JV Skin and Beauty

Scheduled a facial with Jen, my first time. My skin has been plagued with dryness and melasma, dark spots/​patches. She recommended the brightener pigmentation facial. Appreciated that she took time with me; the products and application were excellent. Tonight I got ready to go out, put on my makeup and headed out the door. When I came home later on, I looked into the mirror and was surprised how fantastic my skin looked! It was luminous! And I’m not just saying that. A NOTICEABLE difference! I’m very pleased! This was my first time visiting and I loved it. At first I was a little confused as to where it was located, but one I found it I was as good as gold. I was able to make a last minute makeup appointment for a work holiday party and it was great. Jen educated me on the best products to use for my skin and constantly was checking in with me for my feedback (is this too little? Is this too much? Etc). I would definitely come back!

JV is passionate about skin care. This is a second career for JV. She used to work for an elite marketing firm but decided to change her career and follow her passion, which I really admire. She is one of the most professional people I have met when it comes to skincare. Her goal is to be your skin coach and help you cultivate the skin you have always dreamed of. Her method includes reminding us of some pretty obvious things that most of us busy people forget like drinking enough water, using sunscreen, exercising and managing stress in addition to the Dermalogica line which offers treatments and at home skin products for a variety of skin types. She really takes the time to understand your skin type and recommend a treatment and regimen for it. Her recommendations are helpful yet you will never feel pressured to purchase products. She put together a mini «skin boot camp» for me in preparation for my upcoming nuptials which included some at home products in addition to once monthly exfoliation/​blackhead treatments. She is also doing make up for the big day for myself, my sister and mother (I haven’t had my trial yet but I will be sure to write another review focusing on that afterwards!).
If you want to get your skin in shape for a special event or if you are just interested in cultivating healthier skin JV is the person for you!

JV really knows a lot about skin and health. I was breaking out on the right side of my face but not on my left. For the purposes of TMI, she explained why and I had no idea. Even for a mini treatment, JV was thorough and I felt like my face got ‘fixed’. Definitely go see her! and she uses Dermalogica — best stuff on earth for your face.

Disclaimer: Jen is an amazing running friend of mine. Having said that-​her biggest concern has always been-how’s my skin? Did I remember to use sun screen? I’m a guy. I don’t need to be worried about my skin right? Other runners who’ve seen Jen and who’ve had great experiences convinced me to book an appointment with her.
Jen never treated me like a friend. She treated me like a person in whom she took a personal interest. She asked about my skin goals (none, I’m admittedly clueless) then proceeded to explain why I, as a man and a runner, needed to take care of my skin. Then she talked about what I was currently using for soap/​shampoo/​/​lotion while educating me about how my skin benefit from better products.
As a professional Jen suggested various ways to care for my skin, introduced me to various products and left it up to me to decide if I wanted to buy.
Thanks to her I’ve found a new shaving cream, daily cleanser and sunblock I never would’ve used before meeting her.
Guys-​check her out. Jen will convince you to rethink your Walgreens variety shampoo/​shaving cream. Women-​send your guys. Jen will explain why your guys need to take care of their skin in a professional, friendly, non-​pushy manner. They’ll go back because Jen is a top notch professional who knows her stuff. She encourages you to use your regular product while introducing you to some possible new product ideas.

Jen Valdivia is an absolute professional. Because of her knowledge of skin and skin products, my usually dry, slightly reddish (and yes, aging!) skin is smoother, brighter and healthier looking than it has been in a while. She really takes the time to get to know your skin and listens to what you have to say about the products you currently use or have used in the past. She also does not pressure you into purchasing products. She suggests options for you, but you will never feel pressured to purchase. (nonetheless, I have purchased some of the products she has used and am totally satisfied).

If I were to dream up an ideal look for both my Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding this past October, it would be the reality that Jen Valdivia created for me, my Maid of Honor, and my Mother that weekend.
Jen went to several lengths to be as prepared as possible for my big weekend. This included a skincare assessment weeks before, as well as a complete color profile assessment that included a review of my attire, her inventory of supplies, etc. This thorough preparedness and strive for perfection is what makes Jen so successful.
One of the things that stood out to me most was how much Jen listened to what aspects of my desired «look» were important to me. In my case, as a fair-​skinned Irish woman, I asked that she help me create a daytime wedding look for me centered completely around bright red lipstick… this is NOT an easy task. She researched several colors, and brands and did a practice run in daylight until we found the «one». I didn’t even know if it was going to be possible, let alone look great and make me feel so confident and unique.
The night before for my Rehearsal Dinner, I asked her to switch gears completely and create a look around a dark blue dress with an intense focus on my eyes. I had multiple people tell me that they had never seen me look as beautiful as I did that night; needless to say, I will never forget how wonderful this made me feel.
I think if I were a celebrity, or someone who attended many galas, and weddings, I would hire this woman and never let her out of my sight! Some people like working with make up or believe they have an eye for it. Jen supersedes this; she not only has the natural ability, but she goes above and beyond to ensure the look she creates (with you) is simply perfect for you.
Jen is an amazingly talented individual and artist, and I owe a great part of my wedding weekend bliss to her; there is no price attached to making a bride under stress look and feel beautiful for her wedding. There is no doubt in my mind Jen will continue to have many more successes just like mine.
