’re in this ‘hood and you’re craving Thai, sure give this place a try.

Solid Thai food. All the curries and things you would expect. Prawn pumpkin curry is A-mazing!!! Get it. Ask for«spicy» and you’ll be happy! Kind service. No trendy décor but definitely worth stopping by if in the area.
