Thank god for the Hallowell Center. I’ll be upfront and say that I have extremely poorly managed ADHD, and for some reason, there is a huge lack of therapists who specialise in ADHD in the city(who knew?) So I constantly kept getting referrals to the Hallowell Center. Unfortunately, they do not take insurance and everything must be paid for out of pocket, but if I’m going to pay out of pocket for this ish, I may as well go to a practice that specialises in EXACTLY what I’m looking for, right? Yep. I’m glad I am spending my money on this place. It is located in one of those ‘rent an office’ suites, but the hours that the practitioners of Hallowell Center have are flexible, and always helpful. The therapist that I work with at Hallowell is wonderful, and always helpful. They have a psychiatrist on staff, as well as two therapists(one that works with children, primarily, I believe, and the other who works with adults– who I work with.) Because I’m spending my money out of pocket, I know I’m getting the help I need, and I’m glad that they specialise in ADHD, while also using other modalities of therapy(besides CBT, which really helps with the ADHD) to focus on things that are co-morbid with the ADHD. If you have ADHD, or know someone who has ADHD, or just want an empathetic, warm environment from a therapist, you’d do well at the Hallowell Center. I really enjoy my sessions here, and I feel like they’re helping a whole ton.
