Who is Henry and what have they done with him? I have yet to confront the two hard-working Korean women about his apparent disappearance, but I suppose he could be somewhere behind the counter since this claustrophobic space at the vintage 111 Sutter building is packed to the brim with food, beverages and unrelated merchandise, so much so that I think I’ll just dart over from my building when the Big One hit since they’re so well stocked. Then again, it is one of a gazillion downtown Korean deli/mini-marts that prove to be convenient when I’m pressed for time between meetings. I have yet to try any of the hot Korean food yet though I’m sure of their $ 8.95 Bibimbap bowls is likely in my future. Instead I give them little challenge to their talents and order one of their bargain-priced sandwiches. The $ 5.50 Roast Beef is a favorite even if she has to get the Boar’s Head package from the refrigerated section(photo: ). Even better is the $ 5.50 Veggie Sandwich which has plenty of avocado, cheese and cucumber slices(photo: ). There’s no place to eat them in the store, so I usually stroll to the Galleria and grab a table. Perhaps I’ll run into my old pal Henry there.
