This place left me feeling uncomfortable. The service was okay, but as there was only one server, I can’t say much. I felt bad for him honestly because he was doing the job of at least two people. My boyfriend and I ordered the killer paella and the Baja fish tacos. Good thing our server forgot about our fries because we didn’t feel like eating anything else after the paella. It was not bad considering the size, but it was just way too salty to finish. And the Baja fish tacos were okay, they could’ve been better. Most definitely will not be back.

F_ck it, nasty food and terrible service. This place is not San Francisco caliber of any kind. It will be close soon.

This place is killer. I’m so funny. I highly recommend the signature«Killer Shrimp.» We paid $ 2 to get ours without the shell, which was a nice convenience. The shrimp is spicy but not just hot for the sake of being hot. The spice combination is also delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. My only nit pick is that a San Francisco restaurant should have better bread. It was fine, don’t get me wrong, but in S.F. it should be amazing.

Every time I have walked by Killer Shrimp it always had seemed empty but I tried it on a Friday night and the place was relatively full. The menu is pretty specific so if you are not a seafood fan or like shrimp, the name is pretty telling in what they have to offer. We tried the Baja fish tacos, killer chicken tenders, and house cut fries — really trying to be healthy but this was the mood we were in! I thought the tacos were good not great. House cut fries were obviously delicious cause they are fries– but I would say they were exceptionally tasty. And the killer chicken tenders were exactly the bar food we were craving — perfectly lathered in buffalo sauce. I feel like this could be a great bar for grabbing a few beers and watching a game… I’m keeping my hopes up that this doesn’t flop like taps which preceded it– thought that was ideal but then poof they were gone.

Their calamari was on hit and hanger steak was on point. Before I came here the bartender at Cabin Bar & Lounge, Rebecca, recommended this place and she was so right about this place. Good customer service and the place is clean especially the bathroom is a must. We are definitely coming here. New go to spot on our list…

Short story: seafood galore! Long story: they had a week or two soft opening and I went during my lunch break. I told them I had an hour and would like my order in a fly. They have the best seafood mac I’ve had. Very cheesy, with bread crumbs at the top and at the bottom is lobster/crab mix. Really really good! Their portions are pretty big so one or two plates are good for two-three people. I’m pretty sad that they closed for lunch, because the only seafood I could get close by is Nicks Shrimp tacos next door. They have big tvs every where so I wouldn’t mind watching the Warriors game after work here(:

I was in the neighborhood today and wanted to taste something new. So I went on Unilocal and found this spot, not sure how long it’s been around but they are suppose to be known for their«killer shrimp» It consists of half pound of prawns in their family recipe broth. Comes spicy and unfortunately you can not request mild or what not due to the ingredients of the family recipe. I’m a spice lover so I didn’t mind. I ordered the killer shrimp, calamari and killer chicken tenders: The shrimp dish was okay, nothing to be excited for, I say it needed an extra flavor and good amount of salt for the broth. Don’t get me wrong it was a good dish but needed an extra kick. Calamari was perfect, good crisp and batter was not too thick or thin. Now for killer chicken tenders, I was expecting something different but came out as your everyday buffalo strips lol. Good thing it was on happy hour or I would of been more mad. The interior of this place is nice and comfortable. Bar is spacious, two sets of bar. Room is clean and nothing dirty, no excessive odor as well. My disappointment is the hospitality the servers gives, they were all grouped up in a corner just chit chatting away and no giving me and my company any attention only when we call for them, they didn’t give us any extra warm attention. I feel as if the hostess tonight gave us more attention tonight then the actual servers. Thank you to the host, never got her name. It is a good spot to grab a drink and watch the game, their happy hour menu is great for drinks, might return when I’m in the neighborhood again. Thanks

Great food, great staff, and the best bar-person; Kathleen, ever!!! Go here and fill up on a lobster macaroni(actually they use pasta shells) and cheese, baked in the oven to perfection, for $ 10. I mean come on! Is there a better deal in this neighborhood in very expensive San Francisco??? If so, I’d like to know about it, because I’ve lived two blocks from this restaurant for 23 years, and I don’t know of it’s equal for combination of quality, hospitality, quantity, and service excellence!

Sounded like it’s be good, but it didn’t play out that way… Environment: 4⁄5 Pretty comfortable surrounding. A bit dark, but modern and with lots of TVs playing sports games. Parking could take awhile during meal times, but it’s SF, so that’s nothing new. They have a genius device on the bathroom door that allows you to pull it open with your foot, so you don’t have to touch the door handle. Everyone should get on that. Food: 2⁄5 Their special, the killer shrimp($ 20 with rice), was disappointing. There were about 11 – 12 shrimp in a broth with a side of rice(which was recommended by my waitress) and bread. The broth lacked substance. There was a good amount of herbs and spices, but it still felt watery and had nothing but herbs and shrimp.(I don’t know why, but I expected some veggies or at least tomatoes?) At the bare minimum, the broth could be richer. I really had a problem with the rice though. It was unevenly cooked, with some of it being soft as it should be and others tasting overcooked and dry, almost as if it were leftover rice and microwaved. The fisherman’s stew($ 23) wasn’t too bad. The tomato soup tasted fantastic and the quantity of seafood was pretty good. Wasn’t quite cioppino, but similar. The rest of my party ordered the paella($ 20) and garlic shrimp noodles($ 19). Didn’t care for the paella much, but the noodles were pretty good. It made me regret not ordering that over the killer shrimp. Service: 4⁄5 Standard, not exceptional. Mom got annoyed that they handled bread with their bare hands, but having been eating out so much, that doesn’t surprise or bother me anymore. This’ll probably just be a one time thing. Just wasn’t that impressed. :(

Pretty happy that this place was just around the corner from our hotel. They have a great happy hour menu and its daily, so that’s even bigger plus. I’d definitely come back for happy hour drinks and appetizers if I was in the area again.

When is a TGI Friday’s not a TGI Friday’s? I believe I’ve found my answer in a place called Killer Shrimp. I probably should have gotten a clue from a restaurant that has«Killer» in its name. Jamie W. and I came here because I thought it would be reasonable to try a place that focused on one dish, and we noticed how popular it was when we walked by before. So let me tell you those are rather weak criteria for judging the quality of an operation. I had made a reservation, and once we entered, we were placed at a rather compact table for two(barely) in the middle of the floor while other more gregarious couples got far more space. The problematic service was just beginning. The menu was an unfocused, anything-you-want mélange that was too overwhelming upon first glance — steaks, pork chops, lobster rolls, mac n’ cheese, and oh yes, shrimp. We decided to start with the $ 10 Grilled Caesar Salad, which frankly looked a little tired on the plate where it went from charred to wilted in quick fashion. There were the requisite Parmesan cheese shavings and croutons but little else to make it memorable(photo: ). Jamie decided on the $ 15 Beer Battered Fish and Chips as his entrée which he deemed just OK as he received two fried Atlantic cod fillets served with fries and cole slaw(photo: ). The batter was sadly on the wet side from the taste I got. I decided I needed to try one of their Killer Shrimp specials and went with the $ 20 Killer Shrimp Pasta, which was a big bowl of their spicy broth, which they claim was simmered for ten hours, and at the bottom were the standard spaghetti noodles with perhaps a dozen large shrimp in the mix(photo: ). It comes with a huge basket of French baguette slices which were meant to be dunked into the broth(photo: ). I didn’t mind the flavors as much as the execution which to put it mildly was awkward. I felt like I needed a bib to avoid major splatter stains, and the especially slippery spaghetti was a particular hazard. I think I would have preferred the broth as a pure dipping sauce for the bread instead of entangled in the pasta. The shrimp itself was good gratefully as they had plenty of soaked-through meat. as a side, I thought we should try the $ 5 Killer Corn which meant I should try it since it wasn’t was one large ear that was grilled and covered with a coating of an especially salty cotija cheese(photo: ). It was again hard to eat without running into high spillage risk. It was probably a good thing we weren’t guzzling beer at the same time as we would have been all spicy broth and corn kernels on our shirts. Service was erratic and sloppy throughout though I kept reading that was part of the edgy image they’re trying to convey. We’re on Russian Hill for Pete’s sake so how edgy could you possibly be? FOOD — 2.5 stars… shrimp is not really killer, more like a first-time misdemeanor with charges likely to be dropped AMBIANCE — 2 stars… big bar scene, spacious except for our little table, Hendrix and Joplin on the wall but not on the speakers SERVICE — 2 stars… frankly their single weakest area… edgy and indifferent are not synonymous TOTAL — 2 stars… this TGI Friday’s knockoff should have stayed in SoCal

Killer? Not sure about that. This is prime real estate folks, not sure why we couldn’t come up with something a little more creative to replace TAPS, which was equally underwhelming in my opinion. I’d never heard of it, but my fiancée claims this place is a chain… a chain?! Sigh. Giving the benefit of the doubt, we stopped in on a Thursday night. Not surprisingly, there were plenty of open seats. Menu was what you’d expect. A plethora of shrimp entrée varieties and other seafood based dishes. Nothing wrong there. Service was also pleasantly surprising. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and deserves more than the 2-stars above for his own taking. What fell short for me, plain and simple, was the food and ambiance. Mostly the food. I had the paella which was nothing but hot. Seriously, couldn’t get over the heat. Beyond that, no flavor whatsoever. My date had the fish and chips. No complaints, but he wasn’t exactly singing praises. I would have loved to see them do a little something with the interior. Same exact set-up, décor, even table arrangements as TAPS. Sad to say, but I don’t see this place lasting too long. Again, I can think of a million businesses that would jump to end up in this spot.

After seeing friends in Southern California rave about this place I decided that I had to try it while in San Francisco last weekend. Wow wow wow am I glad that I did. This place is awesome. We were here on a Saturday afternoon around 5:00. We went at the time for the happy hour but ended up getting items that weren’t even on the happy hour menu. We were greeted and seated right away. Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly. We had a few different people help us out and every one of them gave awesome service. We chose the crab platter and the seafood paella. Both of the dishes were loaded with excellence and we were in heaven. The paella was so delicious. Next time I go back I will definitely reorder this dish. At first I gave my friend the«You are not ordering paella!» look but then ended up eating most of it. The crab platter was great. The only suggestion I have is to add some drawn butter to the menu. They didn’t have any but the server actually made some for me. Awesome service, great atmosphere! Can’t wait to come back!!!

What. A. Treat. :) Have been a fan of the original for quite some time. If you’re from LA or you’ve already had it, you know what I’m talking about. — if not, gotta try it. This place has a die hard cult-like following like no other. Love the décor and location.

This place is directly across the street from My friend’s apartment. We tried Taps, but it never took off and she didn’t like it so we only went there for the soft open, and never again. Now it is Killer Shrimp. She has been there before and liked it. It was her birthday and we were trying to go someplace close and casual on a Tuesday(my vote was for taco Tuesday next door, but it was HER birthday, and my vote didn’t count). I am NOT a seafood fan, and I am on this crazy no carb diet. I had looked at the menu online and figured I could get the salad with chicken in it. We get there and lo and behold the menu no longer has a few items on it — including the salad with the chicken, and the sloppy joe(which I was considering ordering minus the bread). Oh well, now I am going to get the spinach salad. All 3 if us ordered cocktails, 2 of the 3 come out and 1 of the 2 was incorrect — I ordered Citron in a martini glass cold. I got some vodka drink with cocktail onions(huh?) and some Ouzo flavoring. We asked for ice water — got 2 glasses of water. When I sent back the cocktail — I also asked for a big glass of ice and another water. I was skeptical, and concerned we were going down a 2 star review path. BUT — our waitress figured it all out — we got the right drink, the 3rd drink AND3 glasses of ice! Wahoo — major victory. I got the spinach salad — it was pretty good, lots of bacon. My man got the shrimp pasta… unfortunately his first shrimp had the long black poop line in it lingering —(he isn’t super hip to the ways of seafood) — so we instructed him to remove it. The rest of the shrimp were fine. The birthday girl had the sliders and a side fries. I had a bite, they were pretty good and greasy. French fries for me were just meh. Like Mcdonald’s style but not as good — however a big portion. They did bring us some pecan pie for the birthday girl with a candle — so super nice. This place is SOOOOLOUD you cannot even hear the person next to you, so if you don’t want to talk to someone over dinner — bring them here.

This was an interesting experience. The restaurant and staff is new, so I’m sure there is a learning curve happening. The previous restaurant was Taps, and the interior is a similar vibe and setup. We ordered a few drinks, the Sweet Potato fries, roasted Vegetables and the Killer Shrimp & Lobster. The vegetables tasted great, the fries were enough for at least 3 people, also good, yet I added salt. The Lobster and Shrimp was also tasty, but the entire loaf of bread at a table is a little excessive. Overall, I don’t think the food and atmosphere work great together. I’d have a tough time pushing this up to 4 or 5 stars at it’s price point.

Having been to the one in Marina Del Rey before I was very excited to try this location for lunch today. We had the Original Killer Shrimp that you peel yourself and it was delicious. The shrimp were quite large(around 13 pcs), tender and cooked just right for $ 18. The broth was spicy good, but not too much. We also had the wedge salad with crispy prosciutto, creamy blue cheese dressing and a side of the sweet potato fries. Both were great and the servings were generous. Those were the best, non greasy sweet potato fries ever! The French bread was just okay — on the soft side. A crusty sourdough bread(like Acme’s) would have been better in our opinion. Can’t wait to return on Mondays when the shrimp is just $ 10 all day! Our server Phil was very helpful and attentive. Great lunch and will definitely be returning soon!
