I remember how I found Dr. Yamamoto. I had just moved to the City after accepting a new job in the Bay Area and I needed a new Primary Care. I was working the Graveyard shift and caught a bad cold. I was staying with my uncle and aunt and 2 cousins and they complained about my coughing and were wondering if I was going to die at some point. At the encouragement of my aunt, I decided to find a new doctor. I went to Seton Medical Center; walked up to the information desk and asked if the hospital had a physician’s referral service. The volunteer running the desk asked«For what specialty?» I said«I need an Internal Medicine or General Practitioner.» She immediately replied, «You need to see Dr. Yamamoto, everyone sees Dr. Yamamoto, he’s the nicest doctor, you’ll like him.» That was referral enough for me and before I could ask, she handed me a piece of paper with his office address and telephone number. I called Dr. Yamamoto’s office and was able to get an appointment within the same week. I was very impressed he was able to see a new patient so quickly and my family was happy. I had a new doctor, I stopped coughing and I was going to live after all. Dr. Yamamoto is the absolute best. Even though he’s busy and has a full schedule, he still spends time with his patients. He really cares for us and treats us so well. He wakes up earlier than the crack of dawn(0400 hrs.), does his rounds, goes to his office and sees his patients. He squeezes in more patients as the day progresses and stays late to see them all. Then he starts in on charting, his mountain of messages and begins returning phone calls. He’s always so good about calling everyone back. I have been told by many friends and family members that I should change Primary Cares. Since I no longer live in the City, I should find another Primary Care closer to me. I have tried to explain changing Primary Cares is not an option. Dr. Yamamoto is one of a kind and totally irreplaceable. I would never ever consider changing. Our relationship is more than doctor-patient, he’s become family. I can talk to him, tell him what’s on my mind and he always offers great advice. He occasionally refers me to specialists and his referrals are to his colleagues at St. Mary’s or Seton. So, I know I’m getting the best care. My appointments are never serious, he’s very witty and he’ll say something funny and we’ll laugh and I’ll return the wit and we’ll sit there and laugh some more. Granted his office is no longer 1.4 miles away and is now 22 miles away, I still wouldn’t have it any other way. I will always be Dr. Yamamoto’s patient and have been for 22 years now and still counting.

Dr. Yamamoto is a wonderful doctor. He’s caring for my 94 yr old father and treats him like a regular guy & laughs at his goofy jokes. He also actually listens to and genuinely cares about his many patients. So lucky to have found Dr. Yamamoto.

if you have cancer, this is the doc for you.(not accepting anymore internal med patients) he wakes up earlier than the crack of dawn, does his rounds, goes to his office and starts on his mile high pile of messages. he is always putting more patients in during the day even though his sched is so tight, and stays soooo late seeing them and then doing the charting and answering even more phone calls. he always calls everyone back, and he treats his patients so well. he has a funky sense of humor but its hilarious. A+ guy, hes great. dr. yamamoto is the best.
