Seriously the worst service ever. It’s meant for tourists who won’t ever come back, so they put no effort into the food. You’ll wait 45 min for toast.

Went when warriors were playing, I did like the crowd and the many TVs to show the game, BUT the red headed bartender chick with the tattoos down her arm need a refresher on customer service mainly to treat ALL customers the same. We have the same COLORED money

Pretty big bar with a lot of tv screens, average arcade games, and cheap drunk food. We ordered a bunch of food — wings, nachos, and onion rings. Food wasn’t bad and with pretty big portions. You do have to hover around tables waiting for people to leave if you want one. Waitresses will come around to take your order for drinks and food which makes it nice if you don’t wanna wait around at the bar for a drink– it gets crowded. It’s pretty loud inside with all the people yelling at each other, games, and tv. We kinda just ate the food and guzzled down our pitcher of beer and bounced right after. Wasn’t quite the environment we wanted to stay at for too long.

I came here with a group of friends because the Tonga Room didn’t pan out like we had hoped. Despite having about 16 of us there, we were able to combine tables together to make two large tables next to each other. The waitress, Danielle, was really nice. There were back to back pitchers of beers being ordered but she was able to get them to us right away. The food was alright. I ordered a Caesar salad and sweet potato fries. The salad was a decent sized salad. Tasted fine. I think I was just hungry from not eating all day. And the sweet potato fries were good. Thick slices vs the normal skinny ones. which, I actually liked. I tried my friend’s truffle mac and cheese, but I didn’t like it. Someone ordered 4 plates of calamari so I got to try that too. I didn’t like them either. The calamari was too chewy. The place is great. Something totally unexpected. A restaurant with giant screen sports channels on the top floor, and a bar/arcade on the second floor. I would definitely come back for the ambiance, though I’m not sure about the food. But with what you get for the ambiance, I’d most likely try other things on the menu. Not ruling it out yet.

Ok, it was Christmas Eve @ 8:30, but if you’re open, you’re open, right? We started out on The Embarcadero side of town around 7, but all was closed… No room at the inn if you will. Finally after short BART ride back to Powell and walk of a few blocks, we stopped in here because I was going to come here during our visit to watch the last 49ers game at Candlestick at their sports bar,(but then my wife surprised me with tickets), but mostly we came in because it was open and the decent reviews on Unilocal. Well, the service was weak(seated quickly but waited 20 minutes to order, slow, unhelpful, apathetic, never came back to check us, water glasses empty, had to flag down another server for bill). The food was lackluster(cold cheese stick appetizer, beer served in a freshly washed warm glass, salad on a warm plate, medium burger cooked rare). It wasn’t busy there. Not remotely… There were maybe five tables going with probably no more than 15 people total. The bar was empty and there was at least 6 different staff members trolling about. Again, I realize it was Christmas Eve, no one wants to be at work, but if you’re open, you’re open. Btw, even though it was a terrible experience, I still left a tip well in excess of 30% because I appreciated someone being there at that time. Some friends suggested we meet there a couple days later and I turned them down by offering to pick up the tab at another place… Hopefully on our next visit, on a normal day, things will be better.

Very cool vibe. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but is a full on sports bar once in. I ordered the 49ers chicken sandwich and my wife the wings plate. Both were better than we expected them to be.

Our service was excellent(thanks Seth). One would go there for the loud sports bar atmosphere and beer not the food. I had beef sliders and truffle fries… meh. My son had the burger and said it was good. There are so many places to eat in SF we will just move along to the next restaurant. I would go back for hanging out and drinking with a group of friends.

Seriously the most incompetent bartender I have ever encountered. I swear to god I wish I was exaggerating, but she honestly asked how to make a rum and coke… ummm… They have an extensive beer menu but with no descriptions. So if you don’t know exactly what brand name corresponds with what type of beer you are out of luck. Saw multiple people send back drinks and plates while we were sitting here. We ordered a couple of non-memorable plates. I had the bahn mi wrap which was fine, but nothing that I would need to write home about. I did enjoy the aesthetic of the place, so extra star for that. Honestly, if you are in the area this is probably one you can skip.

I came here with some sorority sisters for happy hour/dinner because the Tap Room below was closed for a private party. Just take the elevator, holy moly those stairs are killer and it is the 3rd floor. The place was busy but not soo crazy since it was a Thursday night. Our waitress was super spacy and took forever. I agree about the super slow service. This is not the place for a quick snack. It took forever for us to order drinks and food and the drinks took a long time to come out too. We never got water even though we asked and finally just asked one of the bus boys for water. When we went to pay the check, there were 7 of us and 6 were paying with credit cards and one in cash. We didn’t ask to split the check because it took so long for us to actually get it in the first place(about half an hour from the time we asked!) We wrote our last names and the amount to be charged to each card and the waitress made some snooty remark about how next time we should really just have her split it up because this was a huge inconvenience. Don’t you think 7 individual checks is more work? Oh well, she didn’t get a good tip from us and I doubt I will return. Food and drinks were decent but super overpriced even for SF. $ 11 for a plain salad with shredded carrots and dressing? No thanks.

Me and a friend were looking for a new place we haven’t been to for a beer or two and she found this place on her phone. We were only up the street and we decided to give it a shot. After climbing a couple flights of stairs we walked into a beer and sports wonderland. Huge HD TVs showing sports were everywhere, a pool table, shuffleboards, video games, and Skee ball rounded out the entertainment in this sports bar. We waited for a moment looking around for a hostess, but none were to be found so we made our way towards the bar on the far left and found a high top table nearby. After realizing we weren’t going to get a waitress anytime soon I ordered a couple of beers from their extensive tap and bottle selection. If you don’t mind having your beer selection put up to chance, there is a giant wheel of beer that you can have spun and whatever it lands on, you get all at the same price with a few bonus spots where you can«win a shot» to go with your beer. After our first beer, we were getting a little hungry so we flagged down a waitress who then took our order. Food ranged from Burgers to fish tacos to typical bar food, chicken wings, fries, etc. One menu item caught my eye, the fresh shrimp ceviche served up with corn tortilla chips($ 7) — When it was brought out to our table my mouth started watering immediately. A cocktail glass filled with delicious avocado citrus sauce, fresh salsa and shrimp with a side of chips to dip/spoon on the ceviche. So good and highly recommended. The Skee Ball games in the corner caught our eye and we decided to play a couple of games. At $ 1 per game it can get pretty pricey so we didn’t play long. After cashing out with our server who was going home, she came back to our table and told us she found a pile of tokens and asked if we would like to have them. Score! More Skee Ball! After we finished up our beers we decided we wanted to play some shuffleboard and headed over to the tables. You can play for $ 6/hr(get your shuffleboard pucks at the bar) Had a great time here with my friend and I will certainly be back again sometime

I love this place! I live here and work very close to this place. My coworkers and I come here twice a week at least. Yuli the manager is always doing figure 8’s and taking very good care of everyone and helping his staff. He always recognizes his regulars and takes great care of everyone. Craig and Chris do an excellent job at the bar and remember the beer I like. I take all my relatives who visit me to the 3rd floor for breakfast. I love the pancakes and the excellent customer service I get here. It’s spacious and relaxing here. I’ll keep coming here and bringing my business to both levels. Thank you!

As a local, I don’t like going to places that are noisy, full of tourists and where I’m not treated well. At Golden Gate Grill, if you want to find nice, QUIET place, ABOVE the maddening throngs of out of towners, this is it. The ladies and gents who serve you up are always friendly, fun and attentive. The menu choices are on par with Lori’s diner just without the loud 50’s music in the background. This is, currently, my favourite place on Powell BECAUSE it tends NOT to be crowded like hotel-coupon-outlet Sears(the new-and-not-so-cool-edition since the original one closed down) restaurant downstairs. If you like old architecture, the beautiful, rounded windows(reminds me of the Grand Café’s windows), hardwood floors and open space is just wonderful. Go there for the QUIET, GOODSERVICE&DECENTFOOD.

The first time I came here was at the end of October and my bf and I used a groupon which basically comped our entire brunch and it even threw in two mimosas! My bf and I ordered the Ocean Beach Omelet and the Ocean Beach Benedict. The omelet is topped with hollandaise sauce and comes with hash browns and toast with butter or jam. The Ocean Beach Benedict is basically two eggs poached eggs on an English muffin and is served with hash browns and is topped with hollandaise sauce. Both dishes are also topped with dungeness crab and bay shrimp. Both dishes were quite tasty. I really didn’t have any complaints on these dishes. The second time I went was a month later and we came in the evening. My boyfriend ordered the Pacific Cod Fish and Chips and I ordered the Ocean Beach Linguine. The Pacific Cod Fish was cooked really well, but I felt that it was a little bland. The tartar sauce helped a little bit, but it’s disappointing if you’re counting on tartar sauce for flavor. I added some salt to it to make it taste like something. The Ocean Beach Linguine was pretty decent. It had a creamy white sauce which was enjoyable. I did like the seafood though. It seemed pretty fresh. My bf and I thought that it would be a good place to have dinner after we saw the Union Square Christmas tree lighting. The restaurant was pretty empty but there were plenty of people waiting to be seated. They were obviously understaffed. This seems to be an ongoing problem, because it reflects on their service. It took such a long time for a waiter to come to us to take our order, get our drinks, and get our food. While waiting, there were SOMANY empty tables, yet the lobby was full of people waiting to be seated. Management definitely needs some improvement because they seemed understaffed the first time as well. For it being a Friday night as well, it’s disappointing to have to wait so long to get seated and eat.

Walking in union square I was getting hungry. Looking for somewhere to eat I first decided to walk up Powell to Loris diner. On the way, I came upon Golden Gate Bar and Grill. The menu enticed me enough to give it a try. I’m glad I did! The place can be difficult to find. I mean I didn’t even know this place was here if I didn’t walk by a little sign! The ambience is relaxed. The décor is nice. Modern with a touch of 50’s in it. The menu consisted of burgers, fish and chips, BBQ, steaks and salads. I wanted to try the BBQ. I noticed I nice BBQ smell when I walked in. I ordered the BBQ combo. Baby back ribs with beef brisket. I have to say it was some pretty damn good BBQ! The baby back ribs were very tender and juicy! You bite right in to it and the meat just falls right off! The sauce was tangy with a little kick in the back. Perfect for the ribs. The beef brisket was great! It was super tender and juicy! Brisket can be really tough if not cooked right. This brisket was far from it! Probably one of the best briskest I’ve had in a long time! I would definitely come back just for the BBQ. I don’t know why this place has 2 ½ stars. The service was really good, and the food was great. I’ve even to many BBQ places and this was one of the better BBQ’s I’ve had. Give it a try

Where do you get greeted by Betty Boop at the entrance framed by the Golden Gate Bridge? Where else, but at Golden Gate Grill. As you walk up the stairs, you pass the Bar and Grill on the 2nd floor before arriving at Golden Gate Grill on the 3rd floor.( ) Checking in, we were promptly seated at a table by the window. The restaurant is large, spacious and airy with interesting nostalgic décor of old advertising signs, vintage stoves serving as waiter stations, and two old airplanes hanging from the ceiling.( ) As we were going over the menu, the waitress came to take our drink order. Not remembering see any drinks listed, we had to inquire about their offerings. The waitress stated that they had sodas, juices and coffee drinks. When asked about the coffee drinks and prices, she didn’t seem quite sure and had to restate a couple of the prices. Quite strange that a menu does not have drinks listed. Our order: — White Clam chowder: award winning recipe with celery, onions, potatoes, bacon and cream. Had to try this award winning chowder. The chowder was delicious. It had a good flavor, consistency and lots of clams.( ) — Ocean Beach Benedict: Dungeness crab, bay shrimp, topped with hollandaise sauce. Good amount of fresh tasting crab topped the Benedict. Felt the Benedict needed a little more seasoning. The hash browns were a little oily.( ) — Ocean Beach Omelet: Dungeness crab and bay shrimp. The omelet had a good amount of crab and the crab was fresh tasting. The omelet was a little overcooked and it was topped with hollandaise sauce. Yep, hollandaise sauce. It wasn’t listed on the menu, so I thought that was unusual for an omelet. Again, hash browns were a little oily.( ) Love the décor and music. Besides the clam chowder, the food is just a little off to garnish a 4-star rating. The menu with no drinks listed? Prices reasonable for the Union Square area. Given its location, Golden Gate needs to fine tune itself, to make itself a good dining choice for the area.

BF and I stopped in for a quick dinner on a Saturday night before seeing a show at the nearby Shelton Theater. I was very pleasantly surprised! For a place with such a touristy name and logo, the interior of the restaurant was quite nice, and the food far better than expected. The restaurant space is quite large, but tables are well spaced out. Fun oldies play overhead, and with servers dressed in tuxes, the vibe in the restaurant is a touch odd. But it was nice to grab a quick and quiet dinner without a reservation. We ordered the chicken club sandwich, and sliced steak sandwich, both with mixed greens. The sandwiches came quickly, on soft rolls with tasty and well dressed greens on the side. The chicken was well cooked and the toppings were tasty. The steak was delicious, and topped with sweet onions and musrooms. The only thing was I expected a sandwich described as sliced steak to be… well, slices of steak. This was a small steak sliced in half and put on a sandwich. It was well seasoned and cooked nicely though, just odd. If you need a quick dinner with reasonable prices without any big fuss, Golden Gate Grill is a decent choice. Nothing special, but I don’t think they’re trying to be.

I was in SF on Saturday, and while walking around union square, my friend wanted a drink, but nothing super fancy. I remembered on new years eve, my friend pointed out their happy hour pricing while walking by, so we decided to try it. The door man greeted us, and we made our way up to the 3 level via elevator. We exit the elevator into the restaurant. It’s decorated super old-school. It’s for the most part empty, and instead of «please wait to be seated», I just walked over to the bar to grab a seat. We ordered beers and fries, for 3 dollars a piece. Stella/Anchor Steam for 3 dollars a piece is a good deal. The fries were very meh, but for 3 dollars, I guess it was okay. Would not pay full price for this though. We watched the game and the bartender was fairly attentive. After she left(I guess she was done with her shift?), she didn’t let us know she was getting off, and the new bartender was tending to other customers at the other end of the bar. The golden gate bridge bar was pretty awesome. The bottom of the bridge has some alcohols, and directly under, holds wine glasses. On the bridge there were top shelf alcohols. It was fairly quiet. When leaving, I looked at the menu going down. The prices seemed a bit expensive, but for the most part, its reasonable for that area and for SF. Didn’t try any other food, so I won’t comment on anything else. 2 beers and fries. May or may not come back again, but only for happy hour beers.

What a cute Golden Gate Bridge inspired restaurant in vintage style! It’s located in the building next to Marriott hotel we were staying, we passed by this place, decided to give it a try. Took elevator to third floor, the entire restaurant is a loft, bar, seatings and open kitchen spread out nicely, with vintage orange color décor, the great views of Union Square from our table, the entire brunch experience was very pleasant and fun! Ordered bay shrimp cocktail and french fries, a couple of mimosas, hubby had soup of the day, seafood gumbo soup. Everything was delicious! Our waitress was extremely nice and patient. I liked this place a lot! They are opening a SF history museum on the fourth floor soon, will come back next time for sure!
