We had lunch here yesterday(Sunday) at the $ 10.99 buffet — great price and the food was really good. We only tried the vegetarian options but the selection was wide and everything tasted good and fresh. I’m a big fan of Indian food and so happy I found this place! The rice pudding was not thick enough but other than that everything was perfect. We’ll definitely come back.

Dinner Buffer $ 10.99 tonight would seem a good value, no? I have been doing the buffet here for as long as I can remember… 20 years? It has never been so unmotivated staff. No, even Unilocal warning that inspected rating. Eek! At 7:30 barely updated buffer. And, the single worst piece of Naan I had ever eaten. I could have made better Naan. Is this the end? A spiral to the bottom? Let’s see.

This was a great whole in the wall. The buffet was great and we don’t eat at buffets.

I actually really like this place, I found it walking by about 5 months ago. However on this last order the Pakora tastes like they powdered Hajmola on top! and the tikka masala tasted different… I also found after placing the order that this restaurant has a low health score. So I think I will be staying away from them for a bit and hope that they get better soon.

Nothing too special, pretty decent for a $ 10AYCE meal. Selections are okay and good tastes fine but nothing very unique. Wish there were more dessert type of options.

Ordered via the Caviar app / . Ordered 4 items, one was not sent correctly — we ordered lamb, a shrimp dish arrived. This was irritating enough as the intention was to have a relaxing ordered-in dinner, and our order was wrong. But, when I called back to have the right item sent, not only did they ask me if I wanted to pick it up(no, I ordered delivery for a reason), but then they said I should bring the shrimp down to the delivery person when he arrived… but 35 minutes later(the original order didn’t even take that long to arrive), I still had no lamb. I called back and cancelled the lamb, am stuck with shrimp I didn’t order almost an hour after I called about the mistake and told them to forget the whole thing — I’ll never order from there again. On top of that, the yellow rice was not evenly seasoned/yellow, and the chicken tikka masala was just okay. The chicken was kind of chalky. The sauce was fine, but nothing better than anything I’ve had from a million other places. Won’t ever order from here or dine here again. Poor initial service, poor follow-up service(a restaurant’s chance to make things right), and meh food anyway.

The food tasted«OK». There wasn’t anything special about it, it was slightly bland. Where was the masala? I don’t know. Maybe they make their food with little masala to cater to non-desi guests who can’t handle the traditional amount of masala in desi food. Also, the mango lassi was only«ok».

You guys, I can’t stress enough: I LOVE this place! I work on the street and it’s where my coworkers and I almost always eat. The buffet is always delicious and so cheap! 10⁄10 would recommend.

Came here for the first time because my stomach was craving for a buffet here in the city! You have a choice of buffet or order from the menu or both. I chose just the buffet since it’s a highly reasonable price: $ 11.95 plus tax per person. I don’t know why this place gets lower than a 5 star rating but I love their small choices of food at the bar. Mix up the rice and meaty sauce and you will be in paradise. It sure had my eyes rolling back. I love their rice pudding as well. I stuffed myself to the point my stomach was begging for me to stop and my legs just would not budge getting off the seat. The water given by the friendly waiter was absolutely clean, refreshing and crisp. This place also has a TV screen in case you get bored, but you will not be bored considering the tasty food at this place. It’s a very nice quiet ambience and I am glad I found this gem.

I stopped here on a whim… A Saturday afternoon on Fillmore tends to mean the restaurants are packed. I was in the mood for Indian cuisine and stopped in to try it. At $ 10.99 for a buffet can’t really lose. The ambience is not that appealing but the food is great. The Goat Curry was my favorite. Very flavorful. Everything else was satisfactory. I left full and satisfied with my decision to try this place. I would back to try it again. Pros: — Goat Curry –Chicken Masala –Price — Shredded Veggie Salad(not sure of correct name) Cons: –Not a fan of their Naan… a little chewy. –Ambience…really its the outside presence that isn’t inviting, inside is fine. –Service…Waiters could have been a bit more friendly. They just kind of motion to you or mumble and ask you if you want buffet or menu. None of the cons were a turn off from coming here again. Just stating them as facts. I would come here during my lunch break knowing that I can be in and out with my food. My money will go a long way if I’m really hungry. And no one will bother me or try to sell me on anything… the food speaks for itself.

I always have good luck when ordering from this spot. Food comes way before they say it will, and the Makhanwala(my butter chicken fix) is the JAM. Their naan is the best from any Indian I get delivered. YUMYUMYUM for the tum. They close early though, so sometimes I have to order from those other Indian places. Like right now, I am waiting over an hour for my food from that spot on O’Farrell, and they don’t even have Makhanwala. It’s got me thinking about India Palace, and writing this review at 2am.

Enjoyable Indian buffet for super cheap. Went for dinner twice on a trip to San Francisco and it’s one of the best bargains in the area. I found the food to be quite good especially the daal and chicken tikka. Interior is totally drab and staff is a little slow serving drinks but the food is very good and again, a great bargain.

I’ve come to this place a few times now, on the occasions where I want Indian food and to sample many dishes. I’ve always gone for the buffet. I think the biggest thing everyone must know about this place is you have to go when it’s most busy, which is as you guess, the peak meal hours. This is the only way to guarantee that everything be replenished regularly while you’re there. I have definitely gone later on post 7 pm and found that some things were not going to be refilled. I really can’t blame them as I’m sure a lot of food would get wasted but maybe make smaller batches/monitor more closely. The late diner should be able to eat the same thing the earlier diner ate. The wait staff is very behind the scenes only coming out sparingly to grab plates and if you’re lucky refill water. The buffet is always stocked with the exact same things each time I’ve been. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as there are quite a few items. My personal favorites are the garlic naan bread, the tikka masala, the tandoori chicken, the goat curry(spicy), the yellow vegetable dish with cheese and nuts and saag paneer. The chai is good too. Aside from what I like, there are appetizers, soup, salad, and desserts. Everything has always been warm/hot for me, never experienced any cold food there that shouldn’t have been cold. I think this is a great place for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Both types of eaters can easily get their fill and enjoy. Sometimes it can take what feels like years to get a check, even after requesting. I’m not sure if they expect people to walk up to the counter and pay or what but I think it’s pretty customary if you’re sitting folks down at tables as a waiter, then the check is expected to be brought to the table at the conclusion of the meal. At about 11 bucks a person it’s a good deal if you want to either sample a few dishes or just get your fill on Indian.

I came here on a weeknight and had their dinner buffet. It was around 7:30pm at the latest and the restaurant was empty except for me and one other person. PROS: — lots of vegetarian options CONS: — No real service to speak of — Food was on the lukewarm/almost cold side — Some of the item trays were empty and weren’t refilled throughout the entire time I was there — Bathroom was extremely dingy and disgusting At only $ 11, the buffet wasn’t expensive, but it was definitely not a good deal for the quality and freshness of food. I don’t think I would return.

Lamb Naan was not great. The meat looked like it was dyed to look pink and had blank spots on the bottom. They clearly need to clean their oven. Cheese naan was much better. It came in hot and cheesy. Not the best, but moderately good. Chai was somewhat watered down but still decent. It was served with soup spoon. :/ Lamb biryanis was great. Lam korma was basically sauce with 7 pcs of lamb. Mulligawtani soup was exactly what i was looking for. Service was slow and portions tiny. Overall a decent place for lunch but i wouldn’t bring a date here.

Review for the buffet dinner: Food: –a bit cold, not great flavor wise and I didn’t feel that the Chicken Tikka Masala or Palak Paneer(which had…2 cubes of cheese in the entire tray) were authentic. Pretty bland :( –Samosa had a thick unpleasant exterior, interior was alright. –naan was thin and tasted stale even though it was«fresh» –gulab jamun: tasted old with a rubbery texture :( –u p s i d e ! : –Chicken Tandoori had great flavor, very tender. –Veggie Pakora was good too without too much batter –sauces/chutneys: the better part of the meal –chai: good Service: –our«server«stared a lot and was a bit stern/rude when we asked questions. –definitely not a strongpoint at all. –owner?/cashier was polite though and let us split the check in four! thumbs up for that! Wouldn’t come back nor reccomend friends here even with the great«deal» with buffet in the evening. I would rather go to Chutneys(if you’re looking for cheap).
