Huahine Tattoo

Made it back to the city so Genevieve could add more of her beautiful work down my arm.
As usual, she went above & beyond what I was picturing in my mind. Her work is amazing. She does everything freehand first to make sure it all flows right. Therefore, each and every piece is one of a kind. That’s why it was so shocking to learn that some of her work was stolen and copied. Very disappointing and bad luck too!

I am so impressed with Genevieve’s work! I came to Genevieve with a tattoo of a beetle that I have had for about 5 years that needed some work. I had always wanted to add more detail to the tattoo, it was previously more of an outline of a beetle. Genevieve added beautiful colors, fine lines and shading to my tattoo and I must say it looks like a completely brand new tattoo. I could not be happier with the outcome, 6 months later the colors are still bold and the small details on the beetles wings look very delicate. Aside from the tattoo itself, Genevieve was friendly and made me feel at home. We chatted comfortably for the entire tattoo. I love that Genevieve is a classically trained artist. Rather than copying designs we had found in a book and online, she definitely put her own unique twist into the tattoo, which I think makes it that much more special! I will definitely be coming back to visit Genevieve the next time I want some new ink!

Having got first tattoo in the marquesas my expectations were high but they were met and exceeded!, can’t tell you how skilled Genevieve is. I was so happy that she had a real book on marquesas designs. She sat patiently with me and let me pick out each individual symbol I wanted. I can’t wait to start planning my next tattoo with her, truly beautiful work!

Thank you! First off I would like to mention that Genevieve (G) is not only an amazing Polynesian Tattoo artist but also an amazing artist in general which helped me choose her for my latest tat. G also has a background in art and I believe she has a degree from the Academy of Art in SF. She definitely has a artist view when coming up with something creative for her customers. She will also make you feel very comfortable and will accommodate you in any way.
I asked G to create a piece/​sleeve which included something from SF mixed with Polynesian/​Japanese/​Filipino and she came up with an original piece that blew me away. During my first session I ended up changing my tattoo to include something that symbolized my son and she thought of 2 Koi fish, one to symbolize me and the other my son both swimming in the bay. It turned out amazing and I love the artwork involved which I believe G could only come up with.

I was looking for a decorative, floral piece and with little more than that for a description, she drew up a design way more beautiful than I could have imagined or directed her to. I have been looking for a Polynesian style tattoo artist for almost 2 years. I had gotten one 9 years ago. I wanted my old one darkened and possibly a new one on my other shoulder. There really is only a handful of Polynesian tattoo artists in the Bay Area. To be honest, the artist’s work did not look authentic Polynesian. The tattoo I had done for me was from an artist from Tahiti so I had an idea of what a Polynesian style looked like. I did not see it with the artists here in the Bay.
I was about to give up and save up money to go to Tahiti to get the work done. By chance, I googled Polynesian tattoo/​San Francisco. I came across Genevieve’s website. Her work looked amazing. I emailed her with pictures of my tattoo to see if it could be done. She said yes. We agreed to meet for a consultation for darkening the old tattoo and getting some ideas for new ones. We met where she took notes on what I was looking for, and what I wanted represented in my tattoo. She showed me pictures of past work and magazines with Polynesian tattoos. I decided to go with her for the darkening. She also said she would send me some sketches of a tattoo based on the notes she took from me.
Through email she sent me some sketches and we agreed on a date.
Tattoo day:
Her location is very easy to get to from BART. When I got there, she showed me some more sketches and pictures which fit everything I mentioned in our first meeting. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get anything other than the darkening but after seeing what she came up with, I decided to get both done during the day.
I have uploaded the work she did for me. I cannot be happier with the job she has done. She really listens to what your vision of your tattoo will be and puts it into a design. It’s a sign of a great artist when the vision in your mind of what you want for a tattoo matches what she sketches.
