Came to get a sandwich today near noon. It was closed yet Unilocal said it opened at 10 am. I asked a guy eating at the stall next door about it and he told me the guy at Ike’s had just closed it minutes before. No signage indicating it was closed for the day or will be back. Not how you should run a business.

They close their shop at random times with no notice. I called them literally 10 minutes prior to getting there, asking what time do they close and the person told me 7pm. But after I get there the employees have shut the store down and are just standing around chit chatting and they tell me they decided to close at 5 for finals week. Save the hassle and go to the mission location. The staff here isn’t reliable. The quality of sandwiches are better at that location also!

Messed up my order. I said no godfather sauce and got extra God father sauce. Usually I don’t write reviews no matter what but had to make an exception. These sandwiches are expensive so expect what I order. I basically just threw away fifteen dollars. I will never repeat. And I will do my best to discourage everyone I know from ever making the making the same mistake I made by ordering food from ikes.

Whats the point of letting ppl know that you open at 10am. When you never open at 10am! Nonetheless, bomb sandwiches. But really tho, I’ve been waiting…

The service here makes me want to drop kick a puppy, if you have 45mins to wait for half of a sandwich, this is your place

Not too bad. Plenty of vegan options which is why I always come back here. Lines are long during lunch hour but that is expected. Their hours are a bit mysterious. They close M-Th at 7p. But I stopped by on a Thursday one time around 6p and they were clearly closed.

Moral of the story: always check your food before you leave! The staffing issues are pretty bad and the automated online ordering is not realistic. My main issue is my order is always wrong. I get the Captain Kirk and it is always missing avocado. I always have to check my sandwich before I leave because it’s always missing. I don’t blame the staff at all because they’re always apologetic and put avocado on it when I bring it to their attention. This is purely Ike’s fault for understaffing this location and not training their employees. I ordered a Brutus today and it had no artichoke hearts. I ordered a Captain Kirk today and it had no avocado. I even wrote a note, «Please don’t forget the avocado. Thank you!» The third sandwich I ordered was the Paul Reubens which my roommate said was perfect.

Let me start off by saying that Ike’s has the best sandwiches in San Francisco, hands down. What makes me write this one-star review is the absurd level of aggravation I experience trying to purchase their food. Honestly, there are few examples of more inefficiently run businesses. I live 3 blocks away and I’m done ordering sandwiches from Ike’s, unless there’s a third-party(i.e. UberEats) who takes on that frustration for me. To make this review constructive, let me provide some examples of the ineptitude: — Phone number not working(goes straight to voicemail) — Phone frequently not picked up or put on hold for long period of time — All in-store purchases must be made through a single person taking orders(again, a need for an automated system to take orders) — Retrieving a sandwich is a shit show. There is no screen or list(public or private) showing the sandwiches that have been made. There is no system for announcing which sandwiches are made. — There aren’t even numbers associated with an order so you have a vague sense of when you’re up(seriously… deli’s have been doing this for DECADES)

The inconsistency here is ridiculous. Usually when I come here it’s been great, and this review would have been 5 stars. Recently however, whenever I get double meat on sandwich is seems that they skimp on the meat and just give me something closer to the normal amount of meat. What really annoyed me is when I went yesterday! I paid $ 8 for a half sandwich Willie Brown with extra meat. Not only was there barely any meat, but the sandwich was extremely tiny! I’ve gotten half sandwiches before but they were never this small. I ate this thing in a few bites… If I could figure out how to post a picture I would

Delicious sandwiches, but they’ve become a bit pricey now. It’s totally worth it along with the Groupon $ 17 deal. Try the«Hot Momma Huda» Pretty much every time I’ve gone, there are huge lines for placing the orders. To skip the line place your order via the Ike’s app and choose the desired time to collect your sandwich. Enjoy.

Terrible wait. Ordered at 11:50 for a 12:00pm pick up, wishing to pick up by 12:15. At 12:34, they said they have a problem with their system and have me to keep waiting. Come on, any one who stay in line got their order faster than me. Then why do you need this app and said pick by by twelve? So I end up received my order at 12:44, about 56 minutes wait for sandwiches. Their food is really great but I’m not coming back anymore.

Thanksgiving DInner Sandwich is to DIEFOR! I use the app to order and pay ahead of time so I can just skip the line and pick it up! Ikes was on food network multiple times and for a good reason! Ask about their secret menu as well!

This particular Ike’s place is located within the San Francisco State University Student Center. Contrary to what’s listed on Unilocal the location is actually open till 7 p.m. during the weekdays. Parking can be a little tough because it is located within the university but i was able to find a parking spot nearby. The sandwiches are amazing. I usually go with the spiffy tiffy with the dutch crunch bread. The chicken pesto and avocado really bring the sandwich together. Take a little heavy with their mayo so if you’re not a big fan, I would ask them to go easy. I would definitely call in advance or use the app to place your order, that way you can avoid the line and go straight to the pick up line.

Great place to get lunch. If you have a small appetite, don’t hesitate to share with a friend! Remember to check in to Unilocal for a free bag of chips!

Food is good, but the speed is absolutely terrible. I order my sandwiches through the app 30minutes before I am going to be there and more than 50% of the time in waiting another 10 minutes until it is ready. I suggest going here if you have time on your hands; if you’re in a rush, or expect it to be ready by the pick up time do NOT count it. Going down three stars because of extreme unreliability. The food is good but the entire experience is tarnished.

The avocado was not fresh(picture attached) Two stars for the good customer service. I most likely will not go back and spend $ 12 on another sandwich here.

Sandwiches in the basement? Sure, why not?!? «Super Mario,» you know it has to have meatballs. Or how about his brother«Luigi»(has jalapeño’s rather than mozzarella sticks, in addition to the meatballs). I’m always on the lookout for Ike’s special sandwiches and here their«Dallas SF»(green/red pesto, turkey, havarti cheese, bacon, and ranch) is one of my favorites. Oh, and«If I Were Cute.» It’s not just a saying that I joke to my friends about why I can’t gets date anymore, now it’s a sandwich.(Chicken, pesto, bacon, mozzarella sticks, cheddar, and bacon). So, yes Ike’s has a bunch of funny saying that may or may not apply to my life, but I love their sandwiches, and therefore it’s no surprise that I’m the Duke of this Ike’s too!

Sure, Ike’s makes a decent sandwich, but… if you’re in a rush, I don’t think this is worth waiting an hour for. I ordered a spiffy tiffy on dutch crunch bread. The bread was fresh and crunchy, the pesto, avocado, and mushroom fillings tasted decent… although I should have asked for the dirty sauce on the side(a sweet watered down version of BBQ sauce if you like that kind of thing). Staff seem friendly and hard working, but I have to question why it’s understaffed during the lunch hour. I was told it would take an hour, and it took ten minutes longer than that. They do give you your food with a sincere apology and caramel apple lollipop. I accepted the former and left the latter for someone who would actually want it. Nice touch though.

Dropped by Ike’s SF State location while here for an orientation and stood in line for a good 20 minutes before placing my order. Noticed that the staff of 4 workers were doing their best to keep up with the demands of a hungry lunch crowd. Placed my order and then waited another 15 minutes for my name to be called. Snagged a drink and some chips and was off to eat outside in the great outdoors. My sandwich was great, nice and hot and everything I could have asked for. They also tossed in a Caramel Apple Pop as they typically do at Ike’s locations. Won’t hesitate to come back but be prepared for the wait. Shout out to the guy taking the orders as he mentioned in passing that today was his birthday so Happy Birthday to you and all others on the 16th of June!

The sandwiches are a bit overpriced but don’t taste bad! I have tried the spiffy Tiffy and hot momma huda. Both taste good but for some reason their chicken is cold. You bite into a warm, soft bread and then get an unpleasant surprise-cold shredded chicken. The chicken in the spiffy Tiffy was kinda dry too but there was enough sauce in the hot momma huda sandwich to prevent any dryness– a bit too much franks buffalo sauce I’d say ‘cz it was way too hot. My mouth was on fire and if youbsaw me my ears were probably smoking too lol. Some sandwiches are halal and they are clearly indicated. Would recommend.
