My boyfriend introduced me to this place because I was craving pupusas for the longest and they definitely fulfilled my cravings!(: I’ve also tried their Salvadorian style tamales and they’re soooo good too! The service is okay, could be better because they don’t come to the tables & help the to-go orders first but I love their food!

This food is not bad but they bicker to much instead of helping the customers and because of that the food takes forever

This is my favorite restaurant for pupusas. I have tried their sopa de res(beef soup), fried plantains(maduros), fresco de ensalada(fruit cocktail drink) — all of these are very delicious. I call ahead to place my order over the phone for pick-up. They are also very accurate on the time when they say the order will be ready.

Decided to try this place because I was craving beef soup. So I called in an order to pick up. The soup was good with nice portions of beef. I was disappointed because it was not served the authentic Nicaraguan way with a side of rice and cebollita(spicy pickeled onions and carrots). Also ordered the Isleta special. It came with chancho frito, carne asada and pollo asado, gallo pinto, fried cheese and tajadas. I was looking forward to the chancho frito and sadly i was disappointed. It was not seasoned correctly with achiote and it came out dry. The carne asada was okay and the pollo asado was to salty. You can’t compare this plate to the Antojitos Las Tinajas serves. Wife ordered the Plato tipico Salvadoreño. The pupusas were greasy, the yuca frita was dry, the curtido was excessively spicy. The only highlight was the soup. The Isletas Special is not worth the $ 25. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because it was an order to go, but I doubt I’ll be back to dine in.

I got some food to go for the first time and have to say wow! The flavors were so delicious. Taste like home cooking. The portion size is good for the price. I would come back again and again it was that yummy

I would recommend this place, but TOGO. The food was ok. 7 sea soup was pretty good and a large size. It can feed two and has a lot of sea food. However it comes with two tortillas. If you want more the side comes with two and its $ 2. So $ 1 a tortilla, you might as well get a pupusa for $ 2. If you go with a party of five then they automatically charge you 15% tip and they DONOTTELLYOU. They add it up on the bill like a food item. Also, if you go with a baby like I did — they consider that a «person». So be ready to consider it a party of 5 if you have 4 adults and a baby! The service is horrible. I had to ask for utensils and they never asked if we needed anything. I had to hunt the lady down to get a refill in my water. The nachos are not good. They do not use real cheese. They use movie theater nacho cheese and serve it with stale, broken chips. I guess in all the soup was worth it, but to go and it’s $ 18.95.

There’s two reasons they get a bad review, one very over priced for Central American food in the Bayview, they charged $ 15.00 for a chicken soup, cmon seriously, and it only had one leg and a thigh. 2. Their food is so so, the Pupusas are okay but not worth the price, the soup was the worst I had ever tried at a Salvadorean joint. I stick with the Mission, plus there always rude and mad at the world here.

I’ve been passing up this place on my way home for years due to it’s location, folks hanging out on the street and usually no parking in front. However, last night it was parking right in front and no one who made me want to clutch my purse hanging around(I’m kidding, LOL). I ordered the chicken pupusas plate with rice and bean to go. Maaaaaannn, if my momma was there with me I would have slapped her… it was that good! I’m an too excited to have found this gem! I need to slap myself for waiting so long to go there. Can’t wait to try the rest of the food!

Gotta thank these hole in the walls for providing a needed change of pace! We came here last weekend because a good friend insisted that they had the best Huevos Rancheros. When my plate arrived, my first thought was, «this is huge!» The plate had beans, eggs, two long strips of plantain bananas, sour cream, and tortillas. The waitress explained to us that we were having a «Cuban» version of the dish and while it was pretty good, there’s just too much darn competition when it comes to latin food.(So yes, I’ve had better) You do get free chips and salsa here and if you’re anything like me, you will stuff yourself while waiting for your food to arrive. Oh and I have to mention the clean bathrooms! Gotta love that.

This was our first time here. My husband works nearby and we decided to check it out. The waitress was very nice. The chips and salsa were very good. We ordered our food — my kids got scrambled eggs with fries. I got the Baliadas and my husband the fried fish. We also ordered two pupusas. The place was not busy — only us and a few customers. Our food took forever to come out. My son’s plate came first, then mine which was weird because my kids ordered the same thing. My daughter’s food finally came unfortunately my husband’s food came half-way through our meal. If it was packed I could see but three customers including us is not what I call busy. Then finally our pupusas came. My dish was ok not great but def not bad. The kids plates were good(can’t really screw up scrambled eggs) the fries were good. The pupusas were horrible, the curtido tasted like cabbage that sat in Luke warm water — no flavor. My husband’s fried fish was good but every side that came with his meal was inedible. The rice was salty, the beans tasted like they came from a can and the salad tasted like it was sour. We were very disappointed. We will probably not go back — we really wanted to like this place. I have the place two stars one because the waitress was very nice and the second for the stuff we did like. But it’s not enough for us to want to come back.

First of all, salsa in paint buckets, un-refrigerated, and full of flies roaming around. Next, the place feels seedy and dirty, not a place where you feel comfortable to eat. My friends ordered the chicken and steak burritos. The chicken was canned chicken and was not fresh, and there were no remnants of steak anywhere. It was a pile of beans/“guacamole”/rice mush wrapped in a tortilla. Let’s say no one finished their meal. I ordered the super quesadilla, which was far from super. It had a pile of sour cream and«guacamole» that overwhelmed the dish. The chicken that came in the quesadilla was dark and did not look fresh. I took a few bites of the tortilla, and left the rest on the plate. None of us felt good after eating this restaurant and were glad to finally leave the place. Most of us felt sick after eating at this place and were worried about what would happen to us a few hours later. Additionally, a typical meal runs for about $ 10. You can definitely get a better meal for that elsewhere. 1⁄5!

This place is horrible, and the waitress waits for the Spanish drunks, intoxicated so she can overcharge them. The bathroom smells like Tenderloin in town and the kitchen walls are filled with dirt and oil. I walked out because its disgusting, low class. Come waist your money on trashy food or go to Mission for good clean authenticity food.

Their chicken soup is the ultimate comfort food– different than my Jewish grandmother’s but totally satisfying. The pupusas are just the right texture and heft. Theportions are enormous– for the price you can easily bring home leftovers. The atmosphere is nothing to write about– but who cares. I’ll definitely return.

In the neighborhood and wanted some authentic salvadorean food. The place has a moms kitchen feel and filled with a lot of people at lunch and dinner. The food was delicious and I would return. The pupusas were very filling and not greasy at all like other places. I will return because the steak plates look good. The juices were fresh and the tasty. I took one to go also.

Not the best Salvadorian place to eat at. They charge a lot for any additions. I only go here if I’m really hungry and don’t feel like driving far as I live a few blocks away. The restaurant doesn’t seem very clean and the customer service is awful.

Pop quiz. Given by Dennis Hopper: Given by me: What’s in the pupusas? Can you get one without cheese? Do you have black beans? What’s so special about chicken? Keanu Reeves saved the day. So did the great Isletas staff. And the chicken. Didn’t really enjoy the zucchini pupusa. 90⁄10 split in favor of cheese. Wish this gooey and greasy mess were the other way around. Then came the chicken burrito. Refried beans and flour tortillas are the only option. Paired with their outstanding shredded chicken there need be no other option. Grand total was $ 9 and change for the pair. Would pay that just for the burrito.

It’s good food at a cheap price. I mostly order pupusas because they are one of my favorite comfort foods. It’s a little bit of a wait because they grill ‘em up but they are totally worth the wait. In the meantime I often watch futbol or novelas on mute while the jukebox plays. This place is never crowded. The women who run the place are nice and are generous with the curtido(my favorite part of pupusas).
