I went to this place a while ago. I was with my friends at Ocean Beach and some of them wanted to grab something to eat. My friend and I came here while everybody else went to some near by taqueria. It was really dark and there was only one other person sitting there. It was kind of creepy to say the least. The woman working there and the guy making the sushi were the nicest people ever though! I ordered the California Roll without mayo and my friend ordered this Chicken Teriyaki set that included rice, miso soup, and salad. I’m not sure if her order came with anything else. They served us hot tea while we waited for our order. I thought the prices were reasonable and the service was impeccable.

It is an okay place. I didn’t really like the price of it, but it was okay. I might go here again, but there are so many other sushi places on the street that I rather go to them first.

FYI, The place is closed! It looks like remodeling to something else. Good by Bang! See what’s coming for next. Hope no more pseudo sushi. We have enough of that shit, don’t we?

Just bumped this place up a star. The lady who served us last night was so nice. One of the people in my group wanted chicken karaage, but it wasn’t on the menu. He asked her about it and she had it made just for him. I tried some of it – probably the best I’ve had to date.

Delicious. All their rolls are delicious. Plus they always give you a little something before your food arrives. The first time I went, they gave me a small fruit platter. I forgot what they gave me the second time. The place doesn’t get very full, and I like most of the music they played. I haven’t tried anything except their rolls, so don’t rely on my 5-star review if you’re planning to order something other than sushi.

The food is good. The quality of sushi here is good. Creative dishes/rolls/sushi! Customer service is great, and they are not the fastest around here. Seating is simple – sushi bar and tables and chairs. Prices are decent… good for the quality!

5÷12÷2008 Still delicious. Been there several times already and they know my «usual». Can’t beat that. The lady discovered that I like kimchi and offered me a few samples of panchan that she made. Yum! This is like the down home place when they know their regulars. Quick note: they are closed on Wednesdays. — — — — Hwe dup bap. That’s why I eat at Hana Sushi Bang. They call it Korean chirashi but I like to think of it as poke on speed. The fish is fresh and the rice is warm like it’s supposed to be. The only other thing I’ve tried there is the agedashi tofu and it’s just so-so. Service is kind of slow but they are so nice that I don’t mind. I just know not to go there when I’m in a hurry.

Super super super nice staff. The nigiri was incredibly expensive, but the expensive rolls were incredibly huge, so… Everything we ended up with was really quite fresh, but the over inventiveness of some of the rolls leaves me feeling a little bit confused. Sushi with fried chicken on top in chipotle sauce? Really? That being said, its better quality fish for less of a price than most of the surrounding places except for Kitaro, which its a little bit more expensive than but 10 times fresher than(not to mention better prepared).

Hana Sushi Bang is right down the street from me. The reason why I’m giving it 3 stars is because the sushi is fresh and the service is great! The waitress was constantly refilling our tea. The only con is the décor is simple and the rolls are really small in comparison to neighborhood sushi places. However, it is clean, which is a plus. When I was there for dinner I started with miso soup and salad. The salad was very fresh. The waitress also brought us a complimentary appetizer, pickled cucumber, which was tasty. I shared two rolls with my boyfriend, the 911 roll(spicy hot!) and the 49er roll(salmon with a citrus zing!). The fish was fresh and delicious.

I found this restaurant on and wanted to try out a new sushi place. I went with my 3 friends and we were all pleasantly surprised. They gave us edamame, and individual salads with the meal, which is a big plus! We all ordered special sushi rolls to share. They were all pretty good. The rolls were a good size(not miniature like Sushi Rock! I could eat those in one bite!) The only bad thing is that the sushi rolls came out waaayyyy too slow. We ordered an appetizer and 5 rolls. First came the edamame and salads, one after another. Fifteen minutes later, the appetizer came out. We finished it and another fifteen minutes later, the first 2 rolls came out. Another fifteen minutes pass before we see the next 2 rolls. You get the point. Seriously, it took two hours for us to finish eating. The waitress was really nice but they really need to speed up their service. We were only one of two or three tables!

I went here with my brother and his wife last Monday, I said to my brother in a Beavis and Butthead voice” the restaurant is called BANG… haha thats cool”. My brother told me I was mentally retarded. I said your mom, he reminded me my mom was his mom. Anyways.Hana Sushi Bang is really good sushi. The fish is fresh. they have an assortment of really tasty specialty rolls, as well as typical faves. The service is super fast I think a superhuman is rolling those suckas im reading reviews and seeing this is owned by korean family, well if thats the case Korea is the future of sushi. ITSTHATGOOD! oishi oishi

Found out from A.R. that the Corcoro, a former fav had relocated here. Went last night & it’s been true for @ 5 months. The chef is former Corcoro & the menu is pretty much identical. So If you haven’t been here since 1⁄2007 It’s a different spot now & probably deserves a revisit. The saba/lemon sashimi pairing stands out. Really far out.

I have found a new favorite place for sushi. It used to be Cocoro, now its Hana Sushi Bang. Why you may ask? Well thats cuz they got one of the chefs from Cocoro! In addition to that, Sushi Bang has very fresh fish. The Saba is delectable. The Uni tastes extremely fresh. The YamaImo is great. The Abalone is very fresh too. Everything is delicious AND I am going back for the Live Crab Fridays! Also, take note, Sushi Bang has REALWASABI. This should be required in order to even qualify for 5 stars!

The chef here is extremely skillful and a very considerate guy. At many sushi places, the chefs either ignore you or are fake nice to get your money. Not here, this guy is legit. That said… The saba here was extremely good. The spicy chicken and rainbow rolls were both top notch. Tea here is fine, nothing special and nothing worth complaining about. Crab great. Uni tasty. Edamame fresh. Veggies very fresh. This place is a bit towards the more expensive side of things but I think it is generally worth it. The service, in the form of a pleasant smiling lady, can be a touch slow but I didn’t mind as I was at the bar and got things when I wanted. They bring out vegetables with a red bean dip that is pretty awesome, I love mixing up my sushi with fresh vegetables when possible. For cheaper stuff you can go elsewhere, but for fresh fish, good cuts, and an excellent chef you should check this place out. These people are very considerate and reward you for being loyal customers. Love it.

Let me start by saying this place just served the best saba I’ve ever had. It was fresh, moist, and not very oily. The Uni was also fresh, and tasted of the sea. I’ve developed a taste for maguro yama kake, which is made from Japanese mountain yam. Most of the dishes featured the mild onion found in Japanese food. We were also served carrots and cucumber with a spicy Korean red-bean sauce/dip. Additionally, they have a number of tasty sake options. Friday is the«live specials» night, and I’ll be back.

Thanks SFsurvey.Com for the gift certificate. Restaurant almost empty Tuesday @ noon. Service was sincere. The mature female server has rudimentary English skills. Giving an accurate order requires pointing at menu photos. I had the sashimi lunch. An act of faith as I got sick the past 2 times I ordered sashimi at other places. Starter salad: limp lettuce & ¼ flavorless grainy tomato. The miso soup was okay, not special. Moist Tempura shrimp appetizer was undercooked. Bambie had the«19th’s roll»: asparagus, tuna, shrimp, spicy red sauce. Completely forgettable. Sashimi dish was 12 pieces: maguro, salmon, halibut, red snapper, &1 chewy fin of something. Okay, not great. Drank weak green tea. Total bill was $ 31. This section of Geary is covered in Sushi places. Hana Bang runs with the pack for flavor, pricing, casual dining room ambience. The owner is young, he’s trying hard. Will the food improve & the place survive? Not a return place for me.

This might not be the fairest review since my nostrils were(and still is) plugged with 8 lbs of mucus and couldn’t taste nuthin. I got a $ 55 dinner for two prize voucher from sfsurvey so I quickly made use of it right away since it was within walking distance from my pad. Hana Sushi Bang is a Korean owned sushi joint, not that it matters, but you can always tell because friends of the chef are always sittin’ at the bar yappin away at most Korean sushi joint. The place was a near a full house when we got there. And the two of us quickly got seated at the bar, but was then moved to the side table by the back once the VIPs rolled in. We ordered: 1) Spicy sashimi salad Korean owned means that they take spicy seriously. A good salad, but I could eat it after awhile cuz my mouth was on fire. 2) Bang bang roll — eel, avocado wrapped around a cali roll Pretty good, but not wowed. 3) Sky roll — spicy scallop I expected this to be a spicy roll of the mashed up variety, so I didn’t like it that much cuz chunks of raw scallops ain’t always the greatest. 4) SF roll — eels, hamachi, vegetables Not bad, but tasted the same as the bang bang 5) Gyoza Pretty good, I can eat buckets of that. 6) Sunrise roll — salmon with quail egg with tobiko on top. I think they took this from Kabuto except they made it ginormous you can’t eat it without making a fat mess and an ass outta yourself. None of our stuff should come with soup and salad but I think we got some anyway cuz they know I am going to review them. Haha. I think they even turned up their service. All in all this place is OK. Food is no better than Kitaro but with steeper prices. The place feels kinda uncomfortable because of where we sat and the heat was on a little too high. Eeps.

The FOOD: — teriyaki tofu: soft, slightly crispy in the outside, not too sweet — sake nigiri: fresh, mouth-watering fish — chef’s special(shrimp tempura roll with various fish on top: salmon, maguro, unagi, albacore, hamachi): luke-warm, big slices of fish, flavorful sauce — negihama roll(hamachi with scallions): light fish that I can eat a lot of — maguro sashimi: my least favorite, would probably not get again. fish was fresh, but fatty and chewy COMPLIMENTARY and very delicious :-)! — tempura eggplant with mustard and salsa appetizer — hamachi roll — fruit platter with watermelon, grape and peeled orange slice OTHER: — miso soup is hot and garnished with pork rinds, very good — light soy sauce at every table(no preservatives), more restaurants should do this — extremely friendly staff and chefs; maybe too friendly(each waitresses and sushi chefs checked up on us every 10-minutes asking how the food was and if we needed anything else) BOTTOMLINE: Food was good, service was great, prices are reasonable and I will be back here again soon!

This place looked unpromising, but Hana Sushi Bang(not to be confused with Sushi Hana on Van Ness) filled my belly with a large, delicious lunch one Saturday. We came here around two in the afternoon, being somewhat hung over from a productive night at Mars Bar the evening prior. We had to wait a bit afer being seated, but then the server came by with menus and a free appetizer of tempura-battered tuna and eggplant, and we were off to a great start! A combo of chicken and salmon terriyaki in a bento box only cost eight dollars and hit the spot, along with piping-hot miso soup, and a substantial house salad. We also ordered the cherry blossom: salmon and avocado wrapped in rice and red tuna. Pretty good! Very, very filling over all; I could barely finish my lunch. And then the waitress brought us a fancy-looking desert plate of strawberries and orange slices. Wow… I’d say Hana Sushi Bang could very well put a dent in nearby Kitaro’s somewhat undeserved popularity.
