Hair by Design

I just got my haircut by John yesterday. He’s a great guy.
I often hate every haircut I get, but I have no complaints. I have wavy hair that I make straight or curly. Its super thick, but he did a fantastic job of giving me a cut I can do both styles with.

I LOVE Renard! I randomly met Renard over a year ago at a restaurant and really enjoyed talking with him. It turned out that I was looking for a new hair stylist at the time and I figured, «why not!?» I had no idea what an incredible find I had come across. He is brilliant — really, I mean it. He is exceptionally well-​trained, a joy to spend some time with, and reasonably priced. I always leave loving my hair cut. Plus, he has been able to figure out how to cut my hair to deal with some quirks my hair has. I did not even realize that my hair could be cut in a way to deal with these things! Really, GO SEE RENARD!

I’ve been going here for over a year — TRACY has been a godsend to my medium brown hair that most stylists try to make super blonde.
She is, by far, the best colorist I have ever been to (both in Boston & SF, and I’ve been to many!) and always gives you the exact cut you ask for. She is always friendly, flexible with appointments and helpful when brainstorming for new hair ideas. AND she is the most affordable fabulous hairdresser EVER, never any surprises when paying. Does it get any better?!
As an FYI she recently opened her own salon down the street (Fillmore @ Filbert), which I will be following her to… I will update with the name.

I’ve been going to Tracy for years now and I have to say that she always delivers. She knows what she’s doing and she’s very good at fixing hair disasters, of which I’ve had a few. I’ve referred several friends to her and they’ve all become loyal clients. I fully recommend Tracy to anyone looking for stylish and maintainable hair that works with their natural hair’s tendencies and textures.

I just moved back from San Francisco after living in New York for three years. I had the most amazing hair stylist in NYC, and I was sad to leave because I didn’t know if I could find someone even comparable to me.
Thank god I found Bernard! He’s funny, honest and, best of all, he gives a great haircut. Almost everyone in my family has used him, and we’ve always been so happy with the results.

My Unilocal nickname should really be Sarah ‘hair salon whore’ B. That has been my rep for the past few years, give many a try… but move on looking for something better. I was referred to Tracy by a friend from work. I’m easy… I’ll give her a try. She actually listened to me, and while she might not have agreed w/​all my thoughts she presented great ideas for change w/​o being pushy, along w/​tips for styling. All this for only $ 55 and no salon attitude.
I’m smitten. Am I ready for a committed relationship? To be continued…

FINALLY, a hair stylist I love and trust! I was so nervous about finding a new hair stylist when I moved to the city because I loved mine from back home so much. I tried several mediocre facilities but just wasn’t Wowed. Then I was referred to Tracy at Hair by Design. She is fabulous! She talks with you, looks you over, and gives you suggestions on what would compliment your features. I had an urge to go short about 6 months ago and she was supportive, gave me a great cut but it just wasn’t quite me. When I came back the next time, I was afraid of hurting her feelings but she practically finished my sentence for me! She gave me a great cut with great color that I love! She’s honest, skilled, and such a sweetheart! She’s also great with trying to fit you in for appointments.
