We went with a friend from Massachusetts in town for one night. We chose because of a friend’s recommendation and Unilocal’s. We were very pleased with the service, wine and delicious food and dessert. Nice to have a very good restaurant right next to 18th& Castro!

Went for brunch on a Saturday. The lark burger was great. The omelette was only OK.

This is a really cute, small spot in the Castro. Love that they take reservations, and the service was solid. In regards to food, everything was good. The cheese plate was tasty, the truffle fries were really good and the olives were nice. The only downside for me was the butternut squash filled gnocchi. I didn’t taste the squash, I believe this was due to the overwhelming taste of pepper. I pretty much only tastes pepper. A tad disappointing for an $ 18 dollar dish. I’d for sure come back. Again, great service and good food(decent vegetarian options). They also have a decent beer selection and a lot of nice wine.

Not that I had particularly high expectations, but they certainly disappointed. They were out of lamb, which is a feature of the menu and something they didn’t let us know until we had all placed our orders. The food overall was average at best. I had the Lark Burger which passable from a flavor perspective, but not great on presentation. I’d expect more from a burger that bears the name of the restaurant. All in all a disappointing experience; we skipped dessert and moved on. I don’t plan to return.

Decent Option. This place was pretty good. We got some burrata and humus and eats after hanging out at a few other places. The food was ok, but a little more pricey. The atmosphere was good — nice and cosy, intimate but not too small or cramped. It feels clean and cool. Service was a touch on the stuffy side, but that happens.

Went here for the mimosa brunch and loved the food. I ordered a beautiful salmon benedict which was perfect. And the side of potatoes were perfectly done. We shared an order of the rich and perfect french toast. The mimosas were fine. Would normally give a 4-star but the service was really aloof. The main guy was outside on his phone talking for half of the time on multiple occasions, pacing around on important conversations and then texting when back behind the bar, and the only other server/bartender was left to deal with all of the tables. Didn’t get much recognition as guests, little eye contact, and I bet if they saw us 15 minutes later they wouldn’t know they just served us.

The appetizers was decent, but how do you serve a scoop of goat cheese with 2 crispy slices of toast? The lamb skewers were superior. The eggplant was superior. Priced reasonably.

We had a delicious meal here! Sautééd calamari and hummus for an appetizer and shrimp for main dish. Everything was delicious and can’t wait to eat here again!

All I can say is wow. The food here is amazing. Every dish I have had was excellent, so far my favorite has been the chicken. As for appetizers, the lamb meatballs are good too. My only criticism has been the level of noise. Its hard to hear your friends talking, its just so loud, its like the voices are bouncing off the wall. Still, the food and service is excellent.

I love the look of this place. The space is very nice and the staff is super friendly… nice place to chill at a bar seat and eat. The food is good but a touch on the heavy side. Ok I did order meatballs, gnocchi, and a cheese plate… but I did share it with a friend. I might order one less thing next time… ya…definitely…

Pathetically run front of the house. We walked in on a slow evening with plenty of open tables. We left after the bartender said not once, not twice but three times that someone would be right with us and the host/server helped three parties that walked in behind us. Who needs this from a place that has burgers on the menu?

Lark is the best thing that’s popped up in the Castro in recent years… aside from you know, the other things that pop up in the Castro… I love the tiny spaces that serve as eateries on this block because so much charm & character goes into beautifying these tight spaces(yea…no gay pun there!) Case in point — the door that leads to nowhere, & the powder blue banquette. We ordered: – I don’t know the official name for this small dish, but their roasted eggplant, sun dried tomato, spinach, & Greek yogurt spread(served cold) was delicious. Crostini were a bit hard; served with good-quality crackers would be better. – baked salmon: he noted they went overboard with the mustard dill sauce, but otherwise satisfactory. – butternut squash-filled gnocchi: he said they were pasty & difficult to swallow; I beg to differ. I thought these balls, sprinkled with nuts(I’m on a roll here), were soft & delicate. Sweetness of the figs totally breaks up the monotony of the gnocchi’s mild taste. Despite a couple textural blunders, I look forward to trying more items here because the flavors were spot on. Castro’s restaurant scene just got a little more interesting, thanks to Lark’s existence.

Fun. Loud. Gay. LOUD. I liked every food I ordered. But what I liked even better Was the service — they went Above & beyond to remake Lemonade, despite having Run out of lemons, sugar, And /or water. #cadrought

Wow, what a great new addition. Just when you thought there couldn’t be any other twist on a tapas joint, Lark breaks through and delivers. Come check this place out before word gets out. We started with the Pistachio Goat Cheese with roasted Oregon hazelnut, dried fig, caramelized onions and honey. Shazam. This was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. The pistachio crumbles encrust the molten goat cheese and the trimmings just put this dish on the moon, unbelievable. The greek Salad with feta cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, sumac, fresh oregano and greek olives, dressed in olive oil and squeezed fresh lemon was very good but not on the same plane as the pistachio goat cheese. The feta was hella fresh though, really tasty. There were burly dudes sitting next to us and they all had the burger. I asked if it was as good as described and they all said yes without a doubt. I had to try it. And it was pretty damn good: house-ground lamb, burrata and oregano, house aioli spread served with fries. A new burger on the scene, y’all. Not on Marlowe level but a contender. My wife’s gnocchi filled with butternut squash and finished with roasted Oregon hazelnut, dried fig and sage butter sauce was good but not great. It was just a bit dry and needed some more butter/oil, that’s all. Great service as well, friendly and fast. Really can’t wait to return here.

Pistachio-crusted goat cheese?’ 5 stars. Gwow. My mauf is still recovering. Greek salad? Fresh feta is my ish. The rest of the salad? Meh, a little underwhelming. For my entrée I had the butternut squash-filled gnocchi: toasted Oregon hazelnuts, sage butter, figs. So much potential, but a little dry. It needed more sage butter. I sprinkled it with shaved Parmesan and it greatly improved. I’d go back, try more stuff on the menu… and that pistachio-crusted cheez:) That cheez alone is worth another visit.

What? When did this spot pop up? I don’t even know what was here before but I’m totally digging this place. A super laid-back spot for drinks and good-ass bites. Strolled in here the other night to meet a friend for some late-ish(like 9pm) eats. Let’s just say, I’d come here any night over neighboring restaurant Beso. Oh kaay! I had the hummus and pita bread plus the Roka Salad. Both hit the spot! Not to mention, we sat the bar and service was on point. The only reason that I’m not dishing the five just yet is that I just didn’t try enough from the menu. You better believe that when I return, I’ll be all about those truffle french fries, buratta and gnocchi-filled butternut squash… and maybe a glass of wine ;) Just a couple of things to note: 1. Street parking is a little tough in the Castro 2. Ambiance is pretty casual and I like this spot for happy hour or a casual neighborhood dinner. And that’s all I have to say for now ;)

New restaurant on the block? Heck yes! Not that I’m tired of eating at Poesia. This American/Mediterranean place has nailed the basics from their service to their food. I couldn’t even tell that it had just opened… which should be a standard anyways. It’s hilarious that my friends and I came here for the first time and ran into some other friends who were also trying out this new eatery! AWESOME. We started our meal with one of the many small plates that caught my eye… the Butterflied Tiger Prawns($ 11) sauteed in garlic, brussel sprouts, kalamata olives, and some house red sauce. There are four prawns(actually not very giant) and they were pretty good! To be honest, I loved the brussel sprouts way more than the prawns, though. For the entrées, we ordered the following: * Gnocchi-Filled Butternut Squash($ 16) — With roasted hazelnut, dried fig, and sage butter sauce. I’m not a huge fan of gnocchi but this was amazing! The gnocchi is a little dry, but nothing a little white wine won’t wash down. The combination of gnocchi and figs is unexpectedly phenomenal. You have to eat them together. I would definitely order this again and recommend it to others. * Lamb Skewers($ 17) — They really know how to make skewers look presentable and not skimpy at all. The lamb chunks are huge and grilled on the skewer next to marinated bell peppers and onions. The flavor of the lamb was not my favorite, but this will certainly please most lamb-lovers! * Kotópoulo($ 16) — Roasted boneless half-chicken with oregano, lemon, and olive oil — I had a bite of the chicken, which everyone agreed is SUPER juicy. That’s hard to find in many restaurants. Good, solid, flavorful chicken entrée. I didn’t get to try the vegetables, but there was a large variety. Lark is generous with their portions! For dessert, we concluded our meal with the Opera Cake($ 8) which is coffee mousse and two layers of chocolate ganache and seemed to be accompanied by some fig jam on the side. Delicious moist cake. Would highly recommend. Overall fantastic dining experience with fantastic company. Good job Lark at entering the scene as worthy competition. I can’t wait to see how awesome this restaurant will be in a few months!
