I had the chicken gumbo for lunch today. Loved it. I picked up an olive roll from Acme bakery as a side treat! Delicious!!!

Legit chicken pot pie… Just what I was craving. Really good bang for the buck. I just wish they had a larger size option as well.

Greatest customer service of all time!!! I’ve drooled over this meat case in the past but being that I’m out of town made me hesitate actually buying anything, never again! We explained to the guy that helped us(I will forever regret not getting his name) that we wanted to buy some sausages but that we needed them to withstand the 8 hr road trip back home. Without out any hesitation he leaped to our rescue and offered to vacuum seal and freeze our order for us. We were so ecstatic that we went a little nuts and ordered one of everything! We then came back the next day to pick up our package and ordered some of their amazing cold cuts for the rode. We’re now back home, and our meat made it here without a glitch. This dude was so helpful and went well above and beyond his duties as a meat god that I need you all to visit this beautiful man and buy all this butcher shop has to offer.

Came here right as everything seemed to be closing down, but there wasn’t much of a wait here. Seems a little pricey, but considering the location it wasn’t too bad. We got some cured meat slices and a tub of duck fat for fries. Everything was pretty good. Guy seemed nice while helping us. I think we may not frequent this place because of where it’s at, but I’d stop by for a snack next time I’m on the pier!

Best BBQ pulled pork sandwich EVER. You will not be disappointed! The pulled pork is tender, savory and flavorful and the juices soak into the soft, fresh bread bun. Knocked one star off for the service. Not the friendliest people but the food is delish! Grab a pulled pork sandwich and enjoy it outside on one of the benches that looks out on the bay.

I just left golden gate meat company which I been coming to for years and when I asked for a sample from the deli before I purchased it they said only if you buy a pound of the product. RUDE! All deli’s allow you to sample the product– dean and dulica in Napa even allow it. How cheap of Golden Gate meat company.

Probably my favorite food place within the Ferry Building. It’s essentially meat haven. Buy your own meats to cook at home. Or… buy some lunch/dinner. The pot pies, spare ribs, sausages, and pulled pork are all viable options.

I’ve been hesitant to write a review for Golden Gate Meat Company because it’s difficult not to start the review off with out it sounding suspiciously inappropriate. Alas, it’s been too good to me over the years not to. So here goes. This is my favorite place to get my meat in the Bay Area(slight pause for comedic value) In all do respect to Lunardi’s in Pleasant Hill the meat selection is slightly better in my experience. The people who work the shop aren’t as aggressive in trying to help you which I like but when you do need it they are more than informative. Something that your run of the mill grocery store butcher isn’t. They’re passionate about their meats and it shows in the quality. Prices are pretty steep comparatively but you get what you pay for assuming you don’t screw it up in the cooking process. I think after writing this I’ll head in there today to pick up something for dinner. I suggest you do too.

We love this butcher — a former chef. He really knows his stuff. He’s a great resource for preparing any meat dish. We like to buy a flank steak here and have the butcher slice a pocket in it crosswise. Then we stuff it with herbed dressing. Yum! The quality of the meats here is excellent as well.

Best place to get a sandwich when everything else in the ferry building is packed. Custom sausages are fantastic and worth the price.

Their pot pie flakiness game is very strong. Turkey pot pie was bomb.

Bacon is good and worth the money. Can’t wait to try other things here. Service is friendly and fast.

I like coming to the Ferry Building for lunch because people can go buy whatever they like and then go grab a bench outside to eat together. This latest trip to the Ferry building I found myself here because the lines at some other places were just too crazy. I’ve been to Golden Gate Meat Co twice for lunch and I’ve enjoyed my meal both times. This time I went with the barbecue sandwich. It’s a rather simple sandwich. Barbecue pork on a loaf of bread. It was tasty meat but I think something else in the sandwich would be nice, maybe some coleslaw to give it a bit of freshness and acid. The other time I went here I got a lunch combo plate of meatloaf and mac n cheese. This was also simple but satisfying. Its not cheap but compared to other options in the area it’s reasonable. They are popular for their potpies and pastrami sandos so I’ll have to try them next time!

One bite into their piping hot beef pot pie, I spurted out«this is 5 stars!» BF looked at me with surprise since I never say that while eating LOL. For $ 7, I was hoping this is some darn good pot pie and I was wrong. This is the BESTMOSTFREAKINGAWESOME potpie I’ve ever devoured. The beef filling was perfectly seasoned, not too salty(hate that), thick creamy broth, delicious bites of veggies mixed in. The crust was flaky, hot, and stayed nonsoggy through out. I shared this with my BF and sis because I’m a good person even though the pot pie was a one person portion. We were going to eat lunch afterwards so I didn’t buy another one. I think I could easily eat two of these myself. The chicken pot pie is next on my list. I kind of want to drive to the Embarcadero right now and eat a pot pie. Damn you, work!

One of my favorite butcher shops in the city, Golden Gate Meat Company has a huge variety of both common and exotic cuts of meat ranging from quail to wild boar sausage to bison shoulder. I think they might even sell rabbit as well. You know they have a lot of options when they even have a gourmet butcher prepared dog food available. Also fantastic at this shop is their deli, which serves meats, sandwiches and pot pies, all of which are delicious. I had the beef pot pie yesterday and it was very flaky and had a tasty filling with big chunks of beef inside. They are located in the ferry building and share a hallway with hog island oyster company.

They are not lying when they call themselves a meat company. All their hot items is primarily meat. Although the items are on hot trays waiting to be served you can tell the products are freshly made and quality. The meatloaf comes in a generous portion and has a nice solid meat taste. You can tell the filler is limited here. Their pot pies are quite the delicious mix of puff pastry, gravy and you choice of beef or chicken. There are two things that I normally come here for, the first being their chili. It is a nice hearty beef and bean chili that has a bold flavor and a bit if kick. I add an extra kick with jalapeños they have as condiments. The other time is there sausage on a stick. I get it spicy. Have one for a snack or two for a meal! As with all places in the ferry building, it can be pricey. However, with the different options they have, it doesn’t have to be. two sausage on a stock will run you a bit over $ 5.

Came by here last Thursday after 2:30 pm with my husband while walking around the Ferry Building. We were hungry and decided to get one beef pot pie and one turkey pot pie. Total came out to $ 14.01. My husband really liked his beef pot pie. He liked that the flaky crust was not soggy even with the last bite. The beef pot pie was rather filling and a good size for one person. I have never been a fan of pot pies in general. But I thought the turkey pot pie was good(I am still on a quest to find the best pot pie I suppose). Just the beef pot pie, the crust did not go soggy and held up to the pie. I also liked that I could actually see and taste the chunks of turkey in this. I think the flavors were okay but would have preferred something a bit bolder. Overall, I think it was a fair price to pay for a late lunch, especially being in a tourist area. I would come back here again and would like to try one of their sandwiches next time. One thing I want to mention though is that we ended up eating at the one and only high top table right in front of the area to order cooked food(there is an area to purchase raw meat in their market area). People passing by were gawking at us and our food… I get that they are just browsing but it annoyed me that we were kind of on display(it’s kind of like hungry restaurant goers looking through the window at the poor person eating right in front). So if you end up buying any food here, wouldn’t recommend eating at that table too.

First off, I didn’t realize how HUGE these sandwiches were! One sandwich can easily feed 2 people. My hot pastrami sandwich was so good. The bread had a crunch to it and the pepper from the pastrami and the Dijon mustard was a great combo. My son enjoyed the Italian sausage sandwich, but did say there was a bit too much sauce. The lamb slider was also good but we just had so much food that I only took one bite of it. We each only finished half of our sandwiches, but were both satisfied. Overall, great sandwiches to take outside and enjoy the view of the bay.

I love chicken pot pie and was excited to see a bunch of turkey pot pies whispering eat me. So I did. The crust was flaky and the gravy kept it from being dry. I didn’t care for the overall flavor which my tastebuds keep screaming too salty. I was able to finish it by drinking lots of water but I wouldn’t order turkey pie again. Marie Calendar’s remains as my fav pot pie.

Hot pastrami peppered sandwich with Dijon mustard spread that is smacked in between a crunchy bread for 9 bucks, hits the spot for lunch! They specialize on their fresh meat produce, so get anything meaty here! They have good-looking chicken pot pies on clear window display. Opt for that, if you don’t feel like pork or beef. They have beef pot pies, but chicken is more homely. It’s a mighty and meaty meal at this shop!
