I scored so big today on 2 adorable tops and 2 skirts that no one else in this city will have for under $ 20!!! I love this secret gem of a vintage clothing store. The proprietor, Heather, has great taste in the clothing stock for both guys and gals alike. They put on great gallery events too– had so much fun getting my butt sketched at the LEWD exhibit last weekend and the artwork and variety of artists represented was so great. Good positive vibes! Added bonus; Heather let me host an outdoor scary movie, Drive In style, on Halloween weekend last year. We did it out back on the shop’s spacious, Astro Turfed, patio all decked out for the best holiday of the year. Such a great space for parties, workshops, and exhibits and she’s totally open to most people who want to collaborate with her and put an event on there. Best kept secret in the Bayview and right off the K/T train!

Stopped in to Joy Gallery for an art show and had a great time at the opening. The owner and people attending the exhibition were friendly and welcoming. Looks to be an up and coming spot to see emerging art. Had a quick look at the vintage mens clothing and was surprised at the reasonable prices. All in, cool spot, hope to check it out again when back in town.

Joy Gallery has a lot of good clothing you ‘d find in any upscale vintage store, except at a fraction of the cost. This new store in the Bayview is truly a gem in the rough cuts of the city, and truly worth the extra effort to get there. Although it is a great vintage store, it truly aspires to be a legitimate art gallery. A recent visit to an opening was a really great experience. Not only was the artists exhibiting there truly contemporary and legit, the atmosphere was pretty hip and welcoming at the same time. As you go to the back, you enter a lit cozy patio area where they had tasty beverages, and hot dogs to boot! I will not miss out on the next show.

Joyful? Or joyfully scary? Both. Nearly bought a fugly sweater x shoes from the dozen-item men’s section. But that’s not what makes this place so fun. It’s the ghost stories. Voices & music from untenanted rooms, 35 cats on a roof, and a certain Mr. Scott. Tales to excite & fright in this cozy shop. Good local art on display, upcoming in-store events. Including ghost story night!
