Their baked porkchop over rice is horrendous. An indistinct orange sauce over a pair of admittedly tender porkchops. But the sauce doesn’t have flavor and the chops similarly have little flavor to them. Where are the tomatoes? Why are there a couple of peas, carrots, and mushrooms on top for no reason? It’s bland, there’s no salt, no seasoning. It’s soggy on top and dry rice on the bottom. Honestly, I’ve had better. :P

Cheap great Hong Kong style café. Haven’t been disappointed here yet and they even have breakfast food also. Along with breakfast, they also have a wide selection of Asian dishes. Good mix of appetizers and its relatively cheap also. Food quality was average but for some reason food always comes out super quick. Good portion sizes also and a good spot for those craving Asian food.

3.5 stars. Went here for breakfast and ordered a pancake but it was burnt and undercooked! Overall everything is good!

This was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. My sister and I are now physically ill on three unfinished dishes.

TOTALLYDECENT! We walked over for some breakfast… no jook… don’t know why I was expecting that. We had their wonton combo soup(thought it came with noodles) but that’s ok still filling! Not super flavorful, but not just soy sauce ya know? We had their minced beef and egg over rice. My hubbie always craves this but we never find a decent one… well we totally found it here! It was more yummy than decent… especially with their chili paste that they have on the tables… MSG? probably. who cares. Very clean, waitress was attentive enough… we’ll be back!

WARNING: DONOTEATHERE!!! From one Unilocaler to another, trust me, this place should go out of business. My boyfriend’s family has been coming here for years and so when me and him were in town to visit his mom we decided to all go here for dinner. We ordered beef chow fun among other things and the waitress took our orders, went into the kitchen, and came out to tell us that they were out of rice noodles. A little annoyed, I reluctantly ordered chicken chow mien(which was soupy btw, it’s not supposed to be soupy) off the menu and we continued on with our meal. As we were eating, this other family of 6 sat down and ordered a variety of dishes, including veggie chow fun. I overheard them and waited for their waiter to tell the family that they were out of rice noodles, but they didn’t. Just as we were about to pay our bill, out comes a steaming hot plate of veggie chow fun from the kitchen. You can probably imagine how angry I was at the sight of it. Congrats JoJo’s, my boyfriend didn’t tip for the first time in his life here. If it has been up to me, we would’ve caused a scene by complaining in front of all of their customers and forced them to take the substitute dish we ordered off our bill entirely. Discrimination isn’t cool. We won’t be back.

I came across this place in search of some soup to try. The list of soups was plenty and I chose the won ton chicken soup, from the first taste it was exactly what I was looking for. The portion was a good size and the service was also good. The restaurant was on the smaller side and all the tables were full during lunchtime but not a problem. The food was good and next time I’m going to try the wings!

Mediocre food. Typically fast food chinese restaurant. The drink I ordered(red bean ice) was just horrible. Watered down too much and the beans were at least a few days old.

Stumbled upon Jo Jo’s while waiting for my mom, who was having an acupuncture treatment nearby. Since the Warriors and Cavs were playing game 3 and Jo Jo’s TV was already tuned to the right channel, it was a win-win. I’d read another Unilocaler say that the salt and pepper chicken wings were tasty, so there were already a few good reasons to check out Jo Jo’s. Surprise! The food was very good and had a home-cooked quality to it. The cook has a light hand with cooking oil, and you can ask that they leave out the MSG. I ordered the chicken wings, of course, scallop and egg white fried rice and mixed vegetables. While I still had food to take home, I placed a couple more orders of to-go food(Singapore rice noodles and bitter melon and beef). Also very good and no MSG coma as requested. Thank you! The workers were also friendly. I’ll return!

I’m not quite sure in the value of eating instant noodles for breakfast, especially for $ 5. Easily something I could whip up at home for less than two dollars. The milk tea was far too bitter and contained a heavy amount of creamer. The service is that of your typical Chinese restaurant… A little bit rude/abrupt.

Really delicious and cheap breakfast spot. From 8AM on weekdays and weekends they have a $ 5 – 6 breakfast menu, ranging from American breakfasts(eggs and ham), Chinese(soup), and fusion(ramen with egg). I had the Hong Kong style pork chop in macaroni soup, which was one of my favorite dishes as a kid growing up. The soup was good and the meat was grilled nicely. In addition to food, the meal comes with coffee or hot Hong Kong Milk tea. The HK Milk tea was delicious! Definitely a spot to grab a quick and delicious breakfast.

My favorite«Cheap-pseudo-chinese-food-that’s-only-2-blocks-away» restaurant. Their orange chicken is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Unlike most cheap chinese places, it’s a whole chicken breast breaded and fried and the sauce is perfectly viscous and not overly sweet. Not random meat-like chunks covered in sticky orange goop like most places. Some of their other menu items leave a lot to be desired, though.

A small casual HK-style place which is pretty popular for cheeo food. Definitely come in the morning for their good deals. I came here for their tan-tan mein(is that how you spell it)! If you come before their lunch, it is definitely cheaper. I loved the flavor of the broth combined with meat, peanuts, veggies, and other stuff. If you get it during their breakfast deal it also comes with milk tea. Pretty good and cheap with friendly waitresses.

3.5 stars –I love coming here for cheap, good, big portioned food. Most dishes here are under $ 8, and I can rarely finish one order myself. I always share with a friend. The menu has soo many choices to choose from, so good luck deciding! Also, American breakfast is served all day! Pancakes, eggs, sausages 24⁄7. I have tried and can vouch for the beef chow fun, seafood pan fried noodles, egg foo yung, and fried rice dishes. All of these are definitely two person portions in my opinion. **The house special chicken wings taste comparable to San Tung’s wings! $ 5.50 for 6 pieces. They definitely fixed my craving today.** Don’t expect amazing service, just enjoy the good cheap food. And, cash only for meals under $ 15, otherwise there is a card charge.

JoJo’s Café is a nice Chinese American styled diner. They have excellent service and are friendly. The food is reasonably priced and portions are fair. I’m not sure if there’s any trademark«go to» dish here, so it’s, to me, one of those steady reliable places to eat. I had the pork in macaroni soup, which was good, similar to chicken noodle broth, but with elbow macaroni pasta instead of noodles and pork slices instead of chicken. It was under $ 5 for their breakfast special. Interestingly, we were able to order some fresh home(restaurant) made gravy here at $ 3 per container, which helped our holiday meal we cooked at home(and forgot to make gravy for). It was savory, delicious and highly recommended(way better than anything canned, in a jar or those powder mixes you get at the market). Parking is fairly easy in the area, but the area itself can be a bit sketchy, but not overtly dangerous. It’s the Ingleside.

My craving for Hong Kong cafes have brought me to Jojo’s. I’ve always wanted to try this place out since a few of my friends mentioned this place s couple of times. When you walk in, it’s like your typical Chinese café. Long menus with café style drinks like coffee and milk tea. Most of the dishes are pretty cheap, but the plate size reflects the price. I had a sesame chicken rice plate whereas my girlfriend got a baked steak with rice. We also order the special Jojo wings and a watermelon slush. If you think you’re going to receive your appetizers first before your entrees, think again. I got my rice plate first, then the steak and then finally the wings. Not sure how that worked out in the kitchen. Not only that, but they also forgot to give us out watermelon slush. Disappointing. The sesame chicken plate was alright. The chicken tasted exactly the way I wanted, but they could really add some more rice or take out some chicken because the ratios were also 1:1 and with seasame chicken being known for its thick sauce and saltiness, you need a small mountain of rice to go along with that. The steak didn’t really feel like a steak to me. Most of the fat was completely trimmed off and all that was left was what seemed to be a round cut. Seasoning was almost nonexistent and tasted really bland. What really threw me off a bit were the small nuggets of frozen veggies that you would find in a frozen bag of vegetable medley sprinkled on top of the steak and rice. Really out of place and added literally nothing to the dish. The Portuguese sauce and the rice underneath tasted really good though. The Jojo wings were pretty good! Nothing really bad I can say about these other than I wish these came first instead of my entrees. Really nice sweet and spicy kick to the sauce. The bill came and they charged me for the absent watermelon slush. After a quick correction, the total for two people with a good amount of food for each was quite reasonable. I’ll definitely be coming back, but perhaps with lower expectations.

I’m stuck between a 2 and a 3 stars for Jojo’s. I would seriously not come here unless I was in a hurry for a quick to go or a quick bite. A few qualms I have with this place… First off I got sick one time after having a seafood baked rice here when half way through I realized some of the squid was raw. A quick session with the stomach flu gave me a lean six pack. Don’t know if I should love them or hate them for that one. Second, I never understood why their chili oil sauce condiment is so obtrusively sweet. I thought that maybe another customer, a kid perhaps, put lots of sugar in there as a joke for the next person eating at that table which happened to be me. You ask why I thought that… For someone to even have that thought means they use to do it themselves. I use to put the salt into the sugar, the sugar into the salt, and wasabi posing as avocado into the california rolls at sushi buffets about 25 years ago. I’d get a kick out of it. Unfortunately, a childhood prank we can all laugh at wasn’t the situation here. I brought it to their attention and they traded it out for another. Same sweet chili sauce that could’ve easily passed for a very eccentric dessert. I guess the cook uses his chili oil sauce as a sweetener minus the spiciness because the kick is as nonexistent as a boxing match. Third, some of their servers have some real weird attitude problem. I’m chinese and yes our people are kind of rude to be honest, but they have an attitude that is beyond the norm. Not the entire staff is like that but it is surely notable enough to be mentioned here. Lastly, their food is way over priced for what you get. Their portions are relatively small by a chinese restaurant’s standards. Most of the time, their plates seem like they are half full… Maybe I’m a positive person… Some might argue their plates are half empty. Same difference. Very stingy with their dishes. I ordered wonton noodles for 5 bucks after tax and there were only 2… TWO! TWOWONTONS! Two sorry little ones at that. I caught myself literally chuckling as I stared down at my bowl of wonton noodles. Looks like something they would have The Count of Sesame Street eat just to teach the toddlers how to count to two. In The Counts iconic voice n laugh, «Ah there’s OOOOOONE!!! Theeeere’s TWOOOOOOO!!! THEEEERE’S TWOOOOOWONTONS!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!» I can forgive a $ 3.50 bowl of wonton noodles for their sorry portions of noodles and 2 wontons, but I cannot forgive a $ 5 one. Go to wonton house for a 6 dollar bowl with 6 large quality wontons and noodles, 10 wontons without noodles. You know what? I have to go with 2.5 stars but I’ll round up only because they have variety and the boss lady is super nice. She always puts on the football and basketball games for me when I go there as I order ahead and wait for Gigi M. to go on break from her job. That is definitely worth the half star.

Sometime a girl wants to eat breakfast food during lunch time. Jojo’s menu offers breakfast food all day! I ordered the pancake special. It came with 1 pancake, 2 sausages and 2 eggs for $ 5.70. For the price, the food is pretty much dirt cheap. I like to pour a lot of maple syrup on my pancake. To my surprise in my maple syrup container — 4 dead ants trickled down onto my pancake. I definitely lost my appetite and did not touch my pancake after that. Jojo’s café — I will never be back.

Pretty casual HK style bistro place. Decent amount of space inside, with pretty good HK food. I ordered the baked steak over rice – the plate was hot, which was nice, and the rice underneath was actually fried rice. The portions are just right – not too much but also not too little. The amount of sauce was also just right as well, which is usually hard to get right at most other restaurants. The only downside is I was sitting next to the door, which unfortunately had a couple of flies zooming around. It’s no big deal really – just a little annoying to have flies zooming behind you while you eat, but not a big deal. The menu they have is huge, with both HK style food items and Americanized chinese food as well. About half the people there order the usual Americanized food(e.g. fried rice) while the others ordered things like HK food like Spam on Ramen, so I would say this is a pretty safe place to bring your friends if you don’t know what kind of chinese food they prefer.
