RIP Jack’s.
I will never forget kareoke. I will never forget the time I asked for a knife and you gave me a butcher knife.
I hope the space is occupied with something that can live up with Jack’s legacy.

If you like dive bars and cajun food, this place is worth checking out.
Beer is sometimes flat, but the sandwiches are usually really good.
Blackened fish being my fave. Cover that bad boy in lemon and Crystal sauce and you are all set.
Their Red Beans and Rice are pretty good as well.

How I love dive bars. For those serious about getting your drink on in a little slightly seedy bar with awesome bartenders without burning through all of the cash in your wallet this is the place for you. I came here in the evening on a Sunday for a one off tech karaōke event and I wasn’t so impressed but my heavily tattooed heavy handed bartender quickly changed my mind about it. I am definitely making my way back next time I am in the area.

The food here just made me break out into a little happy dance at first bite.
We went to see a show at the Brava Theatre not too far away and had enough time to grab some food. Just happened upon this little gem and the rest is history. It was meant to be, love at first sight, all those things.
Actually it’s cozy and quaint. Small bar was good size to just pop in and make nice conversation while we waited. We learned the Chef was from NoLa and had spent his downtime in their kitchens. It tastes like it!
We need to go back the food and drinks were a great price and it was such a great find!

Seriously cheap drinks and full strong glasses. I have seen it crowded and it rocked. I liked it better semi empty and having better quality time with friends. The local neighborhood dive pup, it is a serious dive and needs an atmosphere boost. Yet the people make the place and it draws a good crowd. Pool table and Thursdays karaōke.

Come on Thursdays for karaōke with DJ Purple and his trusty saxophone! Last night, I drunkenly belted out Cee Lo Green’s «F*ck You» in front of a super ecstatic crowd. After a few drinks, everyone sounds on par with Whitney Houston.
Also, their weekend brunch features some Cajun soul food goodness. Oui!

I came here for lunch and ordered the Seafood Gumbo.
Now I’m not one to complain, but I’ll definitely NOT be back again. The soup had bones in it. Bones from what… I don’t know. I don’t want to know. All I know is that there is NOT suppose to be bones in a Seafood Gumbo.

My friends bought the living social certificate so that’s why we went there to try out the food!
They thought it’s a restaurant but it’s more like a bar with some tables. My friends were not as pleased as they were expecting a «nice» restaurant, and they then called it the hole in the wall!!! haha… but I have no problem with it.
I ordered the cajun pork chop which was actually pretty good. It looked dry on the outside, but the inside is still juicy and the seasoning is just perfect! That also comes with a side of some creamy corn which is not bad either.
Both of my friends have the fried seafood platter which they both liked with some sweet potato fries. I tried a couple pieces there were ok. The oyster was good but the shrimps were kind of tiny.
Service is good. I won’t go out of my way to eat there but if I am in the neighborhood again I will definitely try other Cajun things on the menu.

It’s a very silly bar. So silly that I saw a young woman do the entirety of Chingy’s Holidae Inn perfectly here.

Went here for a late lunch and had the red beans and shrimp&sausage plate with slaw… it was BOMB! I also sampled their fries (needed salt but that’s a good thing since most people like salt, but I am not one of them!) and catfish po boy which was yummy. The service was really good and the food was tasty… they earn a solid 4 stars. If I go back and its as good or better — 5 star review update coming…

Review for their Karaōke night (a while back)
One room filled with hipsters. Apparently, my jeans weren’t tight enough to get me love for my awesome rendition. I guess I have to sing Sir Mix a Lot, I like Big Butts or something.
Hipsters, go back to the suburbs where you came from lol.
Besides that, mic volume sucked and wasn’t adjusted accordingly. DJ, do your job.

I’m rating this place based on a single trip to their Thursday night karaōke. I had a ton of fun and the crowd was great. Mostly 20 somethings or early 30s, nice and personable and a good array of singers, from great to bad =)
One thing to note about this place though, they don’t serve food after 8pm. We arrived about 10 til 8 and they’d closed the kitchen. We went down the street for some alright thai food, but were disappointed in the experience a bit by that.
Place was pretty quiet till about 11pm when it really picked up. We arrived at 10 past 9, stayed till midnight and each member of the group got a chance to sing twice. Great times!

Was dragged here AFTER my last drink of the night. It was 1:30-ish and there wasn’t a soul in sight this early Saturday morning. Well, ‘cept for the guy smoking outside when we arrived, who ended up being the very cool bartender (Oscar) on the late shift. We discussed politics, kids, baseball, and sleep.
Which reminds me that instead of getting some, I ended up at El Farolito eating nachos, after which I had to steal the keys from my football-​player-​sized companion to avoid him driving home intoxicated.
Jack’s was the end to a superior night on the town.
P. S. The kitchen was closed but I will certainly return to try the fare.

I can’t believe it took me over three years to try Tasty’s Creole Cajun Kitchen at Jacks Club. I went there for brunch for the first time today and I am more than impressed; I am absolutely in love! I see a beautifully delicious friendship developing over the next couple of years, and I am still kicking myself in the ass for not having tried it sooner.
I have lived two blocks from Jacks Club for over three years, and truthfully I think I avoided going there because I thought it was just a little too stabby – and my misconception almost made me miss the best Creole and soul food in San Francisco.
In a neighborhood awash with almost nothing but Mexican fast-​food, Tasty’s is a breath of fresh, delicious, spicy deep-​fried air. Today I had the pork chop and eggs brunch special and I almost cried, realizing what I had been missing the last few years.
The fried chop was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the country sausage gravy that covered it… Hallelujah! I would take a bath in that stuff, so long as someone provided me with a spoon and a pile of biscuits and pork chops. If Tasty’s sausage gravy had a vagina, I would f*uck it. Seriously, it is that good.
As an added bonus, you get a free cocktail refill when you order a brunch special on Saturday or Sunday. I had two Bloody Marys that were spicy, flavorful and well-​balanced, and my wife had a couple Champagne Bellinis that were rather generously poured. So, we had two brunch entrees and four cocktails for less than $ 40.
I am so happy that I found you, Tasty’s at Jacks! The food is delicious, unique and inexpensive. Erma (the owner), was cooking and bartending, and she is super-​friendly and dedicated to her Creole cooking. I will be back and back often, and if you live in the ‘hood and you don’t give this place a chance, you damn well better regret it.

It was Thursday night… we were going to do karaōke at The Mint because its supposed to be all great and whatever, but they were pretty booked up so we went to Jack’s instead. BEST DECISION EVER.
The KJ was by far, the best I’ve ever seen. He plays saxaphone and harmonica to back you up (when appropriate) and sings background vocals as well.
The bar was quiet until we grabbed the mic and sang the first song a bit after 9pm. As soon as we did, everyone started getting into it. It was a GREAT crowd and the place filled up by 10 or so (and was JAMMED by 11). Everyone was singing along to every song. Some good singers, but no elitist douchebags, really fun supportive crowd.
I’m sad that I only discovered this place my last week in SF. Next time I’m in town I’ll be back. Fo. Sho.

A great dive bar. Thursday nights are the
! Features karaōke with practically any song you could ever think of. the man who puts it on plays saxophone along with your song! You also get plastic or blow up guitars to rock out with. Or your groupies can rock out with them. doesn’t get much better than that. Drinks are cheap and fun is in abundance. There’s a pool table in the back which is separate and far enough away from the singing area so you can play in peace. and the bathrooms are clean! big plus.
I’ve also been there on off days and it’s just really mellow and nice The bartenders are sweet and it’s family owned, which gives it a nice feel. And if you’re really lucky, you’ll get the pleasure of witnessing the many crackheads and drunks in there talking to themselves.
Last time there was man in there talking to himself, ordering PBR’s and asking the bartender what year the PBR was. Really classic stuff.
If you haven’t been, you need to GO!
OH yeah, and you can bring your dog. yay!

Great karaōke Bar, felt like I was in a movie really good vibe, everyone was really friendly and chilled out. It was like your at a wedding kind of excitement everyone is into the music and the beer is only $ 2 for a Pbr, what a deal… have fun check it out… thursdays…also the dj was on the saxophone for some of the solos in the karaōke songs way sweeet lively place full of energy…

This place rules so hard, at least on Thursday nights. Came here to play pool since every other place we saw was crowded with hipsters and bro dudes. It was a bit like culture shock stepping into the place, but in the best way possible. It was hot and sweaty with people jam-​packed onto the floor. I slowly made my way through the crowd to the bar and ordered a drink. Minus one star for having to wait so damn long with zero acknowledgment from those working, but my drink ended up being strong and not too expensive.
I found my companion amid the ruckus and he was already dancing to the music… see Thursday nights are karaōke nights with a really rad DJ dude who plays his saxophone along with the songs and even throws in back-​up vocals. And the karaōke itself? Amazing. I’ve never seen a more talented, enthusiastic group of performers. It’s almost as if they spend all week practicing and gearing up for this event. And with the performers in the crowd on the dance floor, it makes for the ultimate bonding experience.
Anyway, great vibe and energy, and we didn’t even end up playing pool but had a fantastic time regardless! I’ll be back, Jack’s.

I went back on Saturday; this may turn into a Saturday habit, at about 1 PM this time. I was planning on just a beer and a sandwich but had such a good time I ended up staying for a couple hours. I would have stayed longer but I was supposed to meet some people at toronado.
It was a little quieter this time around; there was only one old timer at the bar and just a few other customers while I was there. I met the Saturday regular Tommy who not only does not have a computer but he prides himself on still using a rotary phone. Anita is a good bartender, very personable, I haven’t seen her in action when it was busy but for an afternoon bartender you can’t ask for more.

Goodness, I forgot what the real Nission is like. Not Casanova, not 500 Club (that place jumped the shark after they put in carpeting), certainly not Delirium or some other crap like that. Nope, the real deal is a place like Jack’s Club.
This is a bar’s bar. Nothing fancy, not even trying. Stiff drinks, honest pours by sweet ladies who are more like your (Mexican) mom, rather than a hot mama. It’s all in the neighborhood here: whether you’re a Mission hipster, Mexican dude living nearby, or passing troubadour, there’s a shared commonality in a cold beer.
There’s a pool room in back. There’s a jukebox (with its own stool for leisurely selection). And it’s not digital, so you’re stuck with the tunes, and that’s a good thing.
Order some New Orleans food from Yats’, located right on premises, and you might wonder why you ever have to leave.
