Some of the worst service I’ve ever seen. The staff was very unaccompdating. When I finally got their attention, I had a $ 9.50 total that was below their $ 10 minimum. I politely asked if it was ok and the clerk told me to piss off. After seeing that I had nothing else to buy, he took my card and grumbled something under his breath; when I got home I found out that he had charged me $ 10.50, putting an extra dollar on my bill without my permission. What crooks.

If you live in the area, this little corner store will save you a lot of trips to the grocery store. I’ve been here a few times to pick up some household cleaning supplies and a few things for the kitchen(olive oil, vinegar, ranch, etc.), and they haven’t completely raped me on the price like I would have expected. They’ve got prepared food, but I haven’t tried that yet… tho’ I am coming back for the Pirogis. Service is always friendly too… even when I run in as they’re trying to close, and then take my time deciding on everything I need.

Selection is fine, and the folks who run the café were very friendly when I shopped here(twice). I also wouldn’t mind the higher prices, they are typical for a convenience store in this area. What is not okay, however, is that at each visit, I was charged 25% more than the price tag on the item stated. That’s quite a sales tax rate. I was not given(or offered) a receipt, forgot to ask for one, and only noticed the discrepancy later. Perhaps it was an error both times; I will give them another try, and update accordingly.

Great and friendly little café. Just the ticket for a bite of breakfast. The Egg ham and cheese bagel was delicious.

I don’t know why you’d operate a store if you didn’t want to wait on people buying stuff there, but that appears to be what happened with this place. Went in a week or so ago and asked for $ 5 worth of lottery tickets. Had a $ 20 bill in my hand. Guy behind the counter said he couldn’t break it — «The bank just came and took all my cash». I found a loose dollar in my pocket and bought a single ticket. Sure looked like there was cash in the drawer when he opened it to stick my buck in. Probably just didn’t want to make change. Stopped in today to get something to drink. The man was busy with a sandwich order and the woman was on the phone. She actually glared at me when I set my drink on the counter, rolled her eyes at me, and never skipping a word on the phone, walked over and simply stuck out her hand. When I asked for a lottery ticket, too, she audibly sighed and treated me to another eye roll. Slammed the ticket on the counter and stuck her hand out again, all the while still yammering away on the phone. When I asked«How much?» she walked away, yelled something, and some other guy came up to take my money. He said exactly two words — «Five bucks» — and stuck his hand out, too. Took the bill, stuffed it in the drawer and walked away. There’s another small store nearby where everyone is at least polite. That’s where I’ll go from now on.

This is definitely a convenience store/liquor store rather than a café. However it is family owned and they are really nice. I recently went there because I was out of eggs and was surprised to find out that they stock many of the same brands as Whole Foods.

Nick K., who wrote the«AVOIDATALLCOSTS» review needs to be called out. This is a family owned and operated small grocery store and deli. The family is always there working hard to make their business work, and are very friendly, courteous, and remember the locals and regular customers. Nick K., I am sorry that you have some strange expectation that a local convenience store is going to compete with a conglomerate like Safeway for the price of a bottle of wine. This convenience store/deli is exactly that — all for convenience. And this family works as hard as anyone in this city to make their business successful. Also nice to talk Giants baseball with Sam and family, as they are big sports fans that follow the local teams. Hopefully the«HATERS» like Nick K. will continue to stay away so a hard working family can continue to have a successful business that serves the neighborhood well. Oh, and by the way, with all the construction going on here on new high rises(like Lumina), apparently Gabby’s is a favorite of the construction workers at lunch time.

A nice convenience to have in the area. Would be great if they stocked some more local/artisanal products, but there’s a good selection of drinks and convenience foods/goods. Potato salad is delicious!

Sandwiches are good and well priced but besides that the service sucks and the woman there is rude as all Hell. I won’t be coming back here again.

I have given this place several chances as I live close by. And I really want to like this place because it is close by and usually pretty well stocked. Hence the two stars. However, the service is just terrible. And I refuse to patronize a business that is not at all appreciative of your business. So I will walk several blocks to the other markets in the area even though this one is closer. I would hope for at least a greeting or a thank you upon checking out. Even when I say thank you sometimes to the cashier, they say nothing. There is only one guy there that is cordial and says thank you but I always seem to get someone else at the register. Not cool. So if you are in a pinch, yes they are well stocked. But I would think twice about who you’re giving your money too. Don’t expect to be appreciated for your business. But if it were me, even if I was in a pinch, I would get in my car and drive somewhere else because of the bad customer service experiences I have had here.

One of my favorite places to hit up, I’ve been averaging at least 3 visits each week the past month or two. Who doesn’t like a nice, relaxing go-to Café to unwind, enjoy some coffee or come chat with friends or coworkers? I feel like I found my own Central Perk. In a city and state where everything is overpriced it’s a breath of fresh air to see that their are still places out there that offer low prices on good food, coffee, etc.

Ive been working down the street for a while now. And this area has lil to no choices where to eat lunch. So i am forced to either bring a lunch or take my chances that this place will get my order right… Which is about one out of three visits. The girl working the counter treats you as if she knows that u have no other choice but to deal with their service. But, when they get it right… The sandwiches are pretty decent.

I live nearby and spotted Gabby’s walking home from an appointment. As soon as I walked in Sam greeted me with a huge grin. This place makes the BEST pastrami sandwiches ever, hands down. By my second visit Sam knew me by name and was even nice enough to grab a case of my favorite vodka a day early from their distributor. How cool is that?! My boyfriend and I will be frequent visitors.

5 star rating and I bought nothing from this store! I was lucky to find a parking spot in this area and felt like I had won the Lotto until I realized I did not have enough change. I walked into this store looking for something I could buy so I could get some precious quarters. I ordered 2 lotto tickets since that seemed easy. I gave the cashier the money asking for quarters back as change and told him that I needed it for parking. He mentioned that he did not have quarters and when he saw the look of disappointment on my face, he smiled and said«don’t worry about» and said I did not have to buy the tickets since he knew I was buying it just for the change. That was a very decent move! Sending Gabby Café good karma points!

Sam & his wife are the best. They listen to their customers. They make great sandwiches & salads. The best neighborhood deli around, they also carry a wide selection of wine & spirits.

This place saved me when I had a tummy ache, couldn’t go far, Rincon Market was closed but needed a lemon, paper towels, and grated parmesan cheese. It’s a mom-and-pop shop, or so it seems. The girl opened the door for me when I entered. She also rang me up. The father helped me find each item I needed fast. And i think the son opened the door for me as I left, which was sweet. Agree with Eileen L that it’s nice to support the American Dream. It’s tempting for us to shop at Target and Costco to save but when everyone does that, people like this family don’t get to run their own thing, build skills, etc… they instead need to work for the big companies that’re stealing their business. I do plan to get coffee here sometime now that I’ve heard it’s good. I also agree with Joe M that it’s expensive. My lemon was 50 cents, a roll of towels was $ 3 and the kraft grated parmesan cheese was $ 3. In a pinch, it’s worth it. I woulda gone to Safeway/WholeFoods but we forgot these items earlier.

Great for convenient healthy food and it’s so close to my condo I can’t help but come down for the occasional junk food snack. The customer service is excellent and I like that they’ll order things for me like gluten free food. They also have a good selection of wines, especially for a small store. I also feel good about frequenting a business that is family owned and supports the American Dream. The money spent here goes back into our local community and that’s a good thing.

Overcharged for 2 sodas. Cost =.99 each for 1.98 total and I get charged $ 2.50 — the only way for this to happen is if I was charged 25% sales tax which is apparently what did happen. I didn’t realize this until I did the math later but couldn’t go back because they«conveniently» didn’t give me a receipt for proof. Moral = don’t let them rip you off!
