I’ve lived in the same place for almost eleven years, and I’ve worked seasonally at USF most of that time. Yet today was the first time I ever walked on Golden Gate Avenue from USF to Divisadero. How ridiculous is that? Well, it’s pretty ridiculous, because I didn’t even know that Golden Gate-Central Market existed. And believe me, it has existed for a long time, much longer than I’ve lived in my flat, probably much longer than I’ve lived. The selection is pretty good; the sign is old school in a perfect, original way; the workers are very nice. I would give it four stars, but it’s wheelchair inaccessible.

Sometimes the shelves are a little dusty, but it’s a windy neighborhood. For a little corner store they are pretty perfect they have the right mix of alcohol, random items, and food necessities. I love coming down here when I am too lazy to walk the extra two blocks to Lucky’s.

Its GGCM to those who hold it near & dear to their hearts. This is your standard every day corner market, what makes is phonomenal is that the owners are best friends who came to San Francisco straight from Eretria. Every member of their families works here at some point in the week. Which means that my craving for Haagen Dazs Dulce de Leche on a tuesday night actually feels justified in some odd odd way.
